I have a E91 330xd Manuel 6 speed. People who never rode these cars ,can't tell what they are about. After owning a variety of cars & sportcars +400 HP , i have to say, these M57 engines with a tune etc ,are incredible ! the TORQUE is so friggin addictive. got mine currently stage 2 with 316hp and 750nm. The way it pulls is awsome.
I've been running a 330d touring since August and your right, mine is a 55 plate 06 and only rear wheel drive as a BMW should be, as you say it is amazing plenty of power and for a big engine reasonably good on fuel ,I get 37/39 mpg average on a tankful and as I don't like motorways much I have a great deal of fun driving from Manchester to South Wales and back a few times a year.
330d is brilliant with so many power and great 3.0 engine. I have 5 series but planing to change it with 3 or 4. New 4 coupe will be absolutely beautiful!! Bob good reviews. I like your particularly one on 640d gran coupe. Great review!!
I drove 645000 kms with a 535D and sold it to a garage nearby, it has today around 740000 kms with all original parts ! These engines are without any doubt the best on the market💪
Just buying a year old one for 20% off list price, hopefully in 3 years I'll be able to buy an electric car with 800 mile range, the carrying capacity of my X7and this 330d my partner will drive, I have 3 greyhounds who you can't fit in an 'e' car boot. Diesel automatics are just a dream to drive so much flexibility and relaxed driving, never in a wrong gear and never short of power. My X7 has the same engine as this and even weighing 2.5 tonnes this 6 pot engine still has loads of poke, very easy to be over the speed limit with very light foot on the accelerator.
You make a very good point on difference with EV. Nobody explains that if you buy a Tesla or some other EV, it needs to stay on a drip 24/7! So even if you dont use it for a week, it will use power and if you dont have solar panels, that will cost you money in todays expensive power contracts. I had a look at the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, 650 Ferrari Enzo horsepower but the inside looks like a Toyota Yaris and sounds like one too, with all the beeps and warnings. I decided my new car will also be a BMW 3 series G21, either a 320d or a 330d. Why not a 340d? Because you never use or need the power. A 330d is more than enough. I currently drive a 320d F31 2016 wich is getting to the end with high mileage but its just the best of all worlds: good mpg, good power, visit a petrol station every 2 or 3 weeks and go for 900km if you cruise on the highway. Must have gadgets: take the adaptive dampers and a HUD. The X-Drive is only 30kg extra but mind if you wear rear tyres more, you need to replace them all or risk damaging the X Drive mechanics. If you live in areas without many hills or snow, a Rear Wheel Drive is all you need. Diesel will stay for the next 6-10 years at least. Indeed, untill they build a 900km average range EV station that doesnt need 24/7 drip charge, and doesnt weigh 2200kgs. Keep up the good work Bob!
Love these reviews! So honest and true. I have a 335d touring and it's easily the best car I've owned. There is an M340d touring available also......Nice!

This is a dream car for me! I only need one turbo, so the 330d is perfect. Sadly, BMW did not sell it in the USA. Americans are too ignorant to appreciate great diesel cars like this, and also the car laws are too strict. The closest thing here is the previous gen. 320d wagon, which only had the older N47 I4, with modest power. Not like this I6. I love the design, especially the interior, of the first few years of this generation, but not the face-lifted versions they're currently selling with no buttons and all piano black and digital.

If u say the xdrive ruins the bmwness, then i suggest u take it for a spin. i was hooked to the bmw reardrive too, but the xdrive takes it up a notch, its much faster in the corners, much faster from 0 to 100 and the feel is the same. honestly you dont know what youre talking about. maybe if you want to drift figure 8 on a parking lot, its the right car, the xdrive beats every other aspect of driving....try it.

The price of new cars has gone mad. Since 85% of buyer pay by PCP and only look at the monthly figures.. Car manufacturers have added 20% the the sticker prices in the last five years. Then they take it off again and make buyers think they're getting a good deal.
Great review on a great car. I agree with you Bob about diesels. Car manufactures should be applauded for their efforts in making engines cleaner and more efficient. I'm sticking with diesel and don't care if I don't get a Christmas card from Greta Thunberg.
Bob lovin the tic tick stuff and just came over here as I found out you had the channel , any comments on a BMW 320i tourer 2007 how to keep it going well , cheers
I think this car in that colour in a 320d format is a more sensible car for ireland, specially with road tax and resale values of diesels in 5/6 years time.
Here in sweden I can't understand who would NOT buy xDrive? ;) And something sad about Diesel, is that it's not gonna be allowed to sell any new Diesel or Petrol in sweden by year 2030, I believe it's even banned already to drive a Diesel in Oslo, Norway? On top of that it seems like many countries like France, Germany, Netherlands are also pushing for no fossil fuels or at least make it expensive to drive one after like 2035 in EU. I Love Diesel and not like to have to charge my car, but at least I would have to think twice before I replace my car next time for sure.
This is nothing but a fact for any real gear head, a man who has a good feel for machines of this type. Best sports sedan, rear drive only naturally. And estate, no tnx. Just a sport limousine first class 330D M sport. My next car. But 78000€, yes very expensive way to expensive by any means. This is the reason why I am gonna wait another year and 3,4 months. And then go to Germany and get it used, 2 to 3 year's old , with 30 to 60 tkm. Still a brand new car, especially knowing how meticulous German driver's are . Only then the price will drop by 40 to 50%, and I'll buy one for 30 t €. And that's how you buy this car. The best car you can buy today. ☻
Holy crap - 78K - I'm a BMW owner and that's eye watering. Is VRT at 30% for that size engine? I do like the new 3 series but would wait a year or two for the depreciation to take a chunk off.
Eco rules are such a scam. At the end of this year, you won’t be able to drive in Paris with a diesel, even though it releases less co2 into the air as an equivalent petrol.
What was the instant km/l at say 120km/h. Traditionally the 330 could tow a tank and had the pulling power of a tractor. My ideal cross country cruiser
I currently own a 2008 330d touring, I’m ready to buy new 3 series touring G20. Will have to be the 2 litre m sport, which is best to go for petrol or diesel?
Bob, how does this generation 330d compare vs the last? I’m looking into buying a low mileage 330 touring F series. But maybe I should fork out and get the G series? I prefer the looks of the F series
@Gerry Freeman - As far as I know VRT is illegal tax from EU point of view and Ireland has to pay penalty to EU every Year. I think in 2017 EU’s court ruled against Irish VRT
I am personally looking for a 330i to replace my 320i in 2-3-4 years (no d, no estate, no xDrive and no hybrid) - if I can find one that hasn't been "driven like an audi" 😁 that is .. My main concern is the forced automatic transmission.. I would really rather have the manual as I plan to keep the car for many years .. (and simply prefer manual .. )
Great and entertaining review as ever. No bull5h1t. Calls it as it is. Price a bit daft for the poor man's BMW even if its a nice machine functionally. There's a lot more out there in the market for that price that delivers more car and more space.
Ross Clarke you cant get it in RWD though....my mapped 330d is just as powerful and goes sideways very well indeed 👌🏻....you can’t do that in an x drive👎🏻
William Oakes Maybe, but my mapped 335d does 0-60 in 4s and goes very sideways when I want it to. Xdrive gives 100% confidence on wet greasy roads which allows you to push in any conditions.
No it ain't. The BMW's of today are unreliable and won't last. The looks of the cars are great but timing chain is the wrong way round and with the engine running at such a hot temperature and direct injection all other parts fail prematurely.
It does seem a bit like fantasy figs. I had a 2018 530d x drive saloon and am now in a 2020 320d xdrive m sport touring. The 530d x drive was easier on juice than the 320d x drive touring. That said the 3 series is definitely a nicer drive, particularly with the adaptive suspension. Couldn’t stick the ride in the 530 on 20 inch rims with the Irish roads
Model 3 and 3 Series are in two different categories in my mind, 3 series is much bigger and Model 3 doesn't come in estate form. I'd say they would be close on price if there was a similar model in Tesla.
@Sparky RUDE..... and a bit true. House prices are so much cheaper north. as is the cost of living. Its SHOCKING how expensive the likes of Dublin is. I'm border hopper I'll be down stealing your jobs next week. Not every nordy is "piss poor" some have there own piss buckets.
@@BobFlavinVideo I see the 3 series(non wagon) and the Audi A4 and Model 3 all in the same segment. Big difference in running cost. Making cost of ownership so much cheaper. I love the design, especially the interior, of the first few years of this generation, but not the face-lifted versions they're currently selling with no buttons and all piano black and digital.
Funny and educational.....love your reviews Bob
........another car I’d love to own (while it had or could have a warranty on it) alas I couldn’t sleep at night owing that much cash and I couldn’t afford to buy one outright so it remains a dream.
just got the 335d xdrive and its fucking insane.
Absolutely love your videos Bob. You have such a great way of explaining things it makes your videos a pleasure to watch. You remind me of an old school teacher I had who was cool and had this amazing gift of making you want to listen and learn but you'd act the eejit in the next class LOL
Thanks very much ScuuBdoo you are very kind! 👊
I dont mean to be off topic but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot the password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Harper Genesis instablaster ;)
@Edwin Immanuel I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Edwin Immanuel It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account!
I guess sometimes UA-cam recommends good stuff... Honest video 👍🏻
The price of new cars has gone mad. Since 85% of buyer pay by PCP and only look at the monthly figures.. Car manufacturers have added 20% the the sticker prices in the last five years. Then they take it off again and make buyers think they're getting a good deal.
Damn are you trying to say Car Sales Men are sneaky??? And there I was thinking they were all my besties! I feel used now...
@@joelyons886 They are your besties until you pay a deposit Joe.
@@delboy2596 hahahaha so them nice biscuits weren't free after all! I'm gonna have to fill the boot next time im there!
Well compare to how well a car held up 20y ago.
Great review of a nice car by a cool guy.
Enjoyed that thanks...
Everything you said is exactly how I think, Tesla fans you just enjoy your every day charge.
this weekend i ordered a brand new 2024 330d :-) #dieselpower
I’ll be buying one of these when they’re 25k in the uk
Me too!
19% its 133 grams of co2 per km.
Eco rules are such a scam. At the end of this year, you won’t be able to drive in Paris with a diesel, even though it releases less co2 into the air as an equivalent petrol.
Great review! I’m just waiting for my 330e touring to be delivered, same colour combo! Have you tested the hybrid?
2nd hand 640d gran coupe or 330d?
What was the instant km/l at say 120km/h. Traditionally the 330 could tow a tank and had the pulling power of a tractor. My ideal cross country cruiser
I currently own a 2008 330d touring, I’m ready to buy new 3 series touring G20. Will have to be the 2 litre m sport, which is best to go for petrol or diesel?
How much is a nearly new E350d Mercedes estate in Ireland? About £30,000 in the UK.
Bob, how does this generation 330d compare vs the last? I’m looking into buying a low mileage 330 touring F series. But maybe I should fork out and get the G series? I prefer the looks of the F series
You should get a G20 or G21, these are much better-looking cars and have much better features!
Just today did a long m’way haul in my 530d and averaged 75mph and 50mpg. If I slowed to 60 average I would get 60mpg. Who would have an EV?
nice review! what name has this exterior color?
Dravit grey
78 grand for a 3 series????? completely ridiculous. waste of money and resources
My 330d m sport cost £34000 brand new in 2014
it’s not… worth the price…
Does it have low blinker fluid alert on HUD? Great review! If cash was no prob, Alpina D5 Touring?
When're you reviewing the M340i Touring? Looking to replace my Golf 7R Wagon with one and after an overnight drive I'm in love!
Yes.
Tree tirty!! Car or plant???
In the UK have priced it the same as the m340 touring .....descisions.....
Grip bob grip, think back to the 90s,most performance cars were 4 wheel drive.
Hi Bob. Nice review! Is that color dravit grey? Cheers ✌🏻
It is dravit grey! In my opinion, it is a boring color, looks only good in bright sunlight!
Very good car !!!
Get this car from UK - much cheaper. Here dealers are rip off’s
You obviously don't understand VRT
@Gerry Freeman - As far as I know VRT is illegal tax from EU point of view and Ireland has to pay penalty to EU every Year. I think in 2017 EU’s court ruled against Irish VRT
what is this specific color called?
Dravit Grey
And as you said ? Why would you buy a 5 series. Well at 78k for three series a 5 is more much more.
Some yoke that, quite possibly all youd ever need, rwd would be better
335d?
And yet you can buy 2wd X3 and X5
I hate that grille...I don't like the shape that much either!
I disagree... 335d xdrive is all the car you’ll ever need.
@@rossclarke10169
How do you find the suspension ?
MrAndy1704 I’ve Adaptive MSport on ACS springs, So it’s really nice and tight. 👌
My idol
I bought mine because of x drive!
Nope, you are wrong! XDrive is doing a great job on all surfaces.
No it ain't. The BMW's of today are unreliable and won't last. The looks of the cars are great but timing chain is the wrong way round and with the engine running at such a hot temperature and direct injection all other parts fail prematurely.
Ohhhh its the guy off tictok
On TikTok I’m the guy off UA-cam 😊
Kilometers per Liter Liters per 100 km MPG - British MPG - United States
5.5 Liters per 100 km =
51.36 British MPG
Absolutely impossible
It does seem a bit like fantasy figs. I had a 2018 530d x drive saloon and am now in a 2020 320d xdrive m sport touring. The 530d x drive was easier on juice than the 320d x drive touring. That said the 3 series is definitely a nicer drive, particularly with the adaptive suspension. Couldn’t stick the ride in the 530 on 20 inch rims with the Irish roads
Nicer drive excluding engine...miss the big 6
how much!!!!!!
I'll have Tesla Model 3 performance please.
And if your in the North, Company car TAX will be 0 BIK
Model 3 and 3 Series are in two different categories in my mind, 3 series is much bigger and Model 3 doesn't come in estate form. I'd say they would be close on price if there was a similar model in Tesla.
BMW 330d M Sport Plus Edition Saloon. From £45,765
BMW M340d xDrive Touring. From £51,005
Residual value in 3 years time £16.750. Maybe?
@Sparky
RUDE..... and a bit true.
Once again if your in the North as company car it's no brianer. 0 BIK More money in the pocket of Company car drivers and Limited company drivers.
@@AdrianMcDaid its 0% BIK on any BEV under 50K (goverment add the 5K VRT incentive back on for BIK, crazy) down here
Me euro millions car would be the big brother of this the BMW 535D Individual just to be more stand out and be worse then the M Sport drivers exclusiveness, and have every option box ticked. 😂
Well that's an easy choice.. Now I just need 78 grand and Bob's your uncle!
Not you, Bob... well, unless you can share 78grand, then you can be my uncle😊
xdrive for snow and winter, rwd BMW’s are horrible in snow and ice. I know from experience
Id imagine that price isnt far off the new audi rs4 estate 😬😬
Lovely capable car but horrific to maintain when they've got a few miles under their wheels and a tad pricey to buy new.
Keyboard Dancers horrific to maintain....I’m on my 4th 330d now and aside from one car that needed a timing chain replacement (glitch in the service record most likely caused that) they’ve been utterly faultless.
What makes you think they’re horrific to maintain?
Thanks to VW diesel scandal, 330d coming to the US is impossible no matter how many Hail Mary’s you pray.
Won't Trump help you with the diesel problem?
Bob Flavin If it will line his and his family’s wallet, Mr. Tandemic just might do something.
Thanks for lying cheating VAG, the transition to electric has been accelerated by 10-15 years, helped in no small measure by Tesla proving the technology actually works for consumers.
U. S VW scandal is a Made Up one
MONSTER Truck homeland with 8.0L
Diesels is worried about 1.6 Diesels emissions 😳😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
.
Image the Abuse Mothers driving 1.2 Diesels 3 cylinders getting almost 70mpg and getting some abuse 🤬😡😠 from the someone driving a pick up truck for Ford F150 or something
What have BMW done to the grill!? It looks cheap, plastic, disproportionate, stuck on and out of place.
Diesel 6L POWER !
