Loving your reviews man! The quality of the examples is always top notch. This unit is especially tempting. There's a level of magic and depth in the mids that seems very useful to the digital side of things. More so than the Orca I thought!
It’s been a journey, watching some of the earlier videos shows a few rookie errors, but the main thing was watching a lot of tech channels and seeing how they present and shoot their content. There is still a lot of improvement to take place over the next few months to make the videos more engaging and informative. It’s a great new adventure! :)
Yeah, this certainly ain’t no Vari Mu. It sounded more transparent, though, and less vibey. I’d love to have a variable mu compressor that has a 600 microsecond attack, though…. Sign me up!
It's certainly a vari-mu compressor. ;-) You can simply have this confirmation from the designer of the unit (check the website). "Vari mu Compressor with all-valve variable-mu design". The fact it sounds pristine is because of the audiophile approach from the man himself. So, you can definitely enjoy the 600 microseconds attack on this varimu.
There are a few bits! The chandler RS124 does a seriously good job at smoothing things over. :) I’m really curious about the Unfairchild, and the AT 660.

Thank you Lorn! :)
Well done such a good review 👍
Thank you!! :)
You're telling me you just came out of nowhere a year ago with A-game video production chops?

It’s a wicked unit, and very unique for sure. I do miss having it around here.
It’s whatever sounding unit, to be honest, definitely not Vari-Mu type.

6:22 😂😂😂 love it
Thank you! 😂😂
Great Job! Love the sound of this on acoustic guitar
Thanks Brian! :) it’s a lovely piece of kit!
Hello Alec, what is your fav Vari-Mu hardware unit ? :)
I’m a big fan of the thermionic phoenix. :) I’ve owned the manly vari-mU and the phoenix. They are both awesome!
plugin version of this comp has been released recently. Would love if you do a side by side comparison.
On it. :)
Though I don’t have the hardware anymore. :) it was a review unit.
@@alecbrits You can compare the processed files that are in this song with that through the audio files(would be) through the plugin.
Should try the Chandler Zener.
Thanks Micah, I’ve been wanting to try one for some time! :)
Insane review, thanks!
Thank you Dion! :)
Every thing already compressed , on bypassed too
I did mix the track a little before the demo. Will keep that in mind for any compression videos in the future. :) thanks for the feedback.
But what WILL accomplish 6:22??!

Wow that rack on the left is getting out of hand 😅
It’s all the same gear! :) just placed in a better more ergonomic way.
@@alecbrits that one stopped working on my girlfriend about 5 years ago 😂
