MailChimp is a powerful newsletter tool, that is free to start with. And if you’re using your website for your business, chances are you would like to entice people to signup to your newsletter by offering some sort of information for free. This is typically in the form of an ebook or some sort of downloadable document.
This video shows you can upload your ebook and how you can add it to the final welcome email so that when people signup to your newsletter, they will receive a link to download your pdf.
Thank you for this. I've been struggling for so long and with this I actually made it work within 10 minutes. Thanks so much!!!
Phew, at last a tutorial that makes more sense!! The other videos have been so confusing, thanks for making it so easy to understand. Yes it was definitely VERY helpful.
Thanks for the kind words Dani! 😀
Thanks so much Mike... I have been searching everywhere for a simplified answer! Much appreciated.
You are a life saver! I have been searching for this for days now. Thank you!!!!!

Thank you
Thanks!
thanks!
Thank you, it really helped! Little question: what happens when one of my clients already who is already subscribed wants to download a pdf file?
Thanks
just wanted to thank u.
☺️ made me smile! Thx u
Great video. One question Mike.. did you have to upload the Pdf file to Mailchimp first? Is that upload process straightforward?
Question, how do I send a testmail (from website/optin) without having to use new e-mails since they are already in the LIST?
Thanks for this tutorial, the problem I'm having here is at the top of the message I kept seeing the name of the previous audience I used, when I created tags from it, it was still the same. The heading remained the same and it doesn't apply to this new list I'm building. Thanks
Can this be done using the Popup form instead of a page form builder? Cannot find options in popup
Hi make can you do one like that show double opt-in with custom "Please Confirm Your Email" Page? I am using WordPress with Thrive Theme.
Thank you so much... You made it so simple.... I'm gonna give it a try..
What about if i want to give them a choice of downloads?
Awesome! If you're looking for various options, I don't think my video will help. But the basic idea is that when you want to diversify a list, so in your case you would want different points of entry (e.g. the download), you need a newsletter setup to trigger different emails to be sent that contain the unique content. I haven't been using MailChimp for a while but it I would assume it's possible on their paid plans ..not sure about free plan
I’m testing out automatic email systems now I’m going to modify the code
Can I have more than one Landing Page (2 for example) and each with a different opt-in (eguide pdf) and then the new subscribers from each Landing Page get added to my Master List? At the moment - my first Landing Page is connected to my Welcome letter and has a pdf. I wanted to offer another Landing Page. Thanks Mike....I hope you understand what I'm trying to do. Maybe there is a better way?
Great video Mike! Keep up the great work! How would you make the confirmation email more engaging/informative as you suggested in your video?
Thank u! Really motivating :) That's a great question and I'll tackle that in an upcoming video. Ultimately the best "quick answer" is to make any action as beneficial/helpful/insightful as possible to your audience as possible. Some enjoy consuming contenting in fun ways, some prefer more instructive....the trick is to test and eventually take steps that help/satisfy your target audience. Keep questions coming!
Thanks again Mike. I look forward to your next video.
This only works for very small file sizes. My e-book is actually book-length, over 200 pages long. I'm trying to figure out how to deliver to my customers the e-book they're buying from me.
can I create a form which i can attach a paypal file ??
Can you send an ebook if you don’t have a website.
how can i add embed it to my website and redirect
Is there anyway that you can integrate this into wordpress?
How do you insert a link that when the user clicks on it the download starts automatically? i believe this would be much more effective as it cuts 1 click and increases downloads. would appreciate your help
how can you do this using Elementor pop up?
How do I link this welcome email to my popup form?
Thanks Mike for the informative video! Question: How can I integrate this into my website? Thank you!
no prob :) With Mailchimp, they should provide you a link and you can put that link anywhere on your website and drive people to a signup form. If you want to have the actual form on your website, you need to create a form and then have that information sent to MailChimp. If you look for tutorials on "integrating Mailchimp with my website" you should be able to see various approaches
@@WebGuyMike Thank you so much Mike. Much appreciated!!!! All the best!
Hi, in "Edit your content" the "link" button doesn't work. Do you know why?
I tried this but I can not insert the whole book just 1 page. If I try checking more pages I can no longer click on ‘insert’
What do I do if my PDF file says its too large? Its my first time to create a printable and attempt this, but i feel like it shouldn't be any larger than ebook size! I can't adjust the size of the pdf itself and I need to get it as a email opt in!
Hi Lisa, I made a video around this question. Maybe it helps🤷♂️! ua-cam.com/video/P0gxPSLG3Mk/v-deo.html
I wish I could give you 1000 likes!
Hey Mike! I’ve followed your video and when I got to the point of copying my url to test out, the url did not work. My sign up form did not pull up. Do you know what I can do to resolve this issue? TIA
Hi Monique! So I haven't used MailChimp in a while, but they should have a signup form that includes a url. This is automatically created by MailChimp and so if it's not working for you, I wonder if you have to make sure your signup form is active.
Hello Mike
Good morning.
I just follow your steps fainl welcome email is ready. email are subcried in list but not reciving the welsome email,
Sorry for not responding to this earlier but check if the welcome email is landing in the promo or spam folder. Mailchimp is sending out the emails and so it should be working from their side
Hi, I do i need to create a new list every time i offer a new product on mailchimp? I have one list for all my subscribers and it's attached to a sign up form that has a freebie attached to it. Do I need to create a new list to use to offer my ebook with. thank you!
I wouldn't know the exact answer but my gut feeling is that for the free version of MailChimp, you'd probably have to manage it this way. Ultimately you probably want funnel all your subscribers that signup from any form into a main list. With what you're asking, I think that could be done on their paid plans but on the free version, you probably need to create a new list and then do some exporting/importing contacts into one list. Hope this helps!
Hi Mike! A developer initially set up a suscription form list for some of my website's pages. An in order to do so he installed a plugin called Mailchimp for WP. Do you know if I can create lists (now Audiences) from there? I tried that before looking for a solution directly on mailchimp dashboard, but I couldn´t figure it out. Thanks for your help I´d really appreciate it!!
Hi Camila, so I'm not 100% certain but I don't think you can create lists within the plugin itself. The plugin is meant to allow a form on your website to push "sign-ups" into an existing list. But you should be able to create audiences within your dashboard. If you don't have that option it could be that you don't have full access/admin rights on MailChimp. I would just double check with the developer to make sure you can access everything.
Thank you.
Is it possible to make a file totally public in Dropbox, so I can email a link to subscribers?
Oh totally! Some people choose not to do this because they want to make sure everyone that gets access to the file must first sign up to their email, but there’s nothing preventing to take the course of action you’re asking
@@WebGuyMike Thank you. I'm having trouble finding a way to do this. Most of what I've found are ways to share with individuals.
Hey there, I don't have the option to make a list. Do I have to have the paid version of Mailchimp for that?
No, I believe Mailchimp changed some of their labelings. You're not the first to mention this. I haven't taken a look yet, but maybe check for the word Audience and see if you can manage lists from there
Great video, but without an update, I can't use this. There's no "list" option on MC anymore.
I can send you screenshots of updates and how to use them on Mailchimp. Just set it up for a client. Took the same amount of time.
WhoIsDésir awesome! That’s community helping there :)
Thanks Christina, and I hear you as they changed terminology last year. I’m not sure if I’ll get to a new video soon but the process is pretty much the same. They just changed how u organize subscribers and the word list to something else.
Hi Mike, I have several downloadable free digital products and want to be able to send different ones to different people. How do I do this without having to put the downloadable link into the 'thank you' email myself?
Anne Kerr Art Studio hi Anne, u need to segment your audience and each segment receives a different email chain. And so for example, you ask the viewer to choose their interest area and based off of that, each goes through a different in-take process. I having been using MailChimp recently and so not sure if you can do this on free plan. You may need to upgrade
Does it have to be a PDF or regular link?
A link. And the link should be pointed to whatever downloadable file you use (.pdf, .docx, .etc)
You are really sweet ❤❤❤
Is there only one “Final Welcome Email” at once? If I want to offer a different PDF to people who subscribe from different Signup forms, do they all get the same Final Welcome Email?
With the example I was showing, I think that's correct. You might need to look at creating a new list to have a different form and then finding a way to merge those contacts into sort of a master list
@@WebGuyMike I had the same question, I've been trying to find a way for like 2 days but I guess having different lists is the only way to have this triggers.
@@gamasierra Hi! As far as I'm aware, you would have to to create separate lists with MailChimp. There could be options out there but I don't know of any. Another route could be to use one list and just have various download options within the email. "download doc A if you're needing..." "download doc B if you're needing..." Good luck and let me know if you found a solution for what you're looking for. Thanks!
@@WebGuyMike ok Mike, I found a way to do this. I made a landing page that sends my new subscribers to an unlisted page on my website with the download. So that way people can download the freebie directly from there and still register to my list.
@@gamasierra great idea! But directing people to a landing page, you can fill it up with all sorts of goodies. Great work and thx for sharing
Sötnos 💖
is this eric koston?
lol 😂
It says that my file is too big to upload. Am I doing something wrong? It is only 6 pages.
Hi Tina, that sounds really big for a pdf. In general, using high-quality photos will make pdf files larger. But what you could try is to compress your pdf by using something like smallpdf.com/compress-pdf. Hope this helps!
I had a 5 mb file I used the pdf compresser and it made it 2.5 mb. I try to us the link icon and it only pastes and ugly long URL into my email. I can't get it to highlight and link to text (with the underline). Any idea why? thanks!
@@KarenVaisman1 So the long ugly link is probably the direct link to the file. However, if you highlight the link, you should have an option to change what the display text. Hope this helps!
Im not seeing list at all on my mailchimp
Mailchimp recently changed lists to audiences. Thanks for highlighting this!
@@WebGuyMike Glad to, and thank you for all your help. It was appreciated.
@@WebGuyMike I am finding it difficult to do it with the updated, do you have an updated video?
I can't see "list" in my mailchimp :(
hey liza did you find any solution? it seems they replaced the list section with something else but I cant figure out what.
@@sharonrizvi5310 Hey - I ended up watching another youtube and worked it out. The list has now been replaced by "audience" but to send the ebook we don't have to worry about the list (yet), we just do the "automation email" first. This youtube explains a bit clearer even though she still uses the word "list". ua-cam.com/video/tTQJ8Q2nTgs/v-deo.html
cant even find this lists section lol
no worries...it's not you!! They changed their interface and some of the options are in different locations. I'll try to make an updated video
Hi there a great video just wanted to i could upoad my pdf report to my mailchimp, account.
It was really helpful . thanks
Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you
no prob! Hope it helped!
