This is spectacular. There is both satisfaction and not that you managed to condense years of work into this short video. So much work! "Not idly do the leaves of Lorien fall so I purchased these on Etsy" 😂
I love your attention to detail, and, dare I say, the sheer tenacity involved! FIVE years?! Your hard work shows! You did a fantastic job! (P.S. Jill Bearup sent me here, too - plus SUBSCRIBED! Looking forward to the next video!)
So funny thing...I found you video via Jill Bearup...and started watching, when I noticed "Hey, that mountain in the background looks AWFULLY familiar..." I proceeded to creep your IG profile and was thrilled to see that you're from Calgary! I live in the Bow Valley :) Love to see local cosplayers being represented :) And to think, I never would have found your video if it were not for a lady across the pond. Life is funny :)
God damn! 2 minutes in, and im already super impressed with your ridiculous level of attention to detail and your insanely amazing skills. EDIT 1: Now at 3:25 and is forever giving up the thought of ever cosplaying because *bows down* I am not worthy of milady and her skills make me hold myself cheap and without course. EDIT 2: 5 SECONDS AFTER EDIT 1 and your movie line/ build line mash ups are BRILLIANT and make me happy. EDIT 3: how to spot a cosplayer; can sew, work leather, make boots, make patterns etc etc. Etc with this level of skill but "fashion terms are not my area" GOLD
Holy shit this is absolutely amazing. Dont let kramer from living anachronism see this, he is going to die of jealousy. Also as almost everyone here jill sent me your way. Your work is just incredible
Ok, now I can use your video to justify to my friends why I have been "finishing" my LARP costume for the last 6 years!!! Great work!!! Well done! (p.s. am part of the Bearup gang)
I did an Aragorn cosplay in 2021 and I'm updating it a little to wear to this year's Renaissance Faire. I am truly in awe of your attention to detail, I'm so inspired! The day may come when mine looks this good, but it is not this day! ❤
Brilliant work. Very faithful and detailed, and well executed. Speaking as an archer, the reason Aragorn only wears one glove is immediately obvious! He keeps his bow hand bare because if he wore even a very tight leather glove on his bow hand, his grip would have a tendency to shift (the material across his palm would move as he gripped the bow) and this would, of course, not be good for his shooting form, which would then reduce his accuracy. You can't control how the material would move, so it introduces a random element that the shooter can't control. Aragorn probably hunts to sustain himself in the wild, which makes the bow his most important kit for most of the time, and a bow hunter only gets one shot. I would suggest that the padded leather wrist covers beneath the "cuffs" are actually the braces, and that the cuffs are correctly named, being primarily decorative/heraldic.
You're gonna laugh, but despite loving that character wholeheartedly, I had never even given a thought to his clothing. The hair, the sword and well, the character himself (masterfully played) stole the whole show for me ^^ I really appreciate that you go for handstitches when visible, for natural materials more often than not. This costume looks really authentic.
I totally relate! I didn't give much thought to it either until starting this project. I've made a number of things from LotR and it never fails to help me think about the character in a different way.
Amazing, I've been looking lately to finish my aragorn costume as well, (a process I started 6 years ago) your video is gold!!!! Please make more videos!!!!!
This is exactly what I've been looking for to help me craft an Aragorn look. Super impressive work my lady. Thank you so much for your time and effort putting this video together. Hannon le.
For the rock, the original is a wetstone, you can find them for relatively cheap online or in a lot of shops that sell knives/swords...and several of larger hardware stores.
I’d love to see more detail about how you secured the braids on the jerkin because it looked like a cool method! Also great detail and such a cool look
Thank you SO MUCH for this! There really isn't any information on an Aragon cosplay! My husband is trying to cosplay as him and we got some base pieces for the cosplay and this is So helpful when it comes to small details and weathering
I don't know anything about cosplay or clothes making and I only came here because jill said the words lord of the rings but I stayed for the cosplay details so please don't stop caring about those.
I'm currently trying to create daily outfits that are modeled after some of my favorite movie characters. I've got Han Solo figured out, next is Aragorn!
@@SnappingDragon Aragorn is difficult because he has many layers impractical for everyday use. However, a red Ghillie shirt coupled with a brown BDU jacket, jeans, and boots should fit the bill. Aragorn wears blue, red, and brown frequently so those three colors should embody his character while staying practically modern.
Pretty awesome! I am very impressed with your leather work. Seamstress here. Did you use a leather needle on your sewing machine? The right needle can make all the difference in the world. Also, if you have a thick seam to get through, when you start the seam, don't have the back of the pressure foot hangin off the edge of the fabric. Put a balancing piece of fabric, it won't be sewn, butted right up to the edge of the of the start of the seam. This balances the pressure foot and then your sewing machine will like you again. I use this method for any thick fabric that I sew, denim, wool, etc. I imagine it would work for leather.
Loved your video and the work! All well done and interesting. I do recommend slow down your voice over as you sound like you're racing a clock to get it all said. Otherwise, very enjoyable and thanks to Jill Bearup for the link!
I'm making my own version of aragorn using games book details and most importantly the movies that way I'm not bound by little details and can have fun with it
Honestly my pattern is no use to anyone. I did so much modification and trimming to the leather that it became quite a different thing from the original pattern I made.
I made my own pattern off of a yolked button down shirt I had & modified the heck out of it. Unfortunately I didn't document the process as it was long before I did UA-cam. The yolk isn't really necessary. If you aren't too picky a basic viking tunic pattern could work just fine, they have a similar neckline. I just gathered a bunch of movie screenshots for references.
This looks ✨amazing✨

I'm loving all the quotes you crowbar into this. Really wonderful watch. Thank you.
Incredible. And I love the Aragorn quotes sprinkled throughout
Those White Tree inlays look amazing, would have never guessed it’s just a sharpie and some weathering!
My goodness, sister... You knocked it out of the park!

You absolutely killed this!! I'm so thankful you shared 👍
I am too impressed to find an appropriate quote to express how great you did. Will come later and edit!

This is just *chef's kiss*, you did fantastic work here!
the amount of time i spent searching for a video like this one

Thats a amazing amount of effort, bloody well done !
The thought of making an Aragorn costume has crossed my mind once. Seeing the sheer amount of work it would take... Nevermind
Fantastic. The beveling and overall leatherwork is inspiring!
That looks fantastic! Now I want Aragorn cosplay.
Wowww. That is super impressive! To see how much effort and time you put into it really underscores just how terrific the costumers for LOTR were.
This is some serious craftsmanship! Brilliant work!

Oh my god this looks so good! I never new I needed Lady Aragorn in my life until now.
Excellent cosplay, great job on all the leatherwork and detailing! ⚔️ Also, kudos on fitting in as many Aragorn quotes as you can. 😁

Fantastic video and spectacular cosplay. The work you put in is mind boggling. Well done 🎉🎉
Awesome outfit! Love the idea of using elastic string for the lacing on the cuffs, I'd never have though of that =D

Wow. What an excellent video. So detailed and so skilled. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much!

I did use a leather needle but I’ve never heard the tip about balancing the pressure foot! Thanks for the tip.
I love it!!!! Thank you for this awesome video.
That is fantastic work! also i loved the little easter eggs you worked into your commentary.
Great work!
All your appropriately used "quotes" have me beguiled. ❤
Absolute legend!
Those boots sooo good everything else too
looks good, great work
This was very well done.
I do leather crafting myself and it is NOT always easy to work with. Sometimes it just says ... NO.
It's definitely a tricky material but so versatile if you can tame it!
@@SnappingDragon Absolutely.
Bravo! Great work and thank you for the video
Awesome! This is why UA-cam exists!
This is cool!
for the dagger, maybe buy one from a 3d printer, won't cost much and if you're patient enough it could look awersome and shiny :)
Nicey nice! Stellar work, can't wait to see what you do/have done next!
Edit: "I sewed the pouch out of scrap..." humble brag like an OG 😆
I would absolutely adore any information or guidance you could offer on how you made that glove
Oh gosh I literally just made a vague pattern by tracing my hand and adding seam allowance. No finesse whatsoever 😅
Incredible, i love it so much!
Amazing job!
That is just so totally cool and hot!!! Amazing work.

awesome
Would you be willing to share the pattern you used for the jerkin?
Honestly my pattern is no use to anyone. I did so much modification and trimming to the leather that it became quite a different thing from the original pattern I made.
wow! this is amazing
The mountains of Alberta really do make the photoshoots perfect! Did you take some of these pictures at moraine lake?
Not specifically at Moraine but in that area! Most were along the icefields parkway at Bow Lake and Waterfowl Lake.
Nice !
Terrific work! I was wondering what color leather did you use for the quilted vambrace?
Hmm I’m not sure of the name of the color, I just found it in a local shop.
Do you have any tips about making the red shirt? I've been trying to find a decent pattern or resource anywhere and failing for agessss
This video needed to be done, indeed.
this is sooooo cool
Could you share how you made those knots in the jerkin? You mentioned a shout out to M Sheradin...does he have a tutaorial?
I just posted a short video showing the process. Hope that helps!
