Who the hell changes their kids last names after their father was murdered??? How disrespectful to those 2 boys and the father!! That was a huge red flag!!!

She also changed the middle name of one of her sons. Apparently that name came from Dan's family as well. She claims that the reason to change the last name came from a desire to protect the boys from public attention and I think I remember that her answer for that was more BS

How on earth is it possible that your brother (and mom) hired multiple hitmen to get rid of your ex-husband for you and you have totally nothing to do with it. They have been manipulated by a giant crying baby/whiner for sure. The entire family is just beyond toxic it is unbelievable.

I think she knew at the very least and quite possibly was an active party to it, but I don’t think she’ll get arrested. The cops have gone as far up this conspiracy as they can with the evidence they have. The only two people that can connect Wendi to the murder is her mother and brother, and they will never.

This is one of the most reprehensible and diabolical acts perpetrated upon another human being… I am still stunned that people would even consider such a thing. Not only was Professor Dan Markel murdered but think of his two sons, Benjamin and Lincoln. They were both young boys at the time, they had the most loving, caring dad and he went out of his way to be present and to give them his undivided attention every time he could be with them… no phone calls, no interruptions. If everyone grew up with a dad like Dan, this would transform our world… it would be a much better world. Dan Markel loved his two sons more than anything in this world and they took him away from those two precious boys.
I’m currently reading Ruth Markel’s book called the Unveiling. Ruth is Dan’s mother and of course, the grandmother of Dan’s two boys. It’s absolutely heartbreaking the way Wendi kept Dan’s family from having any contact with their grandchildren after Dan’s devastating, tragic murder.
I pray for the Markel family ~ Benjamin and Lincoln, Ruth and Phil Markel and Shelly, Dan’s sister ~ I pray that the Lord would draw each of them close, comfort them and restore their souls.
I pray that the Adelson’s confess their sins before YHWH.
I will never understand how these parents put their kids through such trauma like this😭

The wedding food not being kosher was a huge deal. He had to make an announcement to the guests & many had to leave, including the Rabbi that married them. It was a huge embarrassment & inconvenience.
I'm OBSESSED with this case & have watched the trial more than once. The prosecutor is phenomenal & everybody on the stand is torn up by her. Everybody in this case has a big personality & you won't find much better to watch on any show or movie.
That is humiliating though I can not imagine how that made him feel, how unfortunate and truly devastating for the children through all of this absolute nonsense this never had to take place!! Very disturbing extremely sad!!

As a jew who has people in his family who eat kosher and some who dont, it is a big f-ing deal. how they could do that and not inform dan until the day of is a big issue. The only thing i could equate it to is serving meat to a room full of vegans. Its a big problem

And Donna was arrested at the airport - on her way out of the country.

Two things I continue to be irritated and offended by whenever I hear updates on this case are, Wendy's repeated use of the name "Danny" when referring to her despised ex-husband, clearly trying to gaslight anyone listening to her and, changing her children's last names. The latter is just so cold and evil I will never believe she was not involved in Dan's murder in some way. Who the hell does that?!!

Wendy absolutely knew the murder was going down and she’s such a liar! I hope she’s arrested soon and that both she and her mother go to prison! The mother of the one who picked Dan Markel for her daughter and when Wendy had hesitated, Donna basically made her go through with the marriage. No mention is made about the children. What’s happening to them knowing that their uncle was involved in the murder of their father?? In these situations, the children always suffer.
Watching Donna get arrested was the best part of my morning, and I was already having a great morning! Thank you again for being the absolute best true crime reporter on UA-cam.

Darklivity did a 6-part series on this case as well. I learned things idk before, even though I try to consume everything I can on the subject. I learned something from Stephanie's deep dive as well. Darklivity is based in Florida and actually retraced Wendi's claim that she cuts through Dan's street sometimes because it's a shortcut, but it's not.

Wendi, in my opinion, is absolutely a part of this whole mess. How could she not be? How could her brother and mother be planning all this without her knowledge? What these people have done is horrible, and they should all be prosecuted for their part in it. The children have lost their father, and I really hate to see their mother taken away as well. But if she was in on the planning she deserves to be in prison. In my opinion, the worst person who has had a part in this is the mother, Donna. In my opinion, she is obviously the one who got the ball rolling. What a shame.

I’ve been on this case since it happened! I can’t believe it’s 10 years old! I don’t think justice will be served until Wendi is in prison!
The only thing I can say is the kids have already suffered losing their father and knowing the Grandma and uncle were behind the whole thing. They don’t deserve to lose their mother too. She will get hers eventually. The hellavator will be hot and swift!

Really? The guy who called the cops told the dispatcher EXACTLY what he heard n could see n the dispatcher asked "what's going on with him?" Really???
The dispatcher's chatting to Wendi on the other line, didn't listen and delayed the rescue
@@beatriceli4615As soon as the neighbor called 911, dispatch had immediately sent police and EMTs. I know dispatchers need to ask question, but if they would tell callers immediately that help is already on the way before they start asking questions, it would likely keep the caller (not in this case, but I’ve seen it in so many others) calmer or less hysterical when trying to give details to the question, many of which are asinine.

I’m glad you’re covering this case (again)! As a local to Tallahassee and Florida State alum, I’m following every detail of it in hopes that Dan’s family and kids get justice.
Wendi is definitely guilty… her drive (almost) by the crime scene just a couple hours after the shooting tells it all. Who sees crime scene tape on the road their kids live on, and doesn’t at least call to check on them!!!!????

Wendi: this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think Wendi knew, absolutely, about the plans for Dan’s murder. I think Charlie and Donna made a concerted effort to protect her and keep her out of the loop.
However, as part of their planning, they probably asked her lots of questions about Dan’s schedule, her schedule and when and where the boys would be.
Wendi is smart enough to have figured out *something* was happening - something was in the works. And I’m guessing she probably had no objections. If they were gonna plan the murder and leave her out of it, great. A win for her. And when she found out about the date/time of the TV repair, she figured out that’s when the murder was planned. Too many obvious clues for her to ignore. She knew, but did nothing to stop it.
That’s why she drove by the crime scene after the repairman left - to confirm what she had figured out based on all the obvious clues.
She knew, but didn’t actively plan. But she stood by and watched it all go down - to her great relief and happiness. She would now be free of Dan and could move back to Miami, totally unfettered.
In short: even if she didn’t actively plan the murder, she knew it was planned. She figured it out. She did nothing to stop it.

hmm i could see this based on how much of a control freak donna is and how overly invested each of these people are in each other (to inappropriate degrees). i can see her wanting to handle the kids’ situation on her own and going to the one son she has left as her errand boy. i agree that it’s very likely wendi knew something was happening, but based on the fact donna only called charlie after the undercover agent confronted her, it seems more likely to me that they were the active conspirators. otherwise, why wouldn’t donna check in with wendi too? i think donna wanted the kids for her family alone and it wasn’t really for wendi herself.
edit to add that it’s so clear to me how donna cares more about things going her way than her kids being happy because technically she chose dan for wendi and then when he wasn’t the right choice anymore, she just wanted the grandchildren taken away from him.

The cops are so nice to her! I got arrested once for arguing with my husband (we were young and dumb) And they treated me like absolute s*** lol. And I didn't argue or make any demands. I was a much better prisoner than Donna and they weren't nice to me at all. Donna is a murderer and they treat her like they're picking her up for a hospital stay or something

I've never followed a case as closely as this wild one for various reasons. I used to clean offices of dentists, oral surgeons and an orthodontist for many years so that's what mainly drew me in to this case involving a disturbed dental family. And now the case feels even more bizarre since Charlie is now in the prison where I live in Sioux Falls, SD, just a few miles from my house. Never imagined he'd be transferred here.
I will never think of this family as the Sopranos or that they thought of themselves as the Sopranos. I think we got to see a glimpse of a real mother narcissist who raised her children to adulthood as an extension herself. I really hope the children get through this.

Being a graduate of Florida State University this case became personal for me. I have followed this case since it happened in 2014. I can’t wait to see Donna go down and hopefully Wendy pay for her part in this too.

Let's be clear. WENDI could move to Florida. She couldn't MOVE THE KIDS. since she comes from a family of millionaires she could have EASILY kept an apartment in Tallahassee or a home there to stay when she DID have the boys. My mother is very similar to Donna, she tries to controls all our lives and I've been NC for about a year. She literally decided when my brothers would get married and whether they were sure or not, they were expected to propose to their then girlfriends. With one of them she decided she didn't like my SIL and told him to get a divorce 7 months after the wedding and since they lived in a house he owned, she told him to pack his stuff get a furnished apartment and his wife came home to divorce papers and a 2 week eviction notice. She has ruined our lives to varying degrees and some of us see it and some are fiercely loyal to her to the detriment of their own lives and relationships, even with their children. It's honestly like a curse having a parent like that, I'm glad the big brother got away.
They are loyal to the day when she dies and they get paid....
