Would love a sequel to the Legacy of Kain series. The world of Nosgoth had such deep and interesting lore, it's a damn shame that it all ended with Defiance (definitely a badass game, just unfortunate that it was the last).
Two projects have been cancelled since sadly. Nosgoth didn't pass beta testing and I believe a game set in it's world called Shifter was cancelled or shelved. I'd love a blood omen re-imagining.
The games were all about the story from start to finish. The combat even at the best of it was always a bit clunky. But it was always the story and the world's with the rich history that drew me in and the first class voice talent. The level in soul reaver where you climb into the church is just so vivid with the depictions of the large blasting music instruments is just one of the environments I could spend hours admiring.
Yah, very well said, i recall finding Blood Omen at a electronics discount sale as i thought it looked interesting, well wow, what an immersive experience they gave even with just the old top down scrolling type of perspectives. From the first screens in the woods and the lightning and thunder and rain and trying to figure out why i was there and what i was supposed to do exactly, why these tavern people were so rude, then dying horribly and quickly ,then i was in a crypt!?! Whatthewhat? lol... it just drew me in so strongly as the graphics were really creepy and pretty detailed for what it was at the time, but the sound effects and voice acting was one of the other major aspects that just boosted my imagination and i could visualize the story and it was really engrossing and addictive. Yah, it had some super maddening points trying to figure out how to beat an enemy, or the map of a castle was just getting ridiculously confusing the longer ya went, but it was the biggest feeling of success and victory when ya finally solved something or beat a really tedious enemy that took multiple tries. Vae victus! Sadly i just dont see many game makers wanting to make good quality stories such as Legacy of Kain series and other games like back many years ago.
But yah, back to soul reaver , it had some amazing areas that were just stunning to see, it just made me want to explore everything, but it was too bad it was so restricted in so many places , like where i would try and jump off a ledge or bridge into a further deep area but the barrier would just stall ya. It was kinda disappointing in places as there didnt seem like enough enemies compared to all of them ya had to fight in Blood Omen, the regions seemed kinda empty.
@@d.aardent9382 I wonder how many people played soul reaver first knowing nothing about kain and his exploits then went back and realized the full story of how he came to be. That first scene of him ripping the bones out of his wings I had to replay it to make sure I saw it correctly. At first I thought he just hit him really hard. The disc of blood omen we rented had scratches on it so some of the cinematics skipped a little. Luckily it was only the bat flight to one of the areas and the sacrifice ending where Ariel talks about how he was a good man.
Oh shit. He’s mediv too? I can hear it in my heard. I don’t think he voiced the hearthstone version of mediv though. I think that sounds like Reno Jackson
"What am I too late for this time?".... My favorite line from Defiance. It goes to show how Raziel has fully realized that whether as a Sarafan, a vampire or a wraith, he has always been someone's pawn.
He actually tried to play the original Soul Reaver. He told this story in greater detail, when recording Soul Reaver 2. Its in the extra content of that game.
3:05 This part blows my mind. This man spent four hours, FOUR FREAKING HOURS playing a game he helped create, and it only felt like twenty minutes to him. Impressive, Raziel.
It sounds like Michael was given a copy of Soul Reaver 1 and got stuck on the tutorial where you're supposed to do a high jump then glide over the chasm. :c
There was a blooper reel scene in one of the "behind-the-scenes" videos on either Soul Reaver 2 or Legacy of Kain: Defiance (I forget which one) where Michael talks a bit about him playing through Soul Reaver 1 and getting stuck in a certain area until his daughter cleared it for him. He said that "kids have a sort of microchip in their brains" that lets them ace video games. 😅
I remember when I was a kid and I played the game I got completely stuck on the first platformer part of Legacy of Kain. Like so stuck I gave up on the game for many years. Then on a whim installed it once again and cleared it like no problem. Had same thing with that obscure game called "Space Interceptor" or otherwise "Project Freedom". Completely stuck for a long time and when I decided to play it once again a few months ago after many years, I cleared it a single sitting.
Lost Worlds fansite works on showcasing all the cut content, because the game was supposed to have much more content and even a different ending. Lots of cut stuff was used in later games.
unfortunately...Crystal Dynamics have relentlessly said there will be no soul reaver remaster without tony jay (I.e. the elder god). which is a shame but very respectable as well. because tony jay's elder god voice was so damn good.

One of the games, either Defiance or Soul Reaver 2, there was some behind the scenes stuff where he talked about this in the studio while doing the voice work.
I remember this on Soul Reaver 2 extras, so many great extra and voice sessions and outtakes with the great and late Tony Jay, Rene Auberjonois and Paul Lukather
C'mon Square Enix. Legacy of Kain The Lost Worlds even spent 20 years in recovering lost material for that specific game, show some respect to its fans, and do a remake with all the cut content. The lore and philosophy of that saga were something incredibly unique and well-written. Even used some lines in essays and dissertations, to great effect.
He read an audiobook called The Collaborator. It’s on audible.
He has the perfect voice for narration. I’m surprised he hasn’t done more.
Robert J. Mukwaodayin same! He should. him to reading books would be great
It's like hearing a mix of Medivh and Raziel talking, this is fucking incredible.
Earth Reaver, Fire Reaver, Air Reaver. What a game. One of the best series of games ever. Great to see this guy talk
What an incredible guy. Would have loved to meet him personally.
Kain is deified, the clans tell tales of him but few know the truth, he was mortal once, as were we all. Best intro to game ever. Information society's Ozar Mishradim and Michael Bells' voice for Raziel had me hooked from the very start.
The dude from Information Society also did all the music for one and two. DUnno about defiance tho
@@retardedvelociraptor oh, didn't know that. People keep screaming for a reboot but, I dunno. Its was the voice talent and the writers that made the game. You cant replicate that and make it better.
@@oakeye980 There is 4 and 8K AI resulation out there you can check
@@midnightblue3285 I just watched th 8k one. Honestly I didn't see much of a difference.
@@oakeye980 Gameplay ?
Undoubtedly one of the absolute best game series ever
Truly a forgotten gem and never got the full recognition it deserves
Just the lore the story phenomenal
Would love a sequel to the Legacy of Kain series. The world of Nosgoth had such deep and interesting lore, it's a damn shame that it all ended with Defiance (definitely a badass game, just unfortunate that it was the last).
Two projects have been cancelled since sadly. Nosgoth didn't pass beta testing and I believe a game set in it's world called Shifter was cancelled or shelved.
I'd love a blood omen re-imagining.
@@oliverjamesatkinson a little bit of data exist in lost world website about soul reaver cut content and about shifter too
I think the final insult is that the cancelled game Dead Sun was going to essentially retcon everything about Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver.
I also wish they made a soul reaver Prequel where you get to be Raziel living and part of the Sarafan.
I can still taste the bitter flavor of hope. Perhaps one day we will see what future the edge of the coin holds for Nosgoth.
When you discover Drew Pickles is also Raziel and your brain nearly melts down.
WOOOO!!!
MY BLUE BOI RAZIEL!!!
So good to see Michael Bell still alive and well!!! 💗
God bless this man for having such a sense of humor during his very well spoken explanation
The voice acting in Soul Reaver is amazing! Thanks Michael for your awesome work!!
The voice acting in the Legacy of Kain series is something out of this world.
This man will always be Raziel and Medivh to me.
Oh shit. He’s mediv too? I can hear it in my heard.
I don’t think he voiced the hearthstone version of mediv though. I think that sounds like Reno Jackson
OMG, Medivh from Warcraft III? I never took that into consideration but yes, dammit... that's Mike alright.
@@XX2Media he voiced medivh in heroes of the storm as well
Can you imagine being that kid who was given the game and Playstation by the actor who played Raziel? That would be such a memorable moment for him.
Its in the extra content of that game.
his voice is recognizable! I hear Chucky's dad when I hear his voice! and raziels!
He did a TON of the voices in Rugrats! I recognized him as Drew. He was also Didi's dad, Boris and then a ton of randoms.
That's talent!!
That Smile and "yeah" when raziel and soul reaver are mentioned... wonderful.
@@SaviourV I remember that bit. kek x3
@@SaviourV you reminded me how in defiance they had making of and they were making fun of the Hyldan.
The best, unfinished series of games. Still waiting 12-13 yrs to see how Raziel and Kains feud with moebius ends.
Didn't end well for Moebious Kain ran him through with the soul reaver and Raziel devoured his soul .
Deffinetly a game saga ahead of it's time
Remaster incoming!
It's been 20 years since soul reaver we need this game remade
No it doesn't.
@@legionofmetal9968 well they are remastering it now
@@charg1nmalaz0r51 Yep! I stand corrected! I have never been happier to be proved wrong! This is the greatest time line. Remaster is coming baby!
I just found out that Raziel's voice actor is much-much older than the character he played. Such a great voice talent and none of his 2 roles sounded the same. Amazing!
Raziel was really old before being killed and was at least a few centuries after becoming the soul reaver lol.
the way he says yee and eyes closes with plesure 🥰, it says everything!!! he loves his character. we love raziel too, as he is you and you are him till the end of times 🥰
Burning, like white hot fire, I plunged into the depths of the abyss… unspeakable pain!
He still rocks, unbelievable. Respect to you, sir. I also know him for Raziel voice acting
Such an amazing talented person. The Soul Reaver games are so amazing because of the voice acting.
They need to bring this game back.. it breaks my heart man, but that voice, nothing like it. Same as Kain, such amazing VA's.
One of my all time favorite game and cant imagine it without his voice.
Also,im gonna jump on the bandwagon and say,we need a full remake of all of the games! :]
I remember playing the first legacy of kain, that's along time ago.
One of the games, either Defiance or Soul Reaver 2, there was some behind the scenes stuff where he talked about this in the studio while doing the voice work.
Wow! I can’t believe how much he’s aged! 😳. Makes me feel old man.. Raziel!
Michael's mischievous schenanigans with the PS1 are hilarious.
Close your eyes and listen to his voice ... All i can hear is Raziel... The only difference remain is specific raziel style... ❤️❤️❤️
I KNOW YOU, RAZIEL. YOU’RE WORTHY
The fans want a remake or a HD version of the original game, they very well may make the game
Sad that we already lost René Auberjonois (Janos Audron), Tony Jay (The Elder God).
We need a remake before Raziel and Kain kick the bucket
I remember this on Soul Reaver 2 extras, so many great extra and voice sessions and outtakes with the great and late Tony Jay, Rene Auberjonois and Paul Lukather
That little, delighted smile when Raziel is mentioned...
So very grateful for his works. Thank you, Michael!
He is a great talent!
Michael Bell is a legend. Definately one of my favorites from G1 Transformers.
Michael Bell..he has voiced more characters that I have watched on Saturday mornings than I can count. Love the guy!
Mr Michael Bell your a legend you made my cartoon generation so worth while! Including the video game industry 😊👍🏻😎 thank you 🙏🏻 👍🏻
This is so wonderful it's amazing how equivalent his voice is to the character
I could listen to Raziel inner monologues and his conversations with Kain for hours
I LOVE YOU MICHAEL BELL
C'mon Square Enix. Legacy of Kain The Lost Worlds even spent 20 years in recovering lost material for that specific game, show some respect to its fans, and do a remake with all the cut content. I'm not even asking for a remaster, even with the original PSX graphics, just COMPLETE. PLEASE. We need that. Also why not, revive Dead Sun.
Your work amazing and you bring so much joy to others please keep doing what you're doing genuinely funny as well
A Legend.
To know that this guy is so old, that when he die we will not have a unique voice like his...
Thank you for this. The series was truly amazing and it really sucks ass that they will never continue it :(
the voice of melchiah was made without post processing sound effect?
wow just wow
Voicing Melchiah has destroyed my vocal chords and yet I lived.
Even now, just listening to this without looking you would think he is way younger then he really is.
His voice is sooo.. youthful, even in his age, it's rather incredible.
My long time hero. Forever you are my hero sir.
This guy deserves a special award for his contribution to media and entertainment because LKSR is one of the best franchises ever a franchise that deserves a remaster
Admitably I was only vaguely aware of Micheal Bell as a voice actor, for the longest I never really payed attention to the names behind the voices. But this game was one of them that made me appreciate voice acting.
No no no you are supose to stand up, laugh and say: "Regardless of what form you take, its good to hear your voice after all these years... Raziel." 😁 loved his voice acting!
Amy Hennig she wrote Uncharted 1-3 also did Legacy Of Kain.
