I totally agree with your review, I've owned bmw diesels for the last 15 years and by far the 330d has been an exceptional motor. Sadly I'm changing to a petrol 330i which I tested recently. Long live the king
@@fer1306 it's only because diesels are becoming anti social that I'm changing, I love the 330d but it's time to change to the 330i... it's a beast of a car
I drive a diesel for the last 15 years now, and as long as I can I will be driving a Turbo diesel. My ultimate dream car si exactly this BMW 330D M sport! In 2021 I will be buying one I truly hope! That is my plan. This is almost as fast as the M3 will be, at least when torque responds to a step on the gas pedal. What's the number 600 NM of torque ?? But it's far, far better economy, and looks just as good... Perhaps if you know how and which M performance parts to add, you can make it look even better. Tesla NO TNX, you can keep that shit can!
I’ve got a 2015 64 reg 330d stage 1 tuned to 310 bhp 580 nm torque m performance kit real world mpg 40 mpg all day long but no more than that seriously quick car but if your hoping for better mpg ? It won’t happen that’s a fact but I love the car get one mine is rear wheel drive only not xdrive more fun .
Totally with you man, Xdrive NO thanks. BMW 3 series, especially 330D must be rear wheel drive only. This is what the 330D M sport is made for, and now it's better than ever in this new G20 iteration. Cheers drivers and Riders. ☻😁☻
I had the F31 330d, beast! To feel the same pull you need at minimum 335/340i ! Driving safe i was about 16 km/L. Pedal to the metal it was impossibile to Go under 10 km/L
Is it still a viable option? Yes! I had the previous 330d and got over 40mpg, now i have an Audi S5, and get 14mpg. i don't know the science, but i don't think i am currently saving the planet. I will be back to a diesel for my next car, and St. Greta can swivel.
For me they still make fantastic sense. Even in 2021. For sure, you won't be able to buy them new anymore, and I'm sure Boris will sore the road tax up, but you'll still be able to enjoy them used. A million Police forces nationwide can't be wrong!😉
Have you driven 330i? m340? is this diesel really that punchy? No lag once you put your leg right? The only thing i hate about D is it got no proper sound. A new 330i 4 cylinder now sounds fantastic and its fast too.
I have driven the 330i and as great a car it is I would certainly go for the 330d. There is just something about a 6 cylinder that pulls on the heart strings. Really want to get behind the wheel of an M340i in the new year, I have only heard good things about it.
Sorry but completely disagree . Own the 2016 lci model with rwd only get around 45-50mpg at very best on A roads and motorways only. Also my foot is not heavy. Still amazing consumption for 6 cyl.
@@thepharcyde8285 What speed would you be doing on a motorway? All I know is what I get in mine, which I've verified by checking mileage against fuel purchased.
@@dopiaza2006 hi. Depends on the traffic so anything between 60 and 75. Just to be clear this is an average consumption and I never use ''eco pro'' but comfort. Eco just kills the acceleration. I did the same as you - checked mileage/fuel as I got curious . It is 47mpg (6l per 100 km).
Or if you like the driving feel, the instant huge torque from very low rpms makes a car very driveable in daily basis. Yes i know on paper modern petrol cars can achieve similar, but in real life only similar not the same.
@Ron P Performance similar on paper with figures not in real life and driving feel. You should try driving 330D, The turbo diesel straight six torque is KING, nothing comes close!
@Ron P i've an f30 330d im only averaging 30mpg, granted im not doing big journeys anymore due to change of job. Wondering if i should go for a 330i next? Have to say i loveee the torque in the D tho it's mental lol

Moved from a 435d xdrive to the new M340i. Both excellent cars, but the petrol b58 is much better, albeit nowhere near the fuel economy

Yes I agree I had a F31 before my G21 and the MPG was better on the F31 by 10 MPG I put it down to the Ad Blue Crap
Truth is you only buy a diesel if you do long journeys on a regular basis, but you can get good fuel economy on the new petrol engines today.
