- This video is long overdue, I filmed the second half back during the winter but wanted to include the actual swap process as well for pads and rotors with the Porsche Macan upgrade for the brakes.
Hope you guys enjoy :)

There's not a lot of new MQB related content going on right now, but I definitely have to say that you're one of my favs. Keep killin it bro!
Dude thank you so much! Literally these comments mean so much to me
Awesome man ! Its so confusing reading the forums , audi a3 over here
Happy to help man!
2018 Tiguan. I got a smoking deal on an RS3 system with Neuspeed rotors for dirt cheap (pad costs doubled the investment). Same guy also sold me his 350mm Neuspeed rear conversion off his Arteon (also swapped to Atlas rear calipers). So far I’ve run the Dragon and Russel parkway around Helen many times with zero issues. Was going to to the Macans but got a much better setup for well under $1500.
Thats awesome dude! Nice! I was gonna do the rs3 calipers but ended up selling due to the cost of the 370mm 2 piece rotors.
Hi, looks great. Which brakes lines did you use ? Macan oem brake hose ?
Hey man, they are technafit lines :) thanks!
@Mk7John thanks for your reply. I meant as in mk7 hose or macan hose as setup ?
@ I am not sure what you mean by that, sorry
I’ve got my mk3 TT booked in for the same upgrade at the end of the month, I love big brakes they look great.. I’d say 75% of the reason I’m actually doing it is because I want the wheels to be filled with bigger disks and callipers! The extra stopping power is a bonus too 😂
Nice man!! I cant blame you lol same for me
I’ve had the calipers installed and they look great but they feel spongey compared to my stock brakes, the pedal travel is further also, is this something you experienced? Thanks
Hey man, so couple of things:
1. I recommend making the obd11 adjustments for brake booster and hydraulic brake assit
2. Make sure u use castrol red rubber grease around pistons
3. Make sure you properly bleed your lines, this is a huge part. I had to do it 2 times and ended up needing a power bleeder to do it.
All of these things made it rock solid
i love that you can just get lost in all this car shit even though it means absolutely nothing in the real world...most ppl just need a reliable commuter that doesnt make them vomit everytime they see it in the garage...
Lmao this is funny, you are so right
Brake sensor, was no work required for it?
I dont have one on this car
I changed my front pads to EBC YellowStuff and rotors to Apr slotted and I couldn’t believe the difference at the track. So much more bite and confidence in the braking zone. But, I am still curious what the Macan calipers with comparable pads might feel like.
Solid setup! I would say the biggest difference is going to be the pedal feel with the macan calipers from top to bottom
I’m in the same boat, yellowstuff on all my cars, they’re night and day better than a standard pad but I’m curious about the macan calipers based on the better brake modulation alone.
Its definitely a nice upgrade!
nice porsche 👍
Poooor-sche
Hey! I have at question, how you cover the headlights? And tanks for recommend me the H&R lower springs the car looks great.
Thank you, its vinyl on the headlights
“Frick tac-toe” sent me😂😂
😂😂
Hey, what’s the offset of your wheels, I’m on 17x 8 konig hypergrams on my gli and I’ve looked into this kit in the past, I’m was just wondering how much clearance you have between the caliper and rim, atm I use 5mm spacers to clear the stock caliper. And great videos btw
Hey! My offset is +35. But i think spoke design plays into it alot. My old rotiform tuf R were +43 and were super close to clearing, before that my konig ampliforms needed a big spacer (also +43) and thanks for the kind words
@@Mk7John What size spacer did you need to run with the ampliforms? I'm dead set on this kit and would like to have a decent idea what size spacer I will need.
@@spencernelson5922 I ran a 20mm spacer, could probably have gotten away with a 15 but I am not sure
@ good to know, thanks! I’m still in the stages of looking into the pads & rotors but I’m pretty set into getting the calipers.
@@spencernelson5922 good luck bro. I def recommend the z26 pads. love the balance. though the ebc red had a lot more bite
Chicken tikka masala - 100% born in Scotland, not a claim a fact.
Did you rebuild with red rubber grease when you first installed the calipers? I have this set and I’m about to install but I’ve been seeing a bunch of people commenting on the retraction being slow and leading to a soft pedal feel.
Yes i did use castrol red rubber grease. It helps a lot with firmness. Also make sure u bleed properly. I had to do it 3 times i think before it was super solid
@@Mk7John awesome, thank you for the quick reply. I had also read people having to bleed them multiple times, at least I know what to expect lol.
@@Laskyification most welcome man, yeah def need to bleed a couple times lol
@@Mk7Johndid you need a rebuild kit or did you just reassemble with the seals that came with the brakes?
@@Laskyification I just used the ones that came with the calipers
Factory brake lines work? Thanks!
You gotta swap them, the calipers use a different connection type than oem
Did you have to upgrade the master cylinder?
Negative
Badgeskins or SwanVynls for the headlight amber delete?
Swan Vinyl all the way
@@Mk7John appreciate it🙏 any tips for install? mistakes you made i can prevent or just anything helpful
Of course man, his install videos are helpful. To be honest, Garrett did almost all of the vinyl on my car so I can't speak too much on it
@@Mk7John thanks for the help keep up the videos
Thank you!
What brand rotors did you go with?
Ecs tuning
Brembro, only brembro ever.
Do I need a different backing plate/dust shield?
I removed mine, i don't think the stock ones will work
Will this brake setup work on a ‘21 Tiguan?
I would think so, but not 100% sure.
