Hi, I’m 67 year old. My school never did anything like this. I’m not sure I could have handled all this if it did? I left school with no qualifications at all. But I have learned so much since then. I found this interesting as a sort of précis for Macbeth and you were so good at giving these quotes meanings through interpretation. Thank you so much for your work.
i think for the second quote itll be uselful to remember the line above it as well: "Stars hide your fires" so then you can talk about the rhyming couplets which macbeth talks in this whole stanza, which links to the supernatural and shows its power as the witches speak in rhyming couplets and it tells the reader that there is a key message behind these lines as Shakespeare often used rhyming couplets to highlight an underlying key message
This is one paragraph that I would say when talking about the theme of power: Shakespeare portrays power in Macbeth to tell the reader that no other character is stronger than Macbeth. We see this when Shakespeare writes 'Brave Macbeth - Well he deserves that name.' The adjective 'Brave' connotes strength which suggests that Macbeth is capable of many things, for example, when Macbeth kills Duncan in order to become king, also, when he kills Banquo because he seems suspicious of him. The verb 'deserves' suggests that Macbeth is worthy enough to be titled 'Brave' as he is capable of killing many people and many others can't do this. This leads to great success for Macbeth because he results in becoming king, however, he later then gets killed by Macduff for his actions. Shakespeare intended to make the reader think that Macbeth is unstoppable and undefeatable as killing many people comes across as a small task for Macbeth. This is why the reader would feel cautious for other character's lives, because the chances of Macbeth succeeding another slaughter is extremely likely. As a result, it's clear that Macbeth is the strongest character in the play because of his killing spree.
@@turtlegaming8961 I wrote this to show the reader how I would analyse 'Brave Macbeth - well he deserves that name.' Depending on the question (mainly a power question), you can use this quote if u can talk elsewhere in the play or if it's in the text.
i just want to say, this is a great paragraph but Macbeth is a play so there wouldn't be a reader but an audience. i dont know how harshly edexcel critiques that misconception but just in case.
In act 1 scene 3 macbeth states “ let not light see my deep dark desires” this quote already implies that macbeth has began to think of his villainous thoughts. this is set straight after he meets the witches and before he comes in contacts with lady macbeth. this means that he is the catalyst within this situation as he hadn’t had a push from lady macbeth to think in this manor. this means he has always been a traitor and never really cared for the king and his people but only for his self. the word ‘light’ can be seen as multiple different metaphors, in this situation i think it is too describe God. he states that he does not won’t god to see his desires. this further shows his ambition as he even though god may be against his actions he is still willing to have these thought of murder. shakspeare used macbeths ambition too signify to the audience how his own ambition is his fatal flaw, or hamartia. this will make the jacobean people believe that if they would challenge the king it will end in likely death

my teacher told me that expelled cuz i apparently 'hit her'. im sorry but if stabbing her in the groin with a keyboard is now the equivilant of 'hitting' then this world has gone soft. im just saying enjoy your learning now before your teacher acuses you of 'hitting' her
OCR makes you learn 'moments' not quotes. So after analysing the extract you must do a min of 2 paragraphs or more on one moment- eg one scene of the play. You get marked down if you talk about two different moments. So we have to learn like 4 quotes for each moment.
"take ten days each to learn these quotes". Yeah I have 13 hours

severe last minute revision
some mistakes that i caught
"Brave Macbeth-well he deserves that name" is not by Rosse but by the Captain
"Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow" is not Act 5 Scene 2 but is Act 5 Scene 5
"Full of scorpions is my mind" is not Act 2 Scene 3 but Act 3 Scene 2
Last minute revision gang
GUYS GUYS GUYS one quote here is wrong it is actually 'let light not see my black and deep desires' not deep and dark please dont accidently loose marks for this by analysing dark as it is not actually in the quote. Just a heads up

My teacher told me to learn 9 quotes for each character and theme in Macbeth. So basically she told us to learn HUNDREDS of quotes for each book.
my teacher told me that expelled cuz i apparently 'hit her'. im sorry but if stabbing her in the groin with a keyboard is now the equivilant of 'hitting' then this world has gone soft. im just saying enjoy your learning now before your teacher acuses you of 'hitting' her
@@charliewilliams5672Lool what
@@charliewilliams5672some delinquent 💀 embarrassing
11:03 okay but why did this make me fucking DIE WHY WAS IT SO FUNNY LMAO
OCR makes you learn 'moments' not quotes. So after analysing the extract you must do a min of 2 paragraphs or more on one moment- eg one scene of the play. You get marked down if you talk about two different moments. So we have to learn like 4 quotes for each moment.
Can you please do analysis of these quotes, it help a lot !!!
my exam tomorrow and no barely any qoutes
