    Just awesome! It wasn't the most complicated issue, and simple process of elimination helped pinpoint the culprit. It's also great to have your own network group of rebuilders, to bounce ideas off of or to exchange info from time to time. Thanks for another awesome video Gary! Have a great week! 😊😊🤗🤗

    I had never rebuilt a Zf5hp30 until last year, put new clutch plates in a and b drum seals valve body rebuild etc, made own tools , 2 years on still running fine

    Great information and detail on the problem with this one. I'm glad to see they went to a metal valve for the fix. Thanks for sharing.

    the Oil tank is creative.. it prevents the fluid from surging up into the rotating assembly on acceleration.
    i had a C5 transmission filter that would swell up and reduce fluid flow but only after a 100 mile trip.. the lack of flow would cause the transmission to slip bad enough it felt to the customer like it was in neutral. it was a whole batch of plastic screen filters somebody had manufactured. hard to imagine that was 3 1/2 decades ago.

    @ 06:51 its an oil baffle, due to the unusually long oil pan, and the hollow space where the baffle sits on, it fills up the empty voids prevent ATF from sloshing and starving the oil pump due to movement and extreme angle.

      Thanks for the tip, never really worked on one, ever has the manual valve problem?

    • @zech007
      @zech007 5 років тому

      @@GaryFerraro I never had an issue with the manual valve been stuck, I had to drop and rebuild my valve body @ 210k mi because of no reverse, oil and filter had no metallic flakes with normal build up on the magnets, I eventually found out that the a plastic check ball disintegrated/wore down to a point where it was small enough to be blown thru a spacer plate and exhaust pressure for F clutch (reverse). I bought a ZF5hp30VBK (valve body kit) from ZF which had new springs, updated/revised plungers, internal filter, manual shift valve and orifice, those kits are pricey now but was very cheap 10 years ago.

    Hi. Wondering if you came across something like this. 5hp30. When I start the car to add fluid it foaming and coming back out. New filter and fluid.
    Does it pull air through valve body? Seemed like it picks up some fluid from the valve body? I pulled the valve body the o'ring looks ok over valve body to pump. Could it be also pulling past o'rings? They seem soft not hard or cracked

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  5 років тому +1

      It's either a torx 27 or torx 30

      I use mineral spirits but you can also use brake kleen, may be cheaper and will do the job

    Hello mate sorry to trouble you again but just wondering if u might be able to help me.So i rebuilt the valve body in my zf5hp30 and now seem to be having a few issues when i put it in reverse yes that's great but when i select drive it just seems to be doing alot of reving and getting no where and doesn't want to change gear?Im almost positive i put everything back correctly but somethings wrong. can you point me in the right direction on where i may have made a mistake
    Thanks mate any ideas would be appreciated.

    • @GaryFerraro

      so this was working ok until you opened the valvebody? Im thinking maybe the car is in safe mode, any codes?

    • @andywill9099
      @andywill9099 5 років тому

      The reason i decided to do the rebuild in the first place is because the transmission was making a whining noise.I actually don't have any equipment to check for codes so I'm stuck in that department

    • @andywill9099
      @andywill9099 5 років тому

      It was making a metallic whining type noise on upshift from 1st to 3rd which was actually starting to get worse

    • @andywill9099
      @andywill9099 5 років тому

      Also the trans program warning doesn't come up on the dash until it nearly has to try and change to 2nd but when it eventually does get into 2nd it's sort of delayed and jumps/jerks in to gear but their is alot of reving but not getting far

  • @andywill9099
    @andywill9099 5 років тому

    And how tight should i torque them?Cheers

      Puting the valvebody halves together 85 inch pounds.

    Hello , I heard about you through the Internet and contacts with friends . They advised me to ask you about a problem with my BMW . I will send you a video of the automatic transmission in it . It has been repaired a lot . When you finish and start the car , the same problem goes back . The sign on the screen goes to the automatic transmission all , and some people say the problem is in the electricity and some say in Automatic transmission please advise and I am ready for what you ask for it , I am ready for it . Greetings Ali bata
