You were cracking me up, throwing yourself under the bus. “Remember when I put my plants outside in the direct sun? Remember when I planted my Pothos upside down, like 3 times?” 😆 I remember 😁
I got it from amazon but I've also seen it at Home Depot/Lowes - usually outside with the chicken wire fencing. Mine is called "Tenax hardware mesh" (I think it's linked in my Amazon storefront)
Can you do a video on the different types of plant grow - crawling, trailing, not crawling and such - and tell which plant type likes moss pole, which likes planks and such? Im on a moss pole hype at the moment, but I dont know about planks. Love your vids ❤️
Just bought a Golden Pothos, planted it in a plastic pot, and and am trying to grow it up a plank. Have planted a second one in a ceramic pot also with a plank. Testing to see if one grows better than the other up the plank. Both will be getting the same amount of light. Hoping the leaves grow large as it grows up the plank.
Hey Fern Much prefer your Dubia growing on the plank, can’t wait to see how far it grows. Aww your Dark Lord is so cute 🥰 again can’t wait to see this grow and mature. Loved this video and music so chill. Take care Xx
In my experience, Hoya Linearis propagates really super easily in soil, so I don't even bother putting it in water/leca/perlite. I just remove the bottom two sets of leaves and pop it right back into the pot. I've always had success!
Mine is currently on a plank and though it does grow fast and the leaves get bigger, the roots don’t really attach to the plank, so I keep adding ties as it grows, might be a humidity challenge. Hope yours go better. Love your videos!! 🪴
I have a huge linearis and it's getting bright light in the afternoon in a southern window. It's growing very wel there, but it does need a lot of water. It does NOT like being dry. I've recently bought another one and it looked very rough, like it hasn't been watered enough at all. This is definitely going to be a rehab project for me
I've stayed away from shingling plants, bc I'm afraid of bugs hiding/breeding behind the leaves. Please let us know if you've had any issues? You could try wrapping some rope under the lip of the pot and staple it to the back of the plank. Maybe that might keep it more stable for moving?
Hi, Your plants are beautiful! Don't know when you changed the lighting on your linearis but the large areas with no leaves are due to less light. Plants get stretchier and stretchier due to low/less light. Sure seems to be doing well though. Your Alocia its stunning. Think that is the largest of that type I have ever seen.🌱😁💜
Looking forward to seeing how far your Monstera Dubia will creep up the plank. It would be cool if it gripped to your wall and just got full scale large throughout the room. Great video as always. 🌞🌿💚
Lol, you're making me feel like I should get to work on my plant chores. ... after coffee tho! Also, this was a fine length video, don't even worry about it 💖
The Dark Lord baby looks so sweet, can't wait to see it grow, and the Dubia looks so much better on the plank. I am loving watching what I call your pottering videos, I love just pottering around my plants and going with the flow in attending to their needs 😁 Thanks for sharing
Thank you!! I think it’s cedar (but it doesn’t matter much if the wood is outside of the pot and not getting wet) and the container is just from Walmart x
Loving your amethyst ring!!! Gorgeous!! Also I believe Caitlin uses scotch tape.. so really same difference!! Love the plank!! I’m trying a wet stick of Hoya Australis Lisa.. you’ve inspired me.. idk what will happen but.. kinda exciting!!!
Never been so early to one of your videos loll. Good luck with your M. dubia! I have a Scindapsus I've been be meaning to get on a plank. I really need to get on that lolll.
Ooohh you gotta try propping your Linearis in LECA sometime! I don't use LECA for growing plants but I had a handful of balls and had read it's a dream for Linearis and girl! I was amazed! Now I'm making up reasons to root more 😂
Do you ever get the yellow houseplant sandy fungus and mushrooms grow up in your plants? I'm always getting those and its been years and i can't get rid of them.
sis, my monstera dubia does the same thing as yours, they look so similar actually. I've heard that they loose the silvery variegation as they mature, unfortunately.
About how long was the dark lord in your prop box? I'm trying to get a feel for how long philodendron wet sticks take before they can be potted. Thanks! 🌈
I felt like it took a long time, and it probably did since it was the middle of winter. If you provide something like a heat mat, or do it in the spring/summer I find it usually takes much less time.
Hi Fern.. could you use some packing tape to adhere the plank to the pot so you can move it.. Love your spirit and it doesnt matter how long the video.. keep smiling 😊 kisses to Olive..
I have a siltepecana that's not attaching and a adensonii who is. Plants planking 🤣 who knew. Also, I saw a pole made from styrofoam which makes total sense to me so I'm toats going to try that nxt.
Nope! But you'd want to use something more resistant to rotting like Cedar if you're putting it inside the pot. I don't have to worry since I have the plank on the outside.
I have to ask about the gong show reference. Is that a Canadian thing? I hear another tuber use it constantly and she is Canadian and because she is older I assumed she is referring to the old show. But you are very young and I would feel you have never seen that show. So is it that that show is still on in Canada or it’s just become a reference in your country to chaos?
Hahah I had no idea it was a Canadian thing but I looked it up and I guess it is! It just means something is a disaster/unorganized/a mess lol! I’ve said it my whole life 🤪
@@wildfern well I know there was an actual “gong show” but I knew you weren’t old enough to have watched it so I just had to ask when you are now the second Canadian I have heard use that term. It easy enough to realize what it’s referring to but it’s definitely not a phrase I hear used here in the U.S.
Can't wait to see all your plants babies grow!!!
Me too 😃😃😃
Ok- so you should definitely include “unwell” planters or plant stakes when you release new merch 😂
Yes! This! Would love to wear an "unwell" Fern tee too. 😂🥰
Having a day and thinking, please let Fern post a new video, and poof, wish answered. Thank you!!! Your videos are so calming and informative
Awe!! So happy to hear that 💚
Literally same!! Came home from work for lunch to get in bed, eat my lunch, and watch this 😭💜

I thought this this am.. "I hope fern puts a video out today.."

HAHAH right. I’m glad I’ve been on here long enough that we have these fond memories 🥲🤪
I'm loving all of your videos! They're helping me do my plant chores too!!
Yay enjoy your plant chores 💚🌿
Mine too😃
It looks sooo good on the plank! I’m tempted to do this with something. Thanks for another great video 😄

Oh wow! I actually think it looks WAY better on the plank! I wasn't sure I'd like it as much, but DANG!😍
I totally agree!!
Short is under 10 minutes, which we would still love
Every time I watch you, I check on my plant babies. I don't have many but I love them all. ☺️

Don’t be sorry about this “short” video. I would watch a 2 min video of yours and be content. 🥰
Bless you 🥺

You always use such relaxing and calming music that make me feel some type of way🥰
🤗
was procrastinating/unmotivated to start doing some plant chores 😂 guess this is my sign to do them after this lol
nothing better on a lunch break than a Fern video !!!
💓💓💓
Your dubia is gorgeous ! Even with the less silvery leaves! Seriously. Everytime I see yours I realize I need one one day lol
Yay for a chore video! I’m watching while I make breakfast 😊 thinking about how many plant chores I need to do today. 😂
Awe have an awesome day Sarah!! 💓

Yesssss I totally agree!! Them drying out is a big no. Not great for an under-waterer like me hahah
Love the linearis! Def a wish list plant for me 👏🏼
I giggle inside every time you say something is unwell! 😂
I’m praying for your Dubia 💪✨. That baby dark lord is the most precious guy 🥺😍.
heheh 💓 thanks friend! x
That alocasia dragon 🐉 scale tho😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love how your videos are part ASMR keep doing you
I watch the Canadian Gardener who is a soil scientist and she said that for hydro plants that only synthetic fertilizers will work.
Wow another video!!!!
I’m sewing a quilt binding while watching.
🥰
That sounds so relaxing. Thanks for watching!
I cut my planks super thin & use a liquid rubber coating for the part I put in the soil..just a thought

I haven't had it happen yet, but pests are a reason I'm not a fan of planks - it just makes it so hard to treat them while they are attached!
If you use a Cedar plank bugs won't go near it. They hate Cedar as it is toxic to them & they hate the smell.
@@debbiefox6846 Oh yes, brilliant idea!! Now I might try one of these shingling plants out, they are cool looking. Thanks

That would be so cool although I don’t know if my landlords would agree 😝
Every thing looks so easy when you do it. I'm always all thumbs
Hahaha it went smoother than I thought it was going to 👀
My dubia is the only plant I have on a plank and it loves it! I have it in my milsbo tall and it has crazy aerial roots 😍
Masking tape or art tape works even better coz it’s papery it retains some moisture and makes it root better ! Speaking from experience
Makes me miss my Dubia so much!!! I had a big one like yours 2 months ago, growing crazily on a plank but I had to chop it up bc of a thrip outbreak 💔
Love your videos, they have helped me so much! Love your jewelry, especially your rings!
Thank you so much ☺️☺️

Yes it really was quite the upgrade! I will be watching it like a hawk hoping that it grows and attaches to the wood. Thanks so much :)
What wood are you using? I wanna try a wooden plank extension too but wasn't sure what kind of wood plank is safe to use for plants.
Hi Fern, I cannot wait to see what wish list goodies you received!!
video coming soonnnnn 😏
How about an update on your milsbo wide. I want to see what you’ve got going in there.
Very informative Fern. Thank you. What kind of wood are you using for the plank? Also, where did you get that snap-on container. So convenient!

Good morning 😃😃🥰
Do you ever get the yellow houseplant sandy fungus and mushrooms grow up in your plants? I'm always getting those and its been years and i can't get rid of them.
Yes I used to a lot, I don't really anymore since I have started making my own potting mix. Increasing air flow (adding a fan) helps too!
@@wildfern thank you for the advice, i thought it was something i was doing wrong because i never hear anyone talk about it.
Hi Fern. Where do you get that mesh for your Moss Poles?
Kew gardens uses panty hose legs for tying out plants. It's brilliant and easy on the plant.
sis, my monstera dubia does the same thing as yours, they look so similar actually. I've heard that they loose the silvery variegation as they mature, unfortunately.
Yes they do, but usually when the leaves are much larger 😩 It's possible that is why, but I am suspecting it's due to environment.

You’re so welcome 💚
I have been trying to grow roots on my Hoya Linearis forever. How long is it supposed to take to root?
In the past it’s only taken mine a few weeks, but it depends on light and warmth as well :)
@@wildfern Mine is in the kitchen where it gets southern light. I’m going to move it closer to the window to see if the helps. Thanks for responding
