The thing I love the most about the first game is that you can just stay as friends with Selina and it actually makes more sense. In fact, she appreciates having a friend more than a guy wanting to date her.
Yeah I agree with what you're saying. It just didn't feel right to immediately sleep with her and also I think their farewell is much more wholesome when they part as friends rather than lovers.
This game was insanely underrated. The stories were great and the changes made with the main villians were a cool twist. That theme played after each episode, amazing. Wished they could have made a couple more of these.
I love both Batman games. I'm really curious what you're gonna think about Enemy Within, because the way they handled the story around Joker is super interesting. Alongside Wolf Among Us and Season 1 of Walking Dead, the Batman games are peak Telltale imho.
I love this game and Tell Tales attention to detail. Especially in this game. And the slogan line were such good forshadowing like "Put a Dent in crime." and "A new face".
One detail I like in Episode 5 is if you fought Cobblepot as Batman in Episode 4 and confront Harvey as Bruce in Episode 5, Bruce catches the coin to severe the connection and control Two-Face has over Harvey, with the latter even begging for Bruce to give it back so he knows what choices to make, as he's so lost and broken, he can't make his own decisions anymore.
I really liked how they used the same trick in the insanely good *"Batman: Broken Promise"* animated fanfilm. Nice homage to Batman Telltale, in a great fan movie full of call-backs and Easter eggs. In the game, Harvey Breaking down and starting sobbing after saying _"I can't decide, I can't, I..."_ and falling down fetal position style really made me feel for him... Harvey Dent is my favorite major Bat-rogue, so I was quite happy with how they did him in this game, and of course having the great Travis Willingham voice him was an excellent voice. We couldn't save Two-Face in the first game, but we *can* change John Doe's life trajectory in the sequel, and I'm real happy that Telltale learnt from that... It's a real shame we never got another game, but at least the interactive comic book ("Batman: Sins of the Father") was a nice bonus to expand this universe, and taking on Deadshot (I won't spoil the other rogues we face) is a good idea since the sniper sequences lend themselves well to an interactive comic book. It's not a book that every Batman fan NEEDS to read, but if you're a fan of the Telltale saga, I'd say go for it.
About the left eye thing, there's also what happens if you don't take off our cowl when confronting Lady Arkham. If you attack her, Alfred is freed, he attacks her, and she retaliates with her staff, making Alfred lose his LEFT EYE. In a way, since this only happens if you make a certain choice, you could argue that this is Bruce's fault so it can also fit into the "Wound caused by the actions of a Wayne" thing
Without any spoilers: Just judging by your fascination with John here and the preferences of playing as Bruce you highlight, I am excited to see you play the next parts of the game. They take all these elements to greater heights and tell a fascinating story no matter what path you go down
This Batman game is another love for me and what got me into the whole story of Batman, seeing these different interpretations of the characters feel so refreshing and unique it made me crave for more. Just me gushing about all the new sides we get to see is a true wonder! ❤ I love you’re cover on things great too!
Glad you enjoyed this game. The Telltale Batman games are actually some of my favorite Batman stories due to how they deviate from the norm with the villains and other characters, while also enabling the viewer to instantly recognize them. John Doe/Joker is the biggest out of all of them, but pretty much every villain got something that separated them from other interpretations.
If i remember correctly, if you want to help Harvey the best, then when you get the choice to stop either Harvey or Oz first, you want to stop Oz first. (In case it wasn't obvious, Spoilers ahead) When you get to the Manor after stopping Oz, you appear as Bruce Wayne and Harvey has taken multiple hostages. As you approach Harvey, you get to make multiple dialogue options to try and get through to him as Harvey attempts to kill hostages. Once he has been convinced or not to let the last hostage go, he attempts to kill himself flipping a coin, where you can grab it and pocket it and he'll be taken away peacefully.
I can't wait for you to cover the enemy within because the choice system is much better with your choices impacting whole sections and even other peoples arcs. Like depending on how you play, episode 5 is almost completely different.
Finalllyyy, ive been waiting for this video lol. The way it sounds, you havent played the second season yet, and youre in for a ride. I love how the dynamic between 2 very iconic characters is changed dramatically from the norm (no spoilers, iykyk), and the buildup to the finale is great imo. Cant wait for that video
I love the premise of Thomas and Marth's death being an assassination instead of being occidental. I also love how if you save harvy, his transformation into two-face is more mental as well.
I’m very much looking forward to when you cover The Enemy Within, I love how they handled John & Bruce’s relationship in that game & all honesty it helped get a better understanding of Batman & Jokers relationship making me look at the Arkham games in a different light.
Season 1 was good and all but characters like Harvey were doomed from the genuine lack of actual choices, he will still be a criminal but he’s just One-Face now.
@@Twocoolman115while that’s true, thing is no matter what you do Harvey will always become a monster. Sure he has a good chance of rehabilitation if the good choices are made, however he is always inevitably reduced to Two-Face here.
I mean, yeah, but that's kinda the entire point of his character in any iteration. He never (well, almost never) suddenly became insane because of being disfigured, it was always just a trigger for his mental problems to surface that he always had within since childhood. In this particular story, disfigurement isn't even the trigger, this time it's the drug injection that you can't prevent him from receiving. The only thing that face-burning does is intensifies his condition, which is why his personality is different, more violent and uncontrollable if you don't save him.
Very under appreciated and over looked. I'm a massive Batman fan and loved these 2 Telltale games, especially the take on Harley and Joker's relationship in Enemy Within.
The thing I hate most about this game is how everyone treats Bruce like crap even though he had nothing to do with anything. "Your parents were jerks, so we're gonna take it out on YOU, personally, even though you were literally a child when they died". Assholes.
I got both telltale batman games and I wish I played it earlier. I really loved being a brutal batman and the games brutality as it felt comic accurate. What I’m trying to say is I love the Batman telltale games and really hope you cover enemy within
I played this as the free Chapter 1 demo on PSN. And I have never made a purchase faster after playing a demo. This game brings to life so many aspects of different Batman stories (the ones I saw most were Year Two and The Long Halloween) and they twisted them into a very original take on how Batman started out and how Batman built up his rogues gallery. Overall, I liked this game and spent a weekend finshing it so I could see how it ended. I'm saddened that they didn't finsh the trilogy
Great stuff man. Hoping that you do The Enemy Within later on down the road! Played them via a buddy of mine share playing them with me, loved them and was surprised that not a lot of folks had done so too, very underrated title.
You literally hear Carmine say it like "Fal-co-ni" at 5:06, he's not saying it differently from anyone else. Also, the correct pronunciation is "Fal-cone-ay", not "Fal-cone".
About the left eye. about 90% people on earth are right-handed, so statistically more punches will land on the left side of opponents face than on the right side
I've played the first game a few times, I personally always found Harvey undeveloped - then again, I wasn't paying too much attention to the dialogue. So, you've opened my eyes to that.
Also fun fact: Troy Baker have voiced Batman since 2012 with the LEGO Batman Series of Games beginning with the 2nd one. He would also voice another LEGO Batman in the LEGO DC Straight To Video Movies, and later the TMNT Vs Batman Movie. He’s also the only actor to play both Batman & the Joker, as he’s voiced Joker & Batman in various projects.
So, I played this right when the sequel was released, not being aware of it originally, and not having any knowledge of how garbo Telltale had gotten over the years, and I was hooked, entirely on it being a more 'distinct' Batman then just another Arkham or Nolanverse retread. Focusing more on Bruce, the duality between him and Batman, instead of Bruce being an afterthought, really had me going, and using the QTEs to get the 'Batman moments' really was the perfect call. And while the story might not have changed much, I DID enjoy that some choices DID lead to different sequences entirely, even if only visually different. (For example, going after the Penguin instead of Two-Face has Bruce get a new version of the Batsuit instead of an 'older' one, but 'risks' the Batcomputer/Wayne Manor. One thing I loved, both in the presentation, and even in the game UI, was the CHARACTER that Bruce has. Not mentioned here, but there's an option in game to just wander around the Batcave as Bruce, and it auto-updates with character files and little trophies as you go about, and one of the most entertaining bits, is going over to the Batmobile, as it has a prompt to rev it up and change it's appearance to either it's true form, or Bruce's car, and Bruce has a quip for like, the first ten times you do it, it's fantastic.
If you can/are able too I would love to see you cover persona 3 reload as it truly is a great game that would fit in with what you do, while being a linear game it offers a lot of things to do and ways to play the game
Haven't finished the video yet but i need to mention something anyway. My memory is a little hazy, but i believe there's an implication that Oswald's father was killed by Thomas and his associates and it was covered up as a suicide. So the Wayne's are hands on responsible for the death of both of Oz's parents
This telltale game is great, and there are a couple others from the time period that were good enough to break through. My favorites were always this and its sequel, Tales from the Borderlands, and Wolf Among Us (Can't wait for the sequel!).
Love how you picked up on the eye thing. I never did. It actually tracks as if you leave the cowl on in season 1 when vicky has Alfred hostage, Alfred will lose his left eye!
Please either replay episodes 4 and 5 to choose Wayne enterprises at the end of episode 4 or just look up batman telltale episode 5 two face scene. With how you mentioned Harvey throughout the video I think you would love seeing the version of the episode 5 opening that features Bruce taking down him instead of Cobblepot.
That Bruce Wayne shares the spotlight as much, if not more than Batman and that the game lets you sometimes choose to go civilian or superhero to face a situation was great. It's not something I usually see in superhero games. But I guesd the genre's and engine' limitations alowed that possibility to shine.
I havent played these games in a while, I think I replayed them once back when the weird shadow mode dlc released (I'd love if you mentioned them if you did a video on season 2), but remember really enjoying both of them.
Didnt play it myself but watched the game on YT as well as the different outcomes of each choice. Sad that it didnt sell well cause the story is amazing
You missed a lot with this vid. I was hoping to see the great stuff from some of the choices you can make. Telltale games may all be "all streams lead to the same river", but they also embody "it's the journey, not the destination". The game, depending on how you play, is a good mix of Bruce and Batman. The meeting with Hamilton Hill in particular is a great Bruce moment if played right. Also, facing off against Oswald at Wayne Enterprises as Batman can lead to a great redemption scene for Harvey as Bruce confronts Two-Face and potentially talks him down.
You handled Selina terribly lol just awful. Her whole arc is meant to tell her shes more then a thief and she can do some good with her abilities and it plays a big role in episode 2. Thats not all she is
Love the content and positivity. Please still do Days Gone as that game deserves more love. Also need to see this finished with The Enemy Within another must is The Wolf Among us as Season 2 of that is on the way
i love the game and especially the sequel with how different yet familiar both games are with what we knows of Batman lore. always wanted them to continue making more but just like with Arkham Origins it seems they never will or will screw it up, like WB did with Arkham Shadow and VR exclusivity.
With how much you talk about the symbolism of the chess board in the Arkham knight video, I’m surprised you didn’t mention the symbolism of Bruce swapping the knight and the king to get to his lab
I'd love a Batman game like Detroit: Become Human. Give us a game where our choices matter. Let us save Gotham and steer Bruce to a better place of mind....or let us be the Batman who while still awesome really only perpetuates the cycle of violence which leads to his endless fight against supervillains who only exist because he isn't what Gotham truly needs him to be. That would be a fantastic game I think. Very very hard to make. But it'd be so good.
I've played season 1 5 times and made a lot of different choices and yet I haven't seen the scene from 10:07 I didn't even know that scene existed, someone please tell me how to activate that conversation with Vicki vale.
From what I remember, in episode 1 there is a mandatory choice where you choose to attack Falcone through the police or the media. If you pick media, you meet up with Vicki. There will be different dialogue options.
OK seriously, in quite a few of your videos on FPS games you talked about wanting a game that "isn't afraid to take the gloves off" I am begging you, PLEASE play "Ready or Not". If you want a game that isn't afraid to do whatever, that the game for you. I won't spoil it but some very heavy topics are involved and some of the implied stuff [only implied because it makes sense in the game] is EXACTLY what you are describing you want a game that will not be afraid to do
honestly this game is what got me in to Batman. before, I knew about Batman but I just didn't care. I just thought that he was some billionaire playing dress up, nothing exciting. but the way this game shook up everything I knew about the characters was so cool. it's my favourite version of Batman. season 2 is a bit messy but Bruce's arc, along with others that I will not spoil, made the game so worth it.
The thing I love the most about the first game is that you can just stay as friends with Selina and it actually makes more sense. In fact, she appreciates having a friend more than a guy wanting to date her.

OK seriously, in quite a few of your videos on FPS games you talked about wanting a game that "isn't afraid to take the gloves off"
I am begging you, PLEASE play "Ready or Not". If you want a game that isn't afraid to do whatever, that the game for you. I won't spoil it but some very heavy topics are involved and some of the implied stuff [only implied because it makes sense in the game] is EXACTLY what you are describing you want a game that will not be afraid to do
Pls make a part 2 😔🙏
HELL YEAH DUDE GREAT VIDEO
honestly this game is what got me in to Batman. before, I knew about Batman but I just didn't care. I just thought that he was some billionaire playing dress up, nothing exciting. but the way this game shook up everything I knew about the characters was so cool. it's my favourite version of Batman. season 2 is a bit messy but Bruce's arc, along with others that I will not spoil, made the game so worth it.
God I hope newtelltale will make a sequel.
Related, I know it is not, but ask how KotOR is going, I would like to. Waiting, on the back burner, or off the table, is it?
Please make a video about the metro series
1- Metro 2033, 2- Metro last light, 3- Metro exodus
These games were so fucking good. I should play them again sometime
It made their Game of Thrones so much more disappointing in comparison
I love the armored batman suit in this game
Telltale Batman is underrated!!!
Can you do Minecraft Story Mode next, another underrated Telltale game please!!! :)
This is probably my favorite Bruce Wayne
