- Dark Renaissance is a partly souls-like, mostly LoK-like fan game I've been working on. It's a work in progress and subject to changes and improvements, but my goal is to refine it in a series of devlogs followed by a playable demo. I'll be posting a video with combat, locations and puzzles soon! The Pillars are sort of a safe hub, which made it easier to record, along with the introduction and swamp. I'm fixing the issue with frame-rate drops while screen recording in the Forest, Uschtenheim and other locations.

Major characters, HUD, items, and world monuments are crafted specifically for this, but some stock models such as rocks, trees, barrels, etc are used under specific permission license and such creators names are being placed in the fan game credits as well as on the website.
This project also honors artists in that it does not feature any A.I. generated artwork.
This fan game is intended for non-commercial purposes. The Legacy of Kain series remains the property of its respective owners.

This is excellent work. The running action and finished look of Vampire Raziel is stunning. Love this.
Embracer Group and Crystal Dynamics needs to see the level of passion and creativity that fans have for this underrated series. Hopefully, we'll also see new LOK animated TV Series or movies one day in addition to a reboot of the original games ❤🔥
It reminds me of a swan song game from the ps2 generation. End of console life and all the stops were pulled to make epic use of the hardware. So i dig these graphics a ton. Feels like the Blood Omen 2 engine.
@@SSGoatanksyou mean the guy that holds the copyrights needs to sell them so a new studio can revamp (lol) the series? Pretty sure CD has since dissolved....but i could be mistaken.
@@SSGoatanksi stand corrected...says they still employ almost 300 devs/workers at cd too...tf have they been doing, sitting on one of the best ips ever in gaming.
Making something before Soul Reaver involving Raziel seems like a GREAT idea. Graphics look great, everything looks amazing, but don't mind graphics too much. Remember we are here for the story. If you think about it, you could make many games on this period. Anyway, have fun making this man, and thanks! ;)

This is freakin amazing!!!! Looks awesone. The concept of a prequel game with Raziel in its earlier days is a fantastic idea. Can't wait to see more!
Nice interpretation of Raziel. He's hard to get "right" as a vampire in both art and animation, I feel this is one of the more accurate versions for sure. Really would like to this play this or help out with the project in some way. Great work.
I really hope this becomes a reality and a title on console. It looks amazing and is the game I always wanted to see made.

I am so happy, satisfied and quite impressed with all the quality work of the team surrounding Jake in this prequel. Please complete the game. Do not wait so long that life responsibilities call on team members, and they quit on the project. From what I saw, the game is progressing well! Two thumbs up people!

There was a guy named Jake pawloski "I believe it's spelled that way" who started this same project 10+ years ago and I use to be in contact with him with so many ideas and he named his game prodigal sons and never released it, I was so stoked for it too
Love the use of the Interview with the Vampire Soundtrack.
Using the soundtrack of the interview with the vampire was a good touch
amazing how the fans know more how to do with a franchise, that the real owners,just love, all the luck with the project

It's surprising how well the voice work captures the spirit of the original, and the animations are quite impressive!

First time I saw LOK was at Electronics Boutique where they had it on display for playing the game. I fell in love with the script and the fact it was a nice spin on vampirism. I knew I had to purchase the game. The later titles was not as good when it came to gameplay with the exception of the last one and they started to perfect the 2nd installment titles of each of the Kain and Raziel. The story is what grabbed me despite the gameplay of fighting lacked in strength. But the idea behind the spells and direction was good as well. I guess if havi g more time to work on the titles and budget was better who knows. I would definitely invest in creating a strong game if another comes to pass. A movie would be even great.

@@spiralsummit doesn't it take hundreds of years for vampires to evolve? How long of a time span would it be?
@@connarmccain564 yes, about 500 years before cloven hands and feet and the skin tone becomes less white and more colorized. Raziel gets his wings nearly a thousand years in. There are 10 chapters in the game. Since it can't show an actual millennium of gameplay time, it shows pivotal points throughout the chapters.
@@spiralsummit how much of the chapters are completed? I did notice the detail of how Raziel looks different in certain clips. Major improvement from the early alpha of prodigal sons demo
@@Yaaqab26 Thanks, yes there are multiple armor and outfit pieces to wear. Game assets are being completed for use in the entire game, so some later chapters could be considered more complete than early ones, however after the release of the new first demo (chapter 1), the next chapters should follow at a nice pace.
