I cannot get enough of the talent here! First, one of my favorite drummers... second, the lyrics that are so personal, come with heavy messages and have been very emotional. I pray you find Jesus in your heart though (if you haven't) and go on an upward, that is for sure! Some songs from prior are also so true to today, it is incredible. Keep up the brilliant work!

Initially, years ago, I admittedly wasn’t totally digging this less technical and more personal lyrics driven era that Whitechapel were heading into. But as I’ve gotten older, experienced more hardships and life struggles, and allowed my taste in music to mature, Ive realized that Phil and the gang are just more interested in painting a dark, Malevolent personal expository, and a relatable yet menacing landscape with each new album. Rather than a collection of loosely similarly titled songs with seemingly random themes of evil and violence.
And I Can now understand and appreciate such writing.

I loved The Valley so much that I was worried about them being able to achieve the same emotional level, but this is simply magnificent. The instrumental aspect itself is phenomenal, but the pure emotion and pain I sense in these words is astounding. This song comes from a truly shattered heart.

Yes! I felt the same way, The Valley is true art and this is an amazing direction for them to go in. It also must be extremely cathartic for Phil and it's a healthy outlet as opposed to burying the pain.
I still love the three albums prior to The Valley, and their stuff before their self titled is fine but mostly just generic edgy deathcore, but this new material transcends anything a band like Whitechapel ever seemingly should've been capable of.

My mother died in 2013. My father died from cancer when I was 8 years old.

i haven't lost my family. I have lost friends in Iraq, but I have dealt with drug addiction. the fact that phil remained sober during his losses is an inspiration
What you see in the video is Phil's evil self; the Kin (?), showcased in Lost Boy.
That evil Phil has the same love for his parents and hatred for the stepfather, so he kills his stepdad and sacrifices him to an ancient god; the eye you see on The Valley album art, in order to resurrect his mother and father, pull Phil into his own reality and fuse with him eventually, but the problem is that those parents are just shells of themselves, like lifeless moving creatures who can't talk and have no consciousness.
I think this can also be a connected to the song Brimstone, where Phil kills his stepdad brutally in his dream.
Phil is an incredible songwriter. I can't wait to hear this! The grooves are freaking heavy and the video looks sick!!!

This song hit me so hard, my mother passed away in January of 2016 and my dad has cancer. I read the lyrics and I balled my eyes out like it was a rainy day in Niagara falls.

I've watched this video twice. And I've cried both times. Wasn't expecting it... I haven't cried in about 10 years, since I lost the most important people in my life. There is shattering power and soul in this album. No music has ever affected me this way before. Every single track on the album gives me full body chills.
The lyrics, the meaning, the melody choices, the groove, heavyness and tast of the song, not even mentionning that breakdown...everything is done so well can't express my love for this song

Just like every Whitechapel song and record, I was nowhere even in the realm of being ready for this.
God, Phil is so majestic. Such a good song. No other band in the entire world can stop a panic attack dead in its tracks for me, except Whitechapel.
Im seriously almost teary eyed at the fact metal and fucking banging bands like Whitechapel are still around and pushing the genres forwards. Thank you bros for keeping the heavy where it needs to be which is always with us through out time.
Over 10+ years later and Bozeman is STILL my all time favourite vocalist. I highly doubt that will change any time soon.

My dad was hit and killed by a car about 30 feet from our house. This was back in 2016. I got no justice, no answers, nothing. And even though he wasn't the greatest dad and even though it was so long ago. I find peace in this song for some odd reason.

Dude, This video combined with the lyrics perfectly portray the creepiness, darkness and the despair one can feel while dealing with the death of a close family member or a friend. We hold onto our memories so much we can’t accept they are gone for good
After watching such an incredibly emotional musical masterpiece, I’m starting to realize how fortunate I am in life, to be honest. Sometimes it feels like it’s an everyday struggle and any problem seems so disappointing, even makes you depressed rarely. But then you see and hear this. It changes my mind, at least for a short time, but still! You are an awesome band.

Shit, it really sucks that most things that feel authentic in art come from suffering and pain that artist has to endure. I can't recall listening to anything that was this heavy and yet at the same time had such beautiful and devastating lyrics. If there's one thing that I think is underappreciated about the "new Whitechapel" era, it's the subtle nods to appalachian/folk/country music that is actually present in some of the clean guitar intros that are prevalent on the last two albums. Almost like you're arriving in a small western town from aboard a frontier train. It reminds me of the ornamental tremolo guitars in the ambient soundtrack for Red Dead Redemption. It plays such a small little role in the textures of the songs, but it's something I picked up on and really, really enjoy. :)

I liked Kin when it first came out . Only now as a parent in 2024 do i really appreciate and see this album as the MASTERPIECE it is .

I was expecting a song that was similar to The Somatic Defilement but honestly I love this song even more because of the story telling elements. I appreciate the fact that Whitechapel can be both extremely heavy and extremely emotional. Kind of similar to Slipknot in a way.

This video hits very close to home with me, personally. I was raised by an alcoholic and abused as a kid growing up. Today, they are both deceased and cremated in their Urns'. I have had many dark thoughts and even went as far as making a few "attempts" of my own. Despite the Hell I endured growing up, I miss them both dearly. Today, I teach young kids' how to play guitar. I play guitar in an aspiring band "Chaotic Demise". Based on our past lives', abuse, current events and the direction we are all headed in. For all of you out there that still have either or both parents, cherish it now. They can leave at any given moment. Even your grands. I have more of my fair share of emotional scars.
Whitechapel will never not be my favorite band and this right here is why. damn near 15 years now and running on my end

This is so well done, the sound, the emotions from Phil, the actors and everything else. What a pain lives in Phil's heart, only he knows. Suicide and mental health are key. "You're an adult" yes, but I've still lots of hurt inside that never heals (Thinking as Phil).

Whitechapel has been my favorite metal band since 2007 and Kin is my favorite of all their albums. This album is an incredible piece of artistic expression.
I lost my mom and dad 15 years apart and I'm only 36. The line of "Mother, Father, come back to me" hits me very fucking hard. But not as hard as this song.
If you can’t get down to Whitechapel I don’t need to know you. This is easily one of the best metal bands of all time.

Im inside the pit, i recognize myself, to all death my family. Eternal conflict to keep me truly alive. The boulder is pretty heavy, the task is pretty tedious and must be done each day to relieve that tremendous weight of my chest, to feel a slight light on my heart.

What I've never understood is why big-ticket Horror films don't use this type of music with their imagery. I understand the music isn't for everyone, but it's literally the soundtrack to horrific cinema IMO. Whitechapel have been kings of this style of writing for over a decade. The Somatic Defilement completely changed my musical tastes and opened so many doors.

Wow. This is truly a deep and disturbing portrayal and it's a credit to Phil's ability in front of the camera. The looks he gives the mother feel genuine and the expressions on his face with those possessed eyes are incredible. Compare this with his awkward bouncing up and down in The Elitist Ones and you wouldn't even think it was the same person.
