I removed the AOC and rear differential from my volvo and replaced the two pinion shaft bearings/two part seal and fluids with AOC filter. Special tools I made.I was able to just lower the frame without removing it. Good work for showing others that it can be done!
am I correct in saying this car has front and rear differentials as well as an angle gear coming from the gearbox? I was under the imression that the car does not have front differential but instead the two CV in the front are just driven by the gearbox and then the angle gear takes some of the power to the rear diff when needed.
The front is a traditional style FWD transmission, so no standalone diff, but diff function built into the transmission. From this there is an angle gear casing, which changes drive direction to send power down the tailshaft. This is always spinning, even when there is no requirement for rear drive. The rear haldex differential has internal clutches. When slip is detected, it engages these clutches and transfers power from the spinning tailshaft to the rear wheels.
Well done, I know you did these a few years ago, Volvosweden does make great videos too.

Hi Paul, is there a video that shows how to lower the axle rather than removing it?
im just amazed the job you are doing
I know what you are up against. I just want to say good luck and thanks for the video man.
I appreciate that!
great info TKS
Thank you! Great video. Any suggestions on where to get a decent used diff?
nice too see a rust free xc70 my v70 i pretty rusty underneith but we got salt on the roads in winter :(
We don't get much rust here. Even my 1985 Volvo 240 is mostly rust free. No snow = no salt :)
@@AngryGermanGarage i live in south sweden we get alot of salt and its pretty much just slush the north doesnt salt the roads.
Thank you for finding time to film and post videos. Have you noticed any difference between diffs from T6 and D5 models? Cheers.
Nothing at all, they are identical.

Does the original diff have lsd?
Unfortunately not
Do all P3 have the same differential ratio?
Can't speak to everything, but in the scope I've looked at (Australian V70/S80/XC60/XC70), yes, they are all the same, regardless of engine.
@@AngryGermanGarage does anyone make a different set of gears for the differential?
@@theawsomekicker not that I've come across
