  • Here is covert footage of a private tour of Althorp House by Earl Spencer on 20th December 2015. Tickets for this tour were very limited and sold to raise money for local charity Thomas' Fund. The tour was highly worthwhile and Earl Spencer was both charming and approachable. I attended this tour with my girlfriend at the time and sister.
Filmed on my iPhone 6 on 20th December 2015.

I don't think many people realise the extraordinary background Princess Diana had. Some would say she actually had more blue blood than Charles

So, I've been working on my ancestry and found out yesterday that I am his 12th cousin once removed. So incredibly amazing! Now I'm digging into the family to get to know them better. I know its a long shot, and I'll never get to meet them, but still a pretty neat little tidbit to know.

It's hard to believe that growing up in a house like this with such opulent beauty and history that, Princess Diana would have still been considered 'a commoner'. For that matter it also is inconceivable that (in her early years w/ 'Chuck') that she wouldn't have known how to dress better. One cannot dismiss the sheer opulence of the house and ever have assumed anyone who passed through such hallowed halls would have behaved in any manner other than, stellar.
Lastly, it is also equally hard to believe that Princess Diana would have needed anyone to show her how to be 'royal'.
Wonderful video nonetheless. Thank You for sharing.

No it was actually a mistake to say that lady Di was a "commoner" the media is to blame because she is in fact an aristocrat.

Since there was no Mummy in the Althorp House for a while, it might be that Diana might have been left pretty much by herself to learn proper ladylike ways of making one presentable with taste and flair in accordance with her rank. Except for ballet dancing and exercises, Diana was pretty much an "outdoors" girl with boots and pants, more at ease with animals, if I remember well from that early period. However she eventually learned quite fast pretty soon.

@@clairedionne559 i pretty much agree. I have a book entitled "Diana" which contained some pictures of her in her childhood years and indeed it showed her always in pants and boots.

@@juliettab2218 lady diana Spencer was a commoner so is princess Anne.
Commoner in uk is anyone who doesn't have a peerage ( a seat in the house of lords as duke , marquess, earl , viscount, baron ) . So regardless of how high a rank someone has they remain a commoner until they become a peer .
What you guys want to say is diana came from aristocracy or she came from a noble family , so even the above earl Spencer's children are commoners by uk definition.
The press was not lying they knew that the public will get the impression that she's from a humble background adding to the fairy tale narrative.
Coming from money or living in such a house doesn't prepare someone for royal life , around the clock schedules constant press intrusion etc .
Life in these house for ppl who live in it is very much undisciplined.
Plus diana had abandonment issues all the anger she had towards her family was aimed at the royal family.
She was very needy and both her parents married after their divorce, she was no angel either she once pushed her step mother down the stairs.
She's lucky that step mother didn't press charges.

@@juliettab2218 Diana had better blood lines than Prince Charles and today’s ruling family. Didn’t the Spencers trace their heritage back to William the Conqueror.

Dalton - if you read my description you would have noted the word “covert”. Filming was not allowed - this was sneaked in. Hence why you’re seeing a lot of handbags but you’re able to hear the whole thing. This video has amassed 19,000 views so I must have done something right. Word of advice - read before commenting.

Ghastly filming. Should have handed the phone off to your sister, or stepped to the side to take a sweep of the room and what he spoke off. Otherwise, if you only wanted to listen to the Earl you should have just left the camera on him.

If you read my description you’d have seen in the first 4 words “COVERT FOOTAGE”. It was done in secret because it wasn’t allowed, hence why it’s not up to your standards. Thanks for your unnecessary comment, and I invite you to do better in the presence of Earl Spencer.
