um can we talk about eleanor’s character development here? after an entire year without the man she loved, she could have made this moment about their reunion. but she remembered what was truly important and was selfless. this bench has come a long forking way.
this is exactly what I think as well. while others are trying to make it cute with assumptions that Eleanor read the note off of Chidi's glasses or that Chidi asked for the note so that Eleanor can do that, I really think that Eleanor is not insecure like that and at this point she knows what is more important. she'll have an eternity with Chidi anyway after they save everything.
@@SleepIntoTheDiamondLife just btw the reading from glasses thing ≠ Chidi thinking Eleanor is insecure! It's him trusting her with his brain and heart fully. Also I'm guessing we'll hear more about it next episodes :) Also the reason people are saying that is because earlier in the episode when they play charades, it's established that Eleanor was clearly cheating by reading the charades cards in chidi's glasses haha. And having listened to the podcast, they don't do ANYTHING by accident in this show. Anything.
Shakiba Inside A Screen idk, i’m not saying you’re wrong (because there’s a good chance that you’re correct), but just from the expression on her face i think we can see that she didn’t read the note; their shared look was just one of love and reassurance. and “cheating” was something the old eleanor would do, i’d like to think she knows better by now.
I love how you can tell that Janet gets more and more human the more she gets rebooted and the more time she spends around them and I just love that little detail of her tearing up because normally she would just take it and beep off but no you can tell that she’s actually growing and becoming a character with her own thoughts and feelings
One Step inc. I know!!! I still remember at the end of Season 1 Eleanor gave her that note and she was just like “Okay! :D” and beeped away but now she’s _crying_ and _hugging_ Chidi and I’m 😭😫
It was actually d’arcy already tearing up from William jackson harper and ted danson’s performance that. They thought it was a nice touch to janet so they kept it :)
But also, over the course of the show we watch both Janet and.... her son/boyfriend become richer and more competent with each reboot, but in this episode we get to see Chidi go through the same thing (800+ reboots worth) in the snap of Michael's fingers.
Chidi and Janet have been my favorites for a while. Making the scene where Chidi is trapped in a Janet body one of my favorite scenes in the whole show.
I love Chidi's calm reaction to being told he has one hour to save all of humanity, a testament to how much he's changed. Instead of an anxiety attack, he's ready to roll up his sleeves, get to work, and be the hero the world needs.
A problem he always had was that he had to think everything through and question all outcomes of his choices. After we experiencing 300 years of existing in the bad place and earth. He finally has enough experience to know the outcome of choices and doesn't need to ask the questions he already has. His problem was never being able to make a choice and he made 300 years worth of choices.
Not to mention how bewildered she was by Chidi's response to her request. She was probably expecting him to get a stomach ache, or start spouting out which philosophers they could look at. She was not expecting him to say, "hey don't worry about it--just give me a second and we'll start."
Two of my three all time favourite tv couples (the other is tara and willow on buffy but they had a sad ending so I hope the other two live happily ever after).
I love how this parallels Eleanor writing herself a note after they figured out Michael’s plan the first time. She told herself to find Chidi and here Chidi tells himself that Eleanor is the answer. How wonderful.
(earlier that episode) *"Oh, I'm pretty sure she was reading the cards off the reflection in my glasses."* The way he reads it even if he knows what's on it-how she glances down and how she smiles at him, I'd say it's more than a safe bet to say that she read his note off the reflection of his glasses (and that he knew she would)...💕
Also watch her eyes. She initially isn’t looking him in the eyes, it looks like she’s more focused, then she is looking him in the eyes, then she glances at the note. Kristen Bell is an incredible actress.

This is the moment that make me cry like a baby. I really felt identified with Chidi like a person who struggles on taking decisions. I think the moment when he opens the paper and reveals the resolution of his journey with a simple "There is no answer" means that there is no a right answer for every decision we have to make and we don't have to feel sad or guilty if things doesn't end good. We are humans, we don't know everything and we shouldn't punish ourselves for every little thing.

This whole segment of Chidi getting his memories back is everything! So well done. So well acted. So well directed and scripted. I will definitely miss this show. I can only pray to be on a show so funny, heartwarming, smart and ridiculous as this one!
I loved the heartfelt emotion on Janet's face the instant she appeared in front of Chidi. She was on the verge of tears. And when she kissed him on the cheek, it endeared me to her even more. But the best was when Chidi later opened the top fold of his note... My heart sank. Then, he opened the bottom fold, and I literally jumped out of my chair and cheered. Ridiculous. I've never been so emotionally attracted to a TV sitcom. LOL
I’ll never not miss this show, and I will forever wish I could experience it for the first time once again. I’m glad I live in an age where I can rewatch it any time I like, though.
Why does this make me cry. Everything that Chidi did, regardless of just his actual life, or his 800 lives, all led to this. That beauty of him in all his lives trying to do the right thing philosophically, now, he has one chance to write the afterlife

Daily Dose of E85 yeah lol, at least the last ones are coming in Netflix now but it’s sad because it ending 😭
I CRY EVERY TIME
This whole segment of Chidi getting his memories back is everything! So well done. So well acted. So well directed and scripted. I will definitely miss this show. I can only pray to be on a show so funny, heartwarming, smart and ridiculous as this one!
It's amazing how much Chidi has developed as a character over the last 300 years.
I got CHILLS and cried at the same time when he opened the note. Music helped.
LOL
She could see what was written by looking at the reflection of his glasses
i absolutely cried like a baby when this happened
I never cry during shows but this scene just hit in a way I've never felt before
I’ll never not miss this show, and I will forever wish I could experience it for the first time once again. I’m glad I live in an age where I can rewatch it any time I like, though.
This may be the most beautiful moment ever put on film.
Was anyone else BLOWN AWAY by the BEAUTIFUL PIANO MUSIC
Holy Shirt, This Broke me! The Normal Girl from Arizona is the key to save Humanity!
This moment will make me tear up every time I see or remember it. It’s so well written and performed. My favorite moment of the whole series so far!
Even Janet started to get teary eyed...I cant lie, I was on my way their too
aka the most wholesome moment in television history
I didnt cry while watching the show because I was stressed it was going on hiatus, but watching the clip has made me shed a tear
This reminds me of the last scene of season 1.
'FIND CHIDI'
Why does this make me cry. Everything that Chidi did, regardless of just his actual life, or his 800 lives, all led to this. That beauty of him in all his lives trying to do the right thing philosophically, now, he has one chance to write the afterlife
This is actually one of if not the best show ever. Some of friends say its getting boring but i think its still as amazing as its always been. Cant wait for this friday!
It only takes to read de comments of this video to realize that all characters were developed along the show and that in the final of this chapter that is shown, as well as the message of the show "there is no 'answer'" is finally given. The show hss the perfect close with this chapter, and should've end here
I straight up cried when I watched this.
I’m sorry, but why is one of the best series I’ve ever watched missing an episode at the end or the season finale being 1hr, we need more! Please? Please?! PLEASE!!!!! I’ve watched the good place 12 times now and my body can’t handle this ending, the best ending ever yet I still want more!
This wasn't the season ending. It's only about 2/3 through, and starts up again on 9 January.
blindleader42 WHATT?? i thought this season is done....
I consider myself to be someone who has confidence in themselves, and sometimes I waver, but it's this moment where Chidi just inspires me.
so i just saw this scene and had to pause it to cry for like ten minutes after he opened the note. such an amazing love story.
I started this show like a day and a half ago and am now caught up. By far the best show I’ve watched
The phrase is beautiful in its simplicity and is simply beautiful.
What a cool show! It snuck in some high-brow esoteric philosophy tucked inside some low-brow humor with some remarkably insightful character interplay.
How is a comedy meant to make me cry like this. Twice as well, both involving Eleanor and Chidi.
I can’t watch this and not start sobbing uncontrollably 😭 this show is so good
This is my favorite moment. I started crying then until the show ended 😭
Janet's teary eyes were because D'arcy Carden couldn't keep it together while they were filming. ❤
Yeah, or she's a really good actor
Sweetest scene ever.
Everyone could kinda guess what was on the paper but still i think we all needed to see it.
I guessed the first part, but that second part hit me hard!!
*THIS IS SO CUTE*
That piano at the end deserves an Emmy.
Also it's interesting because back at Mindy's Chidi actually had identified the problem with the point system, unbeknownst to him at the time.
I rewatched this scene so many times. As someone who is indecisive this resonanted with me alot.
Jason's little 'Yes.' 😊
Call me crazy but I even like the way the paper was folded. I love everything about this show.
This scene gave me real butterflies I genuinely felt fireworks and so much love in this scene😭
this is why i stan chidi
Caring Janet always makes me cry. This show is so damn good.
