Now all you need is Stars and Stripes forever playing in the background and a powermaster on one of the loops so you can run the spirit of 76 set. Lionel does have a great tutorial on UA-cam for installing the powermaster into a pre existing layout, would recommend watching it.

Just a note for you, the NW 1776 was a duel control SD-45 and had a bulletin issued that stated "while running it with the red-white-and blue paint it was to be run short hood lead whenever practicable". Even though it had the F on the long hood I never saw it run that way and I don't think I have ever seen a photo of it running long hood forward in red-white-blue paint. (I was an N&W engineer) You ask... "what could be better?" Turn that dude around! 🙂 I have been looking for one of these models for quite a while. It was the first locomotive I ever ran. (although it was black then) If I find one the first thing I will do is turn the engineer and fireman around to face the short hood!
How much power do you have connected to the track with the 3 Big Boys? Can you run the smoke without popping a breaker? Thanks for any kind response. Happy 4th of July!

Problem is that the guys in the cab are facing toward the long hood lol.
