Not if but, when we finally upgrade our construction grade shower we are 100% making a niche from one end of the wall to the next. I love that look. Well, you know what comes next... Another fantastically informative video guys!!! Keep droppin da knowledge guys!! I read so many of the comments and everyone is so thankful for you guys!!! Dirty Jersey out!!!!
Thanks for this awesome video! We have been looking at pulling our tub and putting in a new shower and this is super helpful! also, thanks for giving me encouragement and help in starting my own channel too! Thank you!!!
awesome!! Always happy to help in any way. And congrats on your own UA-cam channel, way cool. This curbless shower was challenging and our Schluter rep was there for the installation. The next video will tackle how to set the linear drain
is there a video of how you finish the niche on this particular project? I am doing a similar project and wonder if you used the Kerdi corners inside the niche? You've helped me so much, thank you!
You do great work. I have a question. Why do you install the wall boards first and not last? Isn't it better to install the floor first then the walls so water runs off the wall without a chance of getting into the corners?
How much did you hold back the channel body from the location of the glass wall (inside edge of glass wall to the CL of the drain)? Looks like you have a 2 - 4" reveal beteewn the DECO-SG channel for the glass and the edge of the channel body - is that right? Thanks in advance - awesome videos and super helpful - I have to slope my shower pan towards the glass as well because of a beam in the crawl so it's great to have this example to follow. Thanks!
Hello! Our shower is 62x 68 and we are wanting to do a curbless also. It’s a brand new build so we plan on dropping the floor. What are the options for the shower pan?? I see they make a 72x 72? Do we just cut it down , but then we have to have the drain in the middle. And suggestions??
Interesting to see the usg board. I like it better then the Kerdi. For Kerdi, too much messing around with thin setting the Kerdi band, not to mention the build up. With usg or goboard you can waterproof the joints and corners with the approved caulk and seal with tape and liquid roll on membrane. That’s my $.02
Very nice!! Thank you for the instruction! How did you seal the hole for the wire? One small critic, Niche is actually pronounced "NICH" or "NESH". There isn't any "T" in it.
Pro tip: place your washers only (spacing them evenly like you said, 12" on 16" studs) first then fasten the screws. It's amazing how much faster it gies.
is it better to use schluter board? or sheet rock and schluter membrane? also, if you use sheet rock, can you go down to the floor, and THEN build your mud/slope pan?
@@Pellenga74 well, i am cheap, so i did sheet rock with the full membrane. i recommend NOT doing that, and using the board. would have to be much less labor intensive.
I want to mount a glass panel on my curbless shower. I want to use stainless brackets not anything that is chrome or aluminum. So this means anchoring thru the Kerdi Board into the subfloor. This will leave a path for moisture. Not sure what other options there are. Any ideas?
I struggled with my drain frame, getting it adjusted wasnt the hard part, it was getting thin set all around it,so its fully supported,I used blue tape to keep excess thinset ,from falling into drain body, but it stuck too well and was a pain to clean the next day,as I didnt want to bump the frame plus the perforated grate has a bunch of sharp stainless it sets on,just made it difficult to keep clean,I used a wire brush, sponge, and flat screwdriver to pick the thinset and blue tape out bit by bit 8 feet ugh

thank you, you’d love this niche. Plenty of storage and the LED light is very cool. Just be sure it’s not a load bearing wall 👍🏼
Veeeery,very nice presentation,RESPECT👍👏👏👏👏👏
I like that niche, looking forward to seeing the project completion.
thank you, it's a very cool option for showers and the light will make it even better

Home Repair Tutor awesome! Yea we have been debating between something like this and a claw foot. Not sure what would be easier though
@@LaceyFamilyFarm the tub, lol...but we love this shower

One small critic, Niche is actually pronounced "NICH" or "NESH". There isn't any "T" in it.
that hole was sealed with Kerdi-Fix and the entire niche was waterproofed with KERDI-BAND, we'll show that in another video
Do you need to plumb the studs before you hang the Kerdi Boards?
Yeah works great. Too bad it hasn’t been available for over a year!!!
make sure you show the parts for the led light, transformer etc,in part 3
Pro tip: place your washers only (spacing them evenly like you said, 12" on 16" studs) first then fasten the screws. It's amazing how much faster it gies.
great tip, we’ve seen installers do that as well. The lines on the board help 👍🏼

killerrush77 ever get an answer to this? I have the same question.

look into Schluter DECO-SG, it doesn’t require anchors through the waterproofing
thanks for that . comes in stainless which great. that will work nicely and look perfect.

thin-set removal is important, using a paint brush and sponge helps a ton
