Breaks my heart to know Samantha had already dealt with being SA'd by someone else only a couple months before what Israel did to her. Absolutely soul crushing what happened to her.
On her resume, the "positive attitude under stress" that couldn't have been more accurate. I wish there was some way I could go back in time and save her.
same, i wish Duane or James had a gun. there was so many chances for her to get free. Duane coulda stopped him if he wasnt in his sleepwear. Duane coulda ran into Keyes at Common Grounds then called the cops once he saw Keyes return to get the rest of Samanthas stuff. He could have called once he saw Keyes in her truck. Im glad he did leave her ID and debit card in the truck that night because if he didnt Keyes wouldnt have been arrested.
I know this was recorded just the next day after the abduction but it's so sad and crazy to me that the cop doing the interview didn't know about the surveillance footage or that Samantha had reported an SA incident a couple months before. Maybe I am naive but you would think that investigators would have AT LEAST pulled her file and interacted with the owners about camera footage. This poor guy must have been so discouraged after this interview. They hadn't looked very hard for evidence at all.
He might have known but at this point everybody is a suspect and so they need to go through everything from this persons point of view to coperate the story or find inconsistencies. The more information the cop gives him or confirms the more likely it gets that a potential suspect curates his story along those hallmarks. That would be just stupid.
This cop has zero bedside manner. Her boyfriend is breaking down sobbing and hes like "So... Anyway..." Like damn, at least give him a little reassurance.
They didn't know who was involved at the time of interviewing this young man or Kimberly. They are ruling people out at this point. They had to push a little to see how they'd respond. Either could have been an accomplice theoretically.
Yes you don't often hear the perpetrator describing his horrific crimes as if he is describing the most streamy erotic penthouse novel that his imagination can dream of.
It’s disturbing how they were so rough on Kimberly and Samantha’s boyfriend during their interviews, yet were constantly joking around and laughing with Keyes like they were best buddies or something. Doesn’t sit right with me at all.
I didn't notice anything particularly rough with this guy, other than being matter-of-fact because they are working. But, any way you slice it is an incredibly hard thing to go through. Poor dude. They needed a lot of information from IK over a much longer period of time, so to try and strong-arm information out of him would have greatly worked against them. They needed to build at least a bit trust for him to open up, and being "friendly" is the only way to do that.
This here is a first interview, to gather facts, nothing more. The Keyes interviews that are public and you are refering to took place *months* after the fact, and the FBI people are building and keeping up report with him in order to get out *some* information about victims, which Keyes held back for various reasons. Apart from this "pretty sloppy" taking of Samantha he was being maticulous in everything he did before.
I'm fascinated by people that somehow aren't aware that detectives routinely play buddies with criminals who are obviously narcissistic. They change the way they act depending on the behavior of the criminal.
I understand the police have a job to do… But this poor kid. All these years later, I hope he’s OK. You never get over it. It just gets easier with time.
It's brutal, but considering the fact that Keyes waited there for the boyfriend to show up with the car to take them BOTH and their car, he is better off like it is. Keyes lost control and just took her in his own truck, something he (probably) never did before, and what ultimately lead to the police/fbi finding him. He often used his victims' cars before to take them, commit other crimes like bank robberies and throw off investigators.
The guilt Id feel if I were told I almost saved my loved ones life would haunt me forever. I'm so pissed off that her father and boyfriend never got the chance to confront him and watch him die.
As soon as he said the part about the video, and the guy jumping through the window, he should have got right on the phone and contacted the owner to get that video in play, valuable time was wasted here with this COP. He needs to be re - trained, or fired.
All these different nuggets about Keyes and a woman doing very "Keyes like" things coming up in interviews and files got me thinking he had a girl that helped him out with a lot of stuff.
I’m sorry but Samatha and her boyfriend has ZERO SURVIVAL SKILLS ! Keyes could’ve been caught on more than 6 occasions . She could’ve gotten away over 7 times .
Poor girl I hope she is in heaven I think that when they talk now here the demon kills her in his home And how crazy it was that this poor guy had the chance to save her Sometimes live gives you the chance to save your situation So you must be very very carefull with eveything happening around you All the fucking time Ok Maybe i want to think that he had the chance to save her. But really Did he not If he only would have seen or heard about the pictures from the camera He would know Becouse he loved her very very much And to hear him crying Maybe at the same time when she was raped and killed Is so sad so so sad
This is a rough one, poor kid is so broken up. I hurt for him.~~
My heart breaks for the victims and their friends and family. This poor young man ☹️

It’s chilling how the boyfriends and Keyes accounts of that night at the truck was pretty much identical.
Why chilling?! Izzy never lied. Ever. He could’ve, but he didn’t.

I agree. That creeped me out as well.

They don't have time for that. They need information fast at this stage it was a kidnapped ransom situation. It's not therapy.
@@Vale0x3 it literally would take 2 seconds to show empathy.
Thank you soooo much for this!!!
The cops were so poor with this kid and with Kimberley. They got no empathy or compassion at all.
Lol that's really reaching for something to criticize these cops for.

Which just tells me you are unfamiliar with police interview and interrogation techniques.
Usually its the boyfriend who is guilty when a young woman disaperes.
I understand the police have a job to do… But this poor kid. All these years later, I hope he’s OK. You never get over it. It just gets easier with time.
At this point he would be the prime suspect. Boyfriend usually is.

How do u know Keyes was waiting for the BF? Never heard that
It’s never been substantiated that he was planning on taking both. It’s speculation by TCBS
Keyes admitted it in another interview. There’s another interview on this.
