"SOS" was ABBA's first smash hit after "Waterloo" that manifested their position in pop music. Before this one, everybody thought, they'd disappear like many other Eurovision Song Contest winners before ABBA. Their singles did not too well internationally. Then "SOS" came and "Mamma Mia" was not too far around the corner. Eventually, these two became big hits. Without them, we could have missed all the other stuff like "Dancing Queen" and many more.
This is 100% BANGER !!! .. One of the best pop songs ever recorded ! .. Heard it hundreds and hundreds of times and NEVER get tired of it .. Great reaction, guys 👍
You’ll hear a quote from SOS - “that little piano riff” at the beginning - right at the end of a song from ABBA’s latest album, Vogage: ‘Keep an Eye on Dan!’
Absolutely correct about the "chord progression" - it is one of the best in all of rock! And it is a piano chord change not a guitar chord change. John Lennon, Ray Davies and Pete Townshend all considered SOS to be one of the finest pop songs ever written. It is a classic. If you want to hear Benny sing try the live version in Australia of "He is Your Brother: That is an outstanding track and features wonderful live vocals particularly, as you might expect, from Frida and Agnetha.
SOS is my second favourite ABBA song. This is the song that really launched them on their journey to superstardom. Just a brilliant POP song with outstanding Piano and brilliant sung by Agnetha as always. Next on your ABBA reaction list should be the Live version of I’ve Been waiting for you…my favourite song and one that is very underrated in my opinion 😊
I have Agnetha's solo album "Elva Kvinnor i Ett Hus", in which she sings the original version of "S.O.S." in Swedish, it was eventually recorded in English for their eponymous-titled album, in which all of the remaining members (Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid) sing back-up vocals. This song received praise, from the likes of John Lennon and Pete Townsend. This song "solidified" their status as "pop superstars", and it's style would ultimately direct their path, and define their unique "formula" for catchy pop songs with amazing "hooks". Actually, there are many "hooks" within "S.O.S." ♫♫♫♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♥
Lay your love on me for a psyvhotic and hypnotic dance track by ABBA. I really have too many to recxomend so I just pivk one at random to focus on every now and again. Suzy Hangaround is a fun one from their early years.
SOS is the hit song that hooked me on ABBA back in that day in my teens. Even John Lennon (Beatles) and Pete Townsend (The WHO) claimed it the greatest pop song ever written and recorded !
This was the first Abba song I ever heard when I was 6 years old, after my late father brought home the original Abba Greatest Hits vinyl from the city (They didn't really have any hits then LOL and SOS was track #1). Still not sure I've heard another song that packs this many iconic moments into 3 minutes and change. Great reaction, thank you!
YES!! Please do "Suzy Hang-Around." Benny sings lead. It's a cute song, and I have not seen any other reactors do it. The riff you recognized is the end of "Keep an Eye on Dan" from their "Voyage" album. It was a callback to "S.O.S."
Thanks for share, hugs for Marissa and You. Take care and enjoy this seasons. Are good souls the two. Are part of the best things/good groups of video in all the internet.

This is one of their best songs. Agnetha recorded this in Swedish for her 1975 album Elva Kvinnor i Ett Hus (11 women in one house). You should get into that album!!
The 50s-60s girl group type harmonies, along with songs containing those rousing progressions and hooks and familiar sounding musical parts, plus simple, but relatable lyrics is how Abba can get ya.
RIP Lasse Wellander, ABBA's guitarist, died on Good Friday from cancer aged 70. All his solos were fantastic in all the different bands he played and his thighs were the second ones to be massaged by Frida and Agnetha in the live version from Wenbley 79 of Does your Mother Know?
This is tied with "Super Trouper" for my favorite ABBA song. I actually searched for "ABBA SOS reaction" and this video didn't come up, so I had to go scroll through the list of all your videos to find it so I could watch. It was worth it because I always love seeing someone enjoy music I like.

That riff on "S.O.S." sounds familiar to you because it is partially used at the end of "Keep An Eye On Dan" from the "Yoyage" album . So basically you heard it before you even knew "S.O.S" even existed. But that's not your fault since the time lapse between the songs is only *FORTY SIX YEARS*, haha . It's great to see that ABBA has attracted a whole new audience. Their songs simply transcend time. Greetings from Ireland !

Tyler, you need to at least see some of the performances of these ABBA hits, trust me it adds to the experience. As an example watch ABBA S.O.S 1975 - the one in the cat dresses. Love your enthusiasm.
John Lennon considered SOS the greatest ever pop song. (If you don’t know who John Lennon was, ask your grandparents.) It is in D minor - which has a reputation for being the saddest key. I heard the song when it first came out. I was five years old. I was an instant ABBA fan for life. This has always been my favourite ABBA song. There were a couple of brilliant dance club remixes around in the early 2000s.

It would have to be hard to imagine for two people who weren't born yet just how huge ABBA were back in the 70's. They came onto the music scene with "Waterloo" and it was a freight train of success from then on. In fact, even though I liked their music, I got SO sick of hearing them or about them. It was relentless back in the day. TV, Radio, newspapers, billboards, etc. etc. You couldn't get away from it all.
