How to: WOODGRAIN patterns on LEATHER
Making woodgrain patterns is so easy and yet so effective! An excellent project for beginner leatherworkers. The only tool you absolutely need is a swivel knife, other tools are optional. Woodgrain works with so many different aesthetics: hobbits, elves, wizards, woods witches, boho, cottagecore etc.
I'll walk you through how to tool in the woodgrain details and dye and color the leather to really make the most out of your pattern!

This was very well done. I do leather crafting myself and it is NOT always easy to work with. Sometimes it just says ... NO.
It's definitely a tricky material but so versatile if you can tame it!

Am I opinion there's another meaning to aragorn taking boromir's vambraces, He's accepted and embraced his Heritage And lineage.
I agree. He just made a promise to Boromir that he will look after Gondor. Taking his cuffs with the white tree on them is a symbol of acceptance that this is his path.

How the hell did you find genuine bones, FOR A BABY ORC
Haha, I hike a lot so I find bones occasionally. I happened to find a large collection of deer bones while making this project. The ones hanging on his hip are deer ribs I believe.
Does… Does your local craft store not sell animal bones and teeth? Asking for a friend.

I'm currently trying to create daily outfits that are modeled after some of my favorite movie characters. I've got Han Solo figured out, next is Aragorn!

@@SnappingDragon Aragorn is difficult because he has many layers impractical for everyday use. However, a red Ghillie shirt coupled with a brown BDU jacket, jeans, and boots should fit the bill. Aragorn wears blue, red, and brown frequently so those three colors should embody his character while staying practically modern.

Did you have to keep reapplying water to the leather in that sun or would it have warped it somehow? 😅🤷🏻♂️ I know nothing about leatherworking
There is an ideal wetness to get good tool marks in leather. In this case yes I had to wet it repeatedly which isn't the best.
Did you use a pattern for the dark blue stitching?
The dark blue is a lockstitch. I didn't use a pattern I just went randomly between the other pieces.
Might i know what color dye you used?
I used fiebings pro dye in buckskin. The color of the main pack is not typical of that dye but every hide accepts dye differently. I used the same dye for the straps as well and I'd say that's typically what that buckskin dye comes out as.
