From this point I do two things 1) when I’m simply studying I try to not look at my notes. I’ll try to in my head recall or write down what the topic was about and what details I can. Okay, that first one is 100% real. I'm in training to fly my first jet and I knew it was going to be rough & very confusing, so I read a lot of the material beforehand and it made so much sense in class! I didnt even study that hard and, when I got into the simulator, I was ahead of my peers because I was quickly able to make the connections between the material and the airplane. Great tips!
I got a 100% on my Organic Chemistry final at a UC school and tip #4 was crucial for my success! Doing actual quiz questions and practice problems is familiarizing your brain with what it will see on the real tests, instead of spending that same time solely reading chapters. It comes down to how you study, not how much you study. Many students are passively studying - like reading or passively listening/attending lectures. Active study is when you are pairing an action with what youre learning. Think of it like creating instead of consuming. Dont try to memorize concepts but understand WHY it makes sense so you it just becomes common sense to you. Absolutely come to lecture having read the chapters already. Almost every one of my classmates would not read the assigned chapters before class and wouldnt have a clue what our professor is explaining. Learning is meant to build on knowledge you already know - so dont expect to learn anything if you cant build off of the foundational knowledge from the last chapter. Think of it like a ladder. You climb in one rung at a time, you cant skip any rungs to get to the top.
This is so awesome! I love these tips! I just want to remind others out there..if you’re taking this advice, scoring perfect on multiple choice and still scoring average or barely passing on written response, don’t give up! Sometimes teachers get jealous of students and try to discourage them by scoring lower than what the student deserves. Keep putting in all your hard work and know your worth regardless of your score, especially if you know you’re an A student❤
These are great tips! I will try to apply the first tip for this coming semester! However, my prof rarely gave the correct answers and solutions to practice problems which made me demotivated/no motivation to do them : (
Ask them for it! Even if they will not give them to you (because too lazy or they simply don't have them), it will show that you're interested and willing to go the extra mile! Good luck! :)

You and I know those are generally intro level 1st and 2nd year courses ar Harvard 😊 Congrats on the high 90s scores though. Those would have been great back in my day, and if you keep up those grades you'll have a good chance at HMS or the school of your choice. Happy to give med school app and future medical career advice 😊
This isn’t a healthy way but it works: Threaten yourself that you’ll be so stressed with all the work over load and allat in the near future if you don’t get things done asap, if you finish things now you’ll have more time to relax, just look at that time to relax You have to work on this thing well so you don’t have to waste more time revising it later Maybe try putting a timer for each task (plesseeee put more time than you think you’ll take so if the timer runs out you don’t feel drafted or disappointed or anything like that)
i think maybe setting some timers may help? for example setting an alarm/time for when you *must* start doing at least some work, and you can do this work in little intervals and work your way up! you could start at 10 min and then next time 20 min, and so on. and also make sure to have frequent 5-30 min breaks to rest your mind! ik that on windows theres a feature in the clock app called 'focus sessions' which really makes it more motivating to get things done! plus you can make a playlist for study music which may make studying more fun :) i also sometimes like to work in another room than my bedroom, or go to a library to do my work, because a different setting really clears my mind from distractions and gets me in the work mindset! i hope this helps at all, as it works for me. now that im thinking about this i should probably do my schoolwork too haha. but good luck i hope you are able to find a way that works for you!
Bore yourself to the point where studying seems like a fun idea, by locking yourself in a room with just your study material (if all rooms/zones in your living space are stimulating, you could maybe try the library) After long enough your brain is bound to choose torture over standing there doing nothing
i've found that pairing it with things i enjoy works a lot. for example, i like video games. while i'm studying, i listen to music from my favourite video games. in 2020/2021, i paired study time with my favourite food. i've even alternated studying for a really hard course with playing a video game (same amount of time on each - it wasnt long enough for me to get fully invested in each also take! breaks! studying for 3-4 hours on end doesnt do anything but make you tired and strains your eyes.
yea, like that's not a thing over here. We don't have "old homework, old exams or practice question" and all the study-tube videos always rely on them lol
@@wellenhelen so true, I did get it in high school, but now I have no clue how to study. I don't even have a book and sometimes the lectures aren't recorded, so I just have to rely on my notes and the PowerPoint

I do this a lot. Watch videos online about interesting topics (my favorite is math videos) that are FAR out of your range. Then once you’re in the class you’re slowly able to fill in the gaps and gives a guide to your learning
I dont wanna be mean, i am a med student myself, but if the test is a multiple choice test even tho the material is hard it is rather possible to take good grades. They tend to have a similar pattern in answers and questions and to focus on specific parts of the material. The hardest and yet the most realistically exams (as in how much you actually understood) are the oral ones. They should be the only way to take an exam in med school imo.
That’s how I used to study when I was in middle school, my first year in the States. Also my first actual academic when I first received my eyeglasses after leaving a very abusive household. I never gets anything above D’s in elementary, not for the lack of trying. I remembered taking entrance exam at a prestigious elementary school just to prove their point that I’m stupid and retarded. I’ve addressed my problem for my poor eyesight, everything is super blurry ever since I was a child. But because of my parents history and I’m just ‘couch surfing’ as they put it, they wouldn’t want to spend a penny more on a child that’s it’s not theirs. Moving forward, the family that took me in, is very generous and it takes times to get used to changing environments. I’ve excelled at school with A’s and B’s, though my study methods and organization needs some work. Seeing how easy the school was for me, they request to place me in more advanced classes. Here’s the thing, I’ve never, ever, taken any basic nor do I have any knowledge of it, due to my past experience. Like getting put in for Advanced Geometry, or Advanced Literature, or any of that when I never taken basic course of it. It was very challenging and the only things goes through my mind was ‘If I failed, they may send me back to that hellhole’. At the end, I’ve managed to maintain Bs average. They look very disappointed cause now they couldn’t brag about me to their family and friends. But what they failed to see is, TES and TAS considered my enrollment if it weren’t for the citizenship, cause of the essay I’ve wrote. Coming from someone who never ever taken basic English, nor writing and grammar classes, for someone with that caliber to write and being considered? That’s says something about what someone is capable of, about me, although now this sound’s narcissistic 😂. Now that I’m older, I’m not care too much about school. I’m focusing more about my career in the Service. Now that I’ve seen this shorts, you may inspired me to get back into school. Maybe taking college classes at a time while having a career in the Military.
What I did to study for any science class was I’d write down key concepts of each lesson, and at the end of a unit I’d make a document called “Everything in a page” explaining everything in one page or less

I found that they’re really similar, the words are similar and you’re already familiar with conjugation. But(contrary to popular belief) Spanish is a lot harder than French, especially verbs. If you had good grades in French then I think you’d do fine if you moved up a bit in spanish(if you’re fine with being average/bs-low as), but if you were just avg(b’s-low a’s) then you should probably stay at beginners, it really depends on your prior knowledge and how fast you’re able to pick up a language.
Also, trying to have a Healthy life, not stressing much and being happy is a big factor.
Good luck! :)
Fr #4 is so true, especially for History.
no. 5 : be a genius. Its almost impossible to do all these unless u are academically gifted. It's not even possible for u to get accepted in the first place. u great girl 💪💖
That first tip is extremely important for most things in life.
I hate when someone says "I also had a social life and was running a business" BRO HOW. I'm studying also and I don't even take notes because all my stuff is practical but still I can't keep up.
I'm happy for you!
Man I needed this in College
Moral: Start studying
how badly I wish I were intelligent and hardworking
work towards it
@@kittieheart I can't express how much I hate vague and meaningless advice like this.
Just means you have to push yourself, sit with discomfort, and develop self discipline.
I don’t want to do this because I hate being uncomfortable and I always go do the easy route. lol
But ya. Intelligence and a hard working nature is developed, not born with for most people.

I love you Elise!! Your so inspiring! You're my role model, wt u shared is so helpful, as a 12th grader, watching this prepares me and gives me tips. NEVER GIVE UP ELISE!!! Hope u succeed...Ik we all sometimes feel like giving up on life, but we have to keep working hard to achieve a happy and purposeful life, all ur hard work will be worth it in the end, we just need to work really hard for a few years, and then live life!!!
Jesus loves you and would love to have a relationship with you. Reading the Bible is very important.
Great job! Yes, you can do well in any subject as long as you study properly and study enough.
The point is you have to want to learn, to study. ❤
Congrats on recording your A in biology. Hoping your classes continue to go well. 🌴
I do all of this and it works so well! Take it slow and trust your brain, it'll do the connections on its own the more you practice 💯 👌🏻
Priming is sooo good that’s how my grades are so high rn it’s my holy grail study hack
You're brilliant. I respect your discipline😊.
You're so lucky... you're pretty, have a social life, a job and do extremely well academically. I can only dream of having just one of those.
Bro should've tried math 55 and physics 😂
Wow you're so hardworking it's so inspiring
You and I know those are generally intro level 1st and 2nd year courses ar Harvard 😊 Congrats on the high 90s scores though. Those would have been great back in my day, and if you keep up those grades you'll have a good chance at HMS or the school of your choice. Happy to give med school app and future medical career advice 😊
It’s not about how you study it’s about the discipline and resilience to do this every single day of your life and never give up
That's wrong, studying without comprehension is futile
my problem is im also lazy and have hobbies 😭 how do u trick your mind to opt for studying first than having fun/lazing around
This isn’t a healthy way but it works:
Threaten yourself that you’ll be so stressed with all the work over load and allat in the near future if you don’t get things done asap, if you finish things now you’ll have more time to relax, just look at that time to relax
You have to work on this thing well so you don’t have to waste more time revising it later
Maybe try putting a timer for each task (plesseeee put more time than you think you’ll take so if the timer runs out you don’t feel drafted or disappointed or anything like that)
i think maybe setting some timers may help? for example setting an alarm/time for when you *must* start doing at least some work, and you can do this work in little intervals and work your way up! you could start at 10 min and then next time 20 min, and so on. and also make sure to have frequent 5-30 min breaks to rest your mind! ik that on windows theres a feature in the clock app called 'focus sessions' which really makes it more motivating to get things done! plus you can make a playlist for study music which may make studying more fun :) i also sometimes like to work in another room than my bedroom, or go to a library to do my work, because a different setting really clears my mind from distractions and gets me in the work mindset! i hope this helps at all, as it works for me. now that im thinking about this i should probably do my schoolwork too haha. but good luck i hope you are able to find a way that works for you!
Bore yourself to the point where studying seems like a fun idea, by locking yourself in a room with just your study material (if all rooms/zones in your living space are stimulating, you could maybe try the library)
After long enough your brain is bound to choose torture over standing there doing nothing
i've found that pairing it with things i enjoy works a lot. for example, i like video games. while i'm studying, i listen to music from my favourite video games. in 2020/2021, i paired study time with my favourite food. i've even alternated studying for a really hard course with playing a video game (same amount of time on each - it wasnt long enough for me to get fully invested in each
also take! breaks! studying for 3-4 hours on end doesnt do anything but make you tired and strains your eyes.
Find every trick, try every trick, try every trick again
Practice practice practice
the “back in my day” story she’s gonna have for her child-
Imagine getting practice questions in university🥲
yea, like that's not a thing over here. We don't have "old homework, old exams or practice question" and all the study-tube videos always rely on them lol
@@wellenhelen so true, I did get it in high school, but now I have no clue how to study. I don't even have a book and sometimes the lectures aren't recorded, so I just have to rely on my notes and the PowerPoint
real
i always beg my teachers for practice questions but one teacher i had literally told me “practice questions don’t help at all!” for ap world
me and my mom were like no wtf?
I always learn best through pracrice
my grades were dropping and i’d get 30s on tests so i went out to find my own practice tests
easily got clean 80s-95s on my multiple choice tests after that
@@wellenhelenass university lmfao
Yes! That's no longer a.thing in my university. I guess the professors Want you to take the learning more like a real deal than just some 100 marks question like when we were in high school...
You do this - so I don't have to - thank you
Mechanics and Special Relativity be like
:))))))
Most of the comment says “because she’s asian” so here I want to clarify that everyone could become an A’s student, please don’t be a stereotype okay
Absolutely astonishing work keep the faith.❤😊❤
I'm new in your channel maybe it's not very nice but since mostly people are fake nowdays I'll say this if things you're posting and you really achived them hats of to you I'm proud of you girl because I know it doesn't happened over a night and you're really working hard I hope you keep going on this and ofc while you're happy with it and thank you if you're helping anyone out there I'm just in love with academic people and I hope my hard works pay off soon especially after 5 months from now when I get the results of the exam of interning uni
I tried most of the tips and TYSM!!!! my grades are noticeably higher tysm
Tip one: be smart lol.
I tried your no rereading textbooks, and it worked so good
That’s how I used to study when I was in middle school, my first year in the States.
I usually don't comment. But your story is really inspiring.
That giant whiteboard looks nice, I like having big space like that
Love your videos ❤️
You should be so proud of yourself! ❤ I know I am! 🎉
Excellent advice.Thank you❤
You’re the one that my Asian parents always wanted
You have pulled all nighters, we've seen your videos
Congratulations!!
What I did to study for any science class was I’d write down key concepts of each lesson, and at the end of a unit I’d make a document called “Everything in a page” explaining everything in one page or less
Wow amazing, I wish I was like you I’m only 11 but wanna go to Harvard sooo bad luv ur vids sis.
At your age you have a better chance than most people but you HAVE to work hard I said that to but wasn't fully aware of how much I had to do. Try to do as best you can so when you get to high school you can start off ahead then try to take as much ap as you can.
@@skeletalgent4012I need advice. I have to change my middle school. I’m currently taking French. My new school doesn’t offer French, they offer Spanish. That means I have to go over the exploratory Spanish. Should I ask them to offer me Spanish 1?
@mxnna4895 if ur in middle school, u barely learn any Spanish anyways
I recommend practicing using duolingo, but the Spanish they teach you is very minimal and only small basic phrases, so you don't have too do much work
@@mxnna4895you could, taking Spanish in middle school would help a lot for high school Spanish classes I’d also recommend taking 9th grade math and English in your 8th grade year of middle school you will be ahead and get it done good luck !!💗💗
@@mxnna4895I was in Spanish 1 last year, and this year I’m taking French 1 because Spanish was full. Anyways, whatever happened GOOD LUCK GIRLLL
Helpful, thank you!
This is so real and simple
Good luck , u just gotta study
Thank you, these were really helpful tips.
Congratsss 🎉
I consider myself extremely academically gifted and I flew through all of grade school and middle school like it was nothing. Chemistry hit me like a freight train. I barely passed. At one point I had a 46 in the class. I will say I had some explaining to do to my parents.
I’m wanting to go to school for mortuary studies and the tips in these videos will be priceless!

Literally the worst advice to any student…
Everyone should watch Justin Sung to understand what she meant by that first one
so amazing what a wonderful girl😭😭
It is biology and chemistry. So yes, it is possible.
Really amazing advice. I wish I knew this in elementary school.
Yes it's possible. But here are some steps to achieve it:
1. Get into harvard.
2. Try to even complete the first step.
tip no.1: have photographic memory
