FYI: Piercing guns are some nasty shit, and ear infections are mainly caused by them. Go to an professional piercer, they use sterile single use hypodermic needles which lowers the chance of ear infection significantly.

Yess. That’s how I got mine done, and I had no issues. My mum was very ‘anti piercing gun’ (thats the best way I can put it), at least for her own kids. Cuz she knew about the nasty side of the guns so both me and my older sister got them done at a proper place and it was pretty painless (except for my sister who was getting her second ones, but thats cuz she hates needles)

I got mine done at a mall stand with a piercing gun. They gave me too small of an earring, so the earring started to go IN to my ear. Then we went to another piercing place where they gave us new earrings, but I was allergic and for the past 8 months still have been too afraid to change the hypoallergenic earrings I got 💀

when I was young I also really wanted my ears pierced.🤣 we got them done, with a gun at Claire’s and my ears were so irritated even weeks afterwards 😂 we tried many different materials & metals, nothing seemed to be good for me, so we removed them, retried later but this time with a gun at the SWAP MEET LOL and as you would guess, the same thing happened.
As an adult, I was able go get them redone, with a professional piercer who used hollow needles, and the issue all along was getting pierced with a gun, i’m at a 00g in my lobes, no problems at all! Guns are so terrible I honestly don’t even know how they haven’t been banned yet.

My mom always had this rule for me growing up:
“You can’t do something till you’re old enough when I did it, then you can do it!”
So I could’ve gotten a second piercing at 15, a tattoo at 17, and drank at 19! However I was sadly a goodie two shoes in a a lot of things. Plus I knew that stuff like that was permanent, and saw plenty of my classmates get stuff they ended up regretting, so I waited till I was 17 to get my second piercing (though I did have to have it close up when I was in the army) and my first tattoo ended up being my 21st birthday present from my mom as I was sick for that birthday so I couldn’t go out drinking. And I’m actually glad I waited and got something that I really liked. I’m thinking now that in my 30s, I want more stuff. Especially tattoos, I only have 5 at the moment, and want like 20 more!

For so many years, I dreamed of my grandmother and I visiting the town where my grandmother grew up. I wanted to experience it through her eyes, hear her stories, and have her point out the places that meant so much to her. We always thought we had all the time in the world, so we kept putting it off. Then she had a fall and needed surgery, but the plan was always to go once she recovered. It was going to be such a special trip. Sadly, my grandmother passed away last Saturday, and we never got to make that journey. Don’t wait-time slips away faster than you think.

the feeling you are talking about when you looked at those younger girls in line for their piercing is what I call "age unbalance" when someone younger does something you feel like you should have done at their age or younger.I have learned to deal with it by reminding myself its better to do the THING/maintain what progress I have made.Their will always be someone younger doing stuff whats important is just doing it when you feel ready and that its never to late to hit up old goals.

This video hits so close to heart if im being honest. I got my ears pierced at a very young age and pretty much sine young childhood my mom has told me that if I need anything I can just tell her. A few months ago we were at the mall and I said that when I started making money I wanted to share with her, but she stopped me and said: "Ive already lived my life, you're still young. As long as you're making money to support yourself without me needing to worry about it I'm happy". I SWEAR I'mma take her out to the mall one day and let her buy absolutely everything she wants.

Growing up in the church like that, too, makes it interesting looking back at how such small things could be such a big deal. My youth taboo fascination was heavy/dark music (The Cure, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Alice in Chains, etc), and loved to wear t-shirts of my favorite bands. When I started to be around more church peers at school and attending early morning seminary I started to feel guilty about it. I would compromise by wearing a flannel shirt (this was the 90s...) over top when around church or family things. Eventually the guilt won and I gave away the shirts to my non-member friends and "cleaned up" my wardrobe, especially when preparing for my patriarchal blessing and mission.
It's amazing how leaders could make you feel like the spawn of Satan over such little things like that. So happy you finally did what you always wanted to do! I now proudly wear my favorite band shirts all the time again.

I hate feeling like I HAVE to have my mom's "ok" on everything cuz that's how I grew up. Always had to have parents permission or I'd get in trouble. So I wanted to go to Miku Expo this year and I told my mom I'd pay her for gas, time off work, food (if she needed any after getting me to the airport), and any other compensation and she still said "no". Why? Cuz it's too dangerous for a girl to go by herself to New Jersey. She wouldn't bat an eye if my bro went by himself. Ugh! So I took matters into my own hands and paid for flight, hotel, food, Uber, the works and got a ride courtesy of my counselor at the time. When the day was nearing, my mom found out and had my sister-in-law tag along. She wasn't mad or whatever, but like, girl you yelled at me in the car about this and now all of a sudden you're okay with it? I don't get my mom! Anyway, I got to go to Miku Expo and meet one of my online friends and it was the best day of my life.

Something as simple as an ear piercing can mean a lot as one of your limited freedoms, so it sucks to constantly have it yanked away from you. For me, it was getting my hair cut the way I wanted. it's funny to me how you touched this. Since I was about 9, I wanted to get a piercing for my ear, but I definitely didn't want to get my ears pierced, specially since I'm a boy (man?) and that just felt unusual with my social circle, something too exclusive for women. So for years I never did anything around that idea, but the itch to get that piercing never went away either.
Until one day I happened to find out what clip on were, and that changed everything. I even got the exact same piece as I envisioned all those years ago, and honestly I love them now, I go out with a single clip on more often than not and not only did my fears about it being too girly were completely unjustified, I legit like how I look and a lot of people complimented me on it,

    • @Callie-gator
      @Callie-gator 3 дні тому

@@MarwanHadidi They’re known as Latter Day Saints now, they’re a branch of Christianity who study the Book of Mormon along with the Bible and other texts. Rules change over time as prophets get new revelations, and times change. For example, polygamy used to be fine, as the majority of people also believed it was fine, but eventually a prophet decided that wouldn’t be acceptable anymore. The main church as it’s known today rejects polygamy, but there’s a smallish group of Mormons who decided they still wanted to do polygamy so they broke off and are doing their own thing. I’ve heard that in recent times more piercings are fine, along with other things. But, it’s all up to what you think is best. Just take care of yourself and treat your body well. If you think things over thoroughly, you can make the choices for yourself. We’re here to make decisions, and it’s not our place to judge others.
(I realized writing this next part I got side-tracked, whoops) I myself am I Latter Day Saint, and I know everyone has different experiences. I know there’s a lot of people who have bad experiences with the church and I feel sorry for them, no one deserves that kind of stuff. There’s bad people no matter what. The Bible, which Latter Day Saints also study and follow, says that we should love our neighbor, and that’s how it should be. Jesus didn’t judge others, so neither should we. Latter Day Saints are encouraged to invite others, and make all feel welcomed, regardless of gender, age, sexuality, or appearance. Someone having a tattoo or piercing doesn’t necessarily affect their faith, it’s just an accessory. Wearing a necklace doesn’t change whether you get into Yale that day or not. Just like life, it’s all in the way you interpret it, and the choices you make. I’ve heard of many stories like this one where parents are unreasonable and just weird. People suck, but eventually those children will be able to move on and live their life how they want, and that’s the whole point.

As someone who also grew up in a religious household, the biggest restriction for me was movies. My dad didn’t allow me to watch a lot of movies simply because if there was some that HE didn’t like it was forbidden, mostly PG-13 movies but sometimes even G rated movies like Toy Story because he didn’t like Sid and how Buzz and Woody yell at each other. Which is funny because plenty of kids in the same religion watched those same PG-13 movies all the time with no restraint from their parents. 😢
