In this video I make a roll saddle bag from walnut and leather for my bike! All the leather and hardware is from Weaver leather supply. www.weaverleathersupply.com
You make these non woodworking crafts seem very approachable where I might not have ever considered leather work. Thanks for sharing. I have been looking forward to seeing this since you mentioned it on the Making It podcast.
For some reason when I make something out of leather, I think the whole thing has to be made out of leather. Seeing the walnut sides reminds me that I'm not thinking outside the box. I need to stop limiting myself. Thanks Jimmy. Be safe, keep making, and stay awesome.
I have a dream. To put a Jimmy Dresta brother and his workshop at the beginning of every street in every country in the world. In this way, we would have a place where residents of all ages could get inspired, dream, learn something, seek advice, have fun and laugh, take shelter when afraid, and the world would be more beautiful, life would be more livable. Jimmy we love you. Lots of love from the city of Samsun, Turkey.
All of your recent cool leatherworking projects have inspired me to give it a try. First instinct is to go down the rabbit hole finding tools. This is going to be fun. Cheers
Very nice! I imagine some people might wish to add a quick-release mechanism to the handlebar attachment so they can just take the bag with them when they reach their destination.
Thanks for the inspiration , gonna make one for my daughter......for some reason I've got the song raindrops keep falling on my head Stuck in my head now 😊
Old wood and leather bags had a small pocket chiseled along the inside face with holes facing the edge so you can get the wood and leather sown together.
One thing that I would iterate is to space your slots the same width as your strap.. Then it gives it a symmetrical square shape where it loops through, but more importantly: it insures that you don't have a weak point; it makes sure that the strap between your loop hole is at least as strong as the strap itself. Or you could even go a little wider. I just wouldn't have it smaller than the width of the belt. Just a thought. Cheers.
That looks absolutely great. And its big enough that with the money in your wallet you might be good for at least 2 trips to the grocery store.with it.
Nice bike accessory! I like the leather projects you've been doing lately. However, I think the cool bike needs something else, maybe some Diresta made ape hanger handlebars with a Diresta made bicycle bell. Now that would be cool! 😁
Jimmy, definitely picked up a few good ideas/techniques from this video. BUT....I think you need to design and build a cruiser now, a bike. There is room for art, style and design.
This was excellent. As a longtime wood butcherer, I have been wanting to change things up with more leather, steel, copper, brass and glass mixed in. I might just have to give something like this a try.
Just started getting into leather working and a new Diresta leather video!! Great timing! Love the different way you do things such as the brass rod for stability. Always an Inspiration.
Fabulous Edwardian ambiance to it: A world without plastics & for the rich elegance in all things. Lovely job, thank you for sharing!

Leather is great to play and get started.. it’s very forgiving with mistakes thank you!

Every time I watch one of your videos, I think to myself, man, I really need to step up my game!
Love your work Jimmy! Let's make a pair of boots next!
*I WANT ONE!* That would look great on my Specialized Diverge.
And yes, I'm serious. I want one.
Or my Specialized Crux 👍😀
@@jbratt Nice!!!! 🚲😍

❤
Absolutely gorgeous.
And I love how you used the metal rod to stiffen the opening.
Another great project. Very thick leather. Make a strap and put it in the bag. Then you could take it with you if you went shopping or dining.
All of your recent cool leatherworking projects have inspired me to give it a try. First instinct is to go down the rabbit hole finding tools. This is going to be fun. Cheers
Great idea. I would add a handle (like a briefcase) so I could take it into work with me after I lock up the bicycle. 👍👍
Is there anything you can't do? Love the no nonsense approach of your videos...
Way cooler than a milk crate 😅
That must have been movie money..😂😂🤦🏻♂️ beautiful build, Jimmy!🔥💪🏼👍🏻
The comfort and ease of operation highlights the mastery on display here. A process as beautiful as the result.
Very cool. Only thing I would add is either Brad nails or screws all the way around.. That glue won't hold very long.
Who know you were a saddle maker? You're amazing Mr. Diresta.
Videos like this make me wish Weaver was based in the UK.
Very nice! I imagine some people might wish to add a quick-release mechanism to the handlebar attachment so they can just take the bag with them when they reach their destination.
Classic bike bag. Love how it turned out. I think the bike needs air in the rear tire 😉
beautiful bag Jimmy. You are the best. The bench you made in Manhattan, I had to go sit on it because I think you are my hero.
I think you are getting really good at this leader work. Thanks for sharing Jimmy.
I’m very impressed with your craftsmanship once again! Leather is timeless ! Great project, thanks for sharing!

Classy! I really like the combination of walnut + leather + bright brass buckles.
Excellent! What a talent you are Jimmy!
Old wood and leather bags had a small pocket chiseled along the inside face with holes facing the edge so you can get the wood and leather sown together.
That is too classy! Love it, Jimmy!
Again Excellent ! I like all your projects, but especially when you do leather. Cheers my friend.

Bag turned out beautifully. Amazing work as always

Looks like somewhere some St. Bernard dog 🐶 should be wearin that ! Cool design Jimmy
I half expected two things: a thumb-operated bell at the end, and Jimmy to toss a burrito into the bag before riding off... 🤣 Great leatherwork Jimmy!
Unibomber rode a bicycle everywhere and strangely looks a lot like my buddy jimmy. Coincidence? Maybe.
Another cool project man!
I can see that being useful for hiking as well! Love it!❤
very nice. love the satchel. just add a flask for the cool days and nights.
Next episode please make a bike to go with the bag 😅❤ you never disappoint
You are a master craftsman, an inspiration.

Бочонок рома туда отлично зайдёт!😊
Every time I watch one of your leather videos I think I can do that! I still haven’t but you have given me the confidence to try it!
Haha, you look so cool, hoodie and sunglasses, and a real b@d@ss bike with leather bags strapped to it. Awesome, Jimmy!
beautiful bag
Awesome! Looks great 😊
I have that same razor knife! It’s been my absolute favorite knife to date. People really underestimate the usefulness of replaceable blades.
Золотые руки !

Beautiful, Jimmy! Really amazing work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The straps are secured with clasps, and the bag itself has rivets... It can easily break off
LOVE it. Beautiful work Jimmy!
I use brass nails and glue to attach leather to wood, looks good
Very Nice.
Great video. Love seeing all the other stuff on Jimmy's bench too. Very cool build. Exra Fancy. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Great little project. $100 bucks easy if you purchased in a retail establishment. Another fantastic Diresta video.
Likely quite a bit more, since I've seen leather duffel bags over $200
Edit: Tote bags with neither buckles, nor wood, nor adjustable straps...
Thank you!
