Join me in this exciting video as we dive into the world of the Warm Audio WA-MPX! They've just released their brand new product, and I was fortunate enough to receive two of their stereo units to check out. Throughout the video, I'll take you through the front panel features, including input selection switches, potentiometers, Vu meters, and a battery of switches with 48V phantom power, High Gain, polarity reverse, and more. We'll explore the tone switch, low-cut, high-cut, and tape saturation circuits. I'll also share my thoughts on the build quality and serviceability of this device. Plus, I have a special guest joining me, Scott Poley, for some exciting experiments with the WA-MPX. You won't want to miss it! Thank you for watching, and don't forget to drop a comment and subscribe to the channel. Your support means the world to me. Take care and be kind. See you in the next video!

YES!! Love this so much. Another great video, honour to get involved and play on such a great track.
Kudos to Warm Audio too - that’s a serious piece of kit.
Thank you so much for joining on the the track Scott!! :D
Scott and Alec, the dream team! Great track, Paul E
@@LittleHandsConcrete Paul! :) you absolute legend. Hope you are well.
Come for the reviews, stay for the tunes! 👌🏽Sounds great man, love your channel! 👍🏽
Thank so much Jordan! :)
Thank you for putting this one through the paces! Your track sounds awesome! 🙌
Thanks so much for sending the units through! :)
You’ve got a real gift for song writing. Makes your channel one of the best in my opinion!
Thank you Seth! :) in this case it was a serious team work effort with Ilana (St Catherine’s Child).
Alic is amazing ❤
Another amazing review of a very desirable unit Alec. I hope the algorithm wakes up soon and gives you the exposure that your premium channel deserves.
Thanks so much Simon! :D
You are the king of Reviews
That’s extremely kind! Will keep working on them. 🚀
Thank you for quoting the PRE169 in your video ! ❤
This WA-MPX looks like an amazing piece of gear. I hope to try it soon.
Absolute pleasure! :)
Just stopping by to say thank you because your songs in these videos inspired me to start writing my own softer acoustic music (I'm usually a loud screamo/metal guy.) Very inspirational, man.
Alan, that’s one of the nicest comments I’ve read. I wish you all the best with your writing of your alternative stuff! :)
Great song and review. Warm Audio should be proud of this demo. ❤
Thanks so much Anthony! :)
We are very proud!!🎉
As a proud owner of many of Warm Audio gear it’s great to see the Young’s reply.
@@aubyoung1218 Very Cool
@@aubyoung1218 thanks so much Aubrey!
How do we keep letting him get away with these Demos??? And not getting any music???
It’s part of the demo process. :) first single will be coming soon!
@@alecbrits 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
SAME BRO SAME!!! I could just take the demos as a whole album please 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Top drawer again with the tune. I'm sure I'm not alone in looking forward to your releasing some of this music. It's just steeped in class, and is unashamedly from the heart.
I don't own any Warm Audio stuff but if I was in the market for outboard, I think I'd try their equipment first. I think they've suffered a wee bit from Behringer Syndrome for the last while, so it's good to hear people speak positively about it on so many YT channels. They've made their way into some impressive studios.
Thanks so much for the kind words Stephen. :)
Yeah! Worth trying out things that fit your workflow for sure.
Wonderful video and song!
I think all of your tested gear sounds great, because you know how to record in a professional manner!
Keep up your great work and those amazing songs 👍!
Thanks so much Thorsten! :)
Agreed! It just shows that as long as you have great musicians and the right people behind them taking care of the technical bits, you can make great sounding stuff with or without the high end gear. A bad musician playing the most expensive instrument and recording through the most expensive chain it still will sound bad.
I love the way you film and edit your videos! Also a belter track!!
Thanks so much Charlie! :)
excellent as always so happy to see consistent content from the cabin;)
Thank you so much! :)
Far out! Beautiful song!!! Great song writing and recoding. I am not 100% sure what effect the WA MPX has, but what you have done sounds smooth and sweet.
Thanks so much! :D
Just added a wa-2mpx to my home studio. Used it four times, for a mic pre, DI, and frontend for mixdown. Since it is new to me, and the world, I was looking for other's reactions so far and found this. I love the sounds, but I also love the song! Nice work!
Congratulations on your purchase! :) thank you for the extremely kind words.
You found a great sound here with this warm audio unit!
Great dynamics, very easy to relax and listen just like a great record
Beautiful
Thanks Dean! :D
Hey Alec. Awesome Video here. Congratz to the song and the production. This MPX is an interesting product and seems to be versatile. Thanks and greetz from Germany. Carsten ✌🏼
Thank you so much Carsten! :D
Well, that was a total joy - two of my fave humans making beautiful music, what's not to love. XxX
Yes mate!! :D so glad you enjoyed it, can’t wait to get you on a video soon too! 🚀🚀
@@alecbrits loved it as always matey - and anytime! X
I've been kinda doubting if warm audio stuff is good or not, but this one really hit me, it's just amazing! I'm so curious about them now.
I hope you do their other equipments in some point of future!
It’s a great piece of kit! :)
I've got 3 tracking rooms full of their preamps along with the vintage legacy brands. I can only speak for myself, but I think they're good.
Excellent work, always excited to see another video of yours. Exemplary.
Thank you so much! :)
Broer, it’s time to release your album of the full versions of these songs. They’re wonderful.
Thanks so much David! :) all in good time. Currently wrapping up a couple albums with clients currently.
This sounds amazing! I would describe it as Dreamy vintage with modern clarity. Would love to see a breakdown of your recording process.
Thanks so much Jack! I’ll hopefully be doing more of that breakdown type video soon! :)
@@alecbrits awesome! Can’t wait to see.
It does sound a bit brighter than a vintage ampex 351 pre.
Damn Alec another absolute TUNE! Great review 🙌
Thanks Alex!! :D really appreciate that.
Wow! I will continue to see your stuff! Thanks!
Thank you! :)
this was great!
Thanks Daniel! :)
Like it - sounds really nice - present without harshness.
Agreed! :)
WOW sounds great.. Great over all review, including song and performance!
Thanks so much! :D
Came for the review. Stayed for the song! :) Really like your voice man!
Thank you so much! :D
Everything you review sounds so GOOD!!!
I want them all Hahaha
Thank you so much Toy! :D
Great sound, thanks 😎
Thank you so much! :D
Great sound...awsome song
Thanks so much!
Dude, I love your music, and I seriously love how suggested the drums are in this track. Of course the performance with the bundle sticks play a big role on that but did you approach this recording with that in mind when you used that beautiful ribbon mic as an overhead? Also, you can hear how oomphed everything gets with that monster of a pre, definitely a great piece of gear.
Thank you so much! :) the AEA is my usually suspect when recording in the cabin control room as I don’t have much space. (As seen by the fact that it’s drilled into the wall 😂). The bundled sticks were the choice for this tune mostly by chance. I think this was the third take, initially meant to be replaced after writing the second verse with Ilana. I thought perhaps chorus 2 could have transitioned bigger with sticks and more definition. But as the three days of recording when on, I kinda just enjoyed the subdued nature of the grass sticks, so they stayed! :)
The MPX really did a good job on the kit, specially with the overheads. Big fan.
Really like the song, like your voice, it’s a cool, soothing sound!
Thanks Kane! :)
You are not only a brilliant sound engineer, but also an amazing artist! 🤍
Thank you so much! :D
Beautiful song!
Thank you so much Simone! :)
Alec, nice review, but GREAT song! Hearing some John Mayer influences. Well done sir.
Thank you so much! :)
I mean the gear is one thing, but that is some excellently recorded music. Respect!
Thank you so much David! :)
Beautiful Song!! Really!! Love it!
Thank you so much! :)
wow what a song!!! love the whole video!
Thank you so much! :)
Very Nice! Thank you!
Thank you so much! :)
love your reviews! Also, that Tele sounds so good. I wonder what it is?
Thanks so much! :) it’s a 1958 telecaster.
Hey Alex, Great walk around London Town . Much more interesting than sitting in the wonderful Cabin. As a subscriber I would like to see you post a Logic project or project stems for a song that we can remix, add some parts and send back. It would be fun, interactive and probably great for subscriber engagement. Have a good day
That sounds like a great idea! I’ll see what I can do to make that happen. :) thanks so much.
It sounded great! Wow
Really solid unit isn’t it? :)
@@alecbrits 100%
Love your music man.
Thank you so much. :)
This sounds so good.
It’s a great unit for sure! :)
Sounds good man! 🔥🔥
Thank you so much! :)
Love it!
Thank you so much Rêve! :)
Expert tone pulling man
Thank you so much Tyler! :)
It all sounds great ,
But that tele sounds awesome .
Agreed! :D
Dang man, this pre sounds gorgeous. I’ll have to get one and test it out against my OG Ampex 350… from this example I may like the warm better which is saying a lot.
That’s awesome Jed! :) they might compliment each other well.
Thank you very much
Thank you! :)
Great Video Alec. Did you end up keeping the unit?
Sure did! :)
this song is beautiful man. is the full song on UA-cam?
Thanks so much! :) it’s not out yet.
good video - well done
Thanks so much Thomas! :)
Hey Alec, was the lead vocal mic straight into the mpx?
And also did you run through the whole bus through the mpx as well? Thanks
Yeah! Vocal mic was straight in. All processing was shown during the demonstration. The buss was summed in Logic Pro.
Nice
Thank you Jemar! :)
Good review. But I mean, that's a hell of a nice song. I walked away from the computer for a minute and did a double-take when I saw it was the same review playing.... Well done. Followed.
Thank you so much Jeff! :D that’s extremely kind. I really appreciate that.
Amazing stuff as always Alec!
Never seen that acoustic guitar vertical mic pair setup before, how are you mixing those channels? ❤️
Thanks Aidan. :) they are mixed left and right. Seems to do the trick pretty well!
@@alecbrits Sounds fantastic!
I wanna hear this full song tbh
Working on it! :)
great song man!
Thank you so much! :)
The thing I don't understand about Warm audio is that they're supposed to emulate vintage gear, but literally none of their demos on YT sound "vintage". Quite the opposite, they sound really transparent and modern on every video testing warm gear.
I agree. I thought this one sounded quite sterile. I was expecting some overdriven 60s sounds
Thanks for the input! :)
@@erikarabie Right. I mean it's like every piece of gear they have is supposed to be a 60's clone and yet every one sounds so modern and clean. It's like I'm living in topsy turvy world
Can you explain your full chain? For example, you connected WA-MPX to a CL-1B, then conntected it through which Audio Interface? You get what I mean? I want this sound but I'm sure its not just WA MPX,, but its even saturators such as SSL Fusion for the master maybe? Can you please please give me the whole chain? Even your plugin chain if you don't mind . Only vocals
Sure thing! :) 1972 Neumann U87, WA-MPX, UAD Apollo X 16. Melodyne. Then on reverb it was the Seventh Heaven. My master buss processing is the UAD API 2500, waves L1 maximiser, and the Fabfilter pro L2.
The vocal is automated a lot as I try my best to not use any other processing to showcase the products as purely as possible.
the gear sounds good but the songwriting is fantastic
Thank you so much Chris! :)
A great song ----- we want to know where to listen to your songs ----- come on - they are too good to hide in a corner.
Thanks again Thomas! :) first single will be coming soon!
This is a very interesting….
It is! :)
How does the warm MPX stand up next to the Neve Newton for quality / tone?
Yes - I know they are very different modules however, as you have demoed both I was wondering what your opinion is ??
They are super different to one another, both in tone and in functionality. The Newton is fast, open and incredibly detailed, with the option to add your harmonic choices in as you go. The WA-MPX has a very specific tone, with the ability to be driven and of course the lack of EQ and compression separates it from the Newton even more. I think they could work together in a rack, but they share very little tonally, each is great, depending what and how you are recording. Hope this helps. :)
@@alecbrits thanks for the reply
Yes very different things however, which one sounds better to your ears and which one would you buy for sound quality??
Asking as am considering which one to buy I know it's down to my taste and wallet but as you've had both to play with I wonder which you think is the better quality and by how much on e.g a percentage scale
@@TaiChiRehabnot sure I can honestly say which is better. They are very different tools for me. I like the Neve for more transient material and the warm for vocals and bass related instances.
Nice sound and nice song.
Have you use it on Mix Bus ?
Thanks so much! :) I did not use it on the mix bus as it did not have stepped pots.
Must be honest. I think the great sound is 90% Alec, 10% Behringer, I mean Warm Audio. It's great that WA, Behringer and others make classic gear affordable.
Thanks so much Geoffrey. :) I guess that math works for any gear that is being used.
woww
Thank you so much Newman! :)
I'm curious about which reverb you used?
Seventh Heaven reverb by liquid sonics. :)
@@alecbrits Cool, sounds great! :)
Whats the name of the song? Is it on Spotify??
The title is Getaway, and it will be released later this year. :)
Sounds like John Mayer
Thanks! :)
Which Interface? 😊
Universal Audio Apollo X16. :)
Nice. I have the Apollo Solo TB3.
Man I love this! you know how to make your fans crazy!
Thank you so much! :)
