Only downside to daily is how loud the gears are. If you’re ok with the noise then they are great for daily use. I personally love the sound and I’m very happy with them. So yes they are worth the upgrade.
@@ANL4JC yes if you keep the stock transfer gears then 5th and 6th are quite. With the upgraded IAG transfer gears there is a little bit of noise but it’s not nearly as loud as the straight cut 1-4 gears.
is that grinding noise normal at 0:37? bought my saabaru a couple monthd ago and i get that noise. been worried about it but can never figure out what it is lol. i guess i have straight cut gears?
Assuming its an sti or wrx, it could be normal. They tend to have louder transmission than most cars. Still, it should not be nearly as loud as this one. Get it checked though
@@krispyeggs yes. One of the main reasons why they made helical gears is for noise. The tradeoff is often helical gears can't take as much unga dunga as strait cut. I personally love how strait cut sounds. Like even the reverse gears in most manuals sound cool to me. Then you have traditional automatics, the non CVTs, which have planetary gears. Often times even more quiet than helical and especially with Subaru, those planetary gears can take a hell of a lot more than unga dunga than helical manuals( just the gears unless you do more work on the valve train) and they do have shops that make the Subaru 4EAT/5EAT easily take 600hp+ but who wants an auto on a street car lol
@@Katzzz01the design of the gears are the same regardless if it's sequential or h pattern. The synchros are replaced with dog clutches on the gear, that's what makes it a dog box. A sequential uses a shifting barrel where the forks lay on that's controlled by shifting up or down.
Oh man, sounds flatout amazing
No pun intended?
This is now my favorite video on the internet
Damn that's love at first sound I need those in my STI.
I HAVE WATCHED THIS VIDEO 50000 TIMES I NEED IT
@@Untamed_STI definitely the best thing I have bought for the car.
this reminds me of my old 5spd ppg syncro gearbox i had in my old car...... oh how i love the sound!
How did those hold up? I've been looking at a set of helical cuts for my GC.
I can’t wait to get these for my sti drivetrain swapped VB!!! Enjoy the car man. Hope it’s a forever car ❤
when my center diff bearing went out it sounded like this lol
Can’t wait to get this after my warranty ends lol
So are they fine for daily, city use? Worth the upgrade?

@robertcurnutte24 I'd be ok with the sound as 5th and 6th are quiet right? I imagine the performance is a lot better with longer gears... 👀😁🚀
And congrats for the car and build. 😁👏🏻

@robertcurnutte24 got it. Iag sent me a quote today and it includes chromoly transfer gears... as far as clutch fork, are you running stock or?
Easier or harder to shift?
Shifting is exactly the same as a stock 6 speed.

@@brayan_m yeah i figured out i have straight cut gears, i own a 92x so its basically a 2005 wrx, i never knew straight cut gears where loud like that

So how long does your straight cut gears usually last until they break?
@@ltmongoose1594 I’ve had them for about 2 years now and haven’t had any issues. So I hope they last another 10 years lol
Are you going sequential?
No I’ll keep the H pattern.
@@robertcurnutte24that’s possible?! I’d didn’t know that. Wouldn’t sequential be easier? Why keep H pattern?
@@Katzzz01 they are way more expensive for starters. And I enjoy a classic H pattern.

Sounds so
Good! It would tempt me to Hoon around too much or just keep driving more and more and burn gas! 😎
no pull?
I’ll get a video of a pull in a couple weeks.
@@robertcurnutte24yes please
Would do the same with lancer ex
how much was this?
Spicy expensive! I bought the 1-4 gears, rear transfer gears, and one piece carbon fiber driveshaft, and a new clutch…. So it was around 9k
@@robertcurnutte24improved performance i guess? Can u pls do more vids on the sound? :))
@@madhunter6420 yeah absolutely. I’ll put another video up in a few days.
