Welcome to our channel. All the weapon systems are like books. They tell us their stories. The Weapon Detective investigates these books, reads between the lines, analyses, and tells the untold. At the dawn of the Second Cold War, the fruits of new projects give us clues about the future. But current weapon systems also have their own stories. You can find in our videos technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. Let's investigate the weapons together when the Second Cold War is rising.

Order of the Temple
The VT5 has 500mm armor on the front and can defend against 35mm shells on the side. The only light tank. The old version of the VT5 engine had 886 horsepower, while the latest version has been changed to 1200 horsepower. Given that this light tank has a combat capacity of only 30 tons (36 tons of modular armor, and an additional 39 tons of reactive armor anti drone grille), even in its fully armored form, its maneuverability remains explosive. Without carrying personnel, fuel, and ammunition, the latest version of C130 can transport one unit, while Il-76 can transport two units.
VT5 can operate at an altitude of 5000 meters on high plateaus, as well as in subtropical areas filled with riverbanks and swamps. You will never see 99A, Leopard 2, M1, Challenger, T80/90 in these places
Especially the VT5u version, which is what all soldiers dream of owning. Unmanned tank, remote control. The key is very cheap, very cheap, very cheap. VT5u only costs $1.5 million. If it's the T15u it's only 1.5 million RMB. It's very cheap and suitable for large-scale deployment and a war of attrition. No one would worry about deploying 2000 units at once to launch a surprise operation.
I actually genuinely agree with you and finally some one who l found in the comment section that actually has a functioning brain for once and this world actually genuinely needs more people actually like you in this world and you actually couldn't have said that actually any better than me.
The fully uparmored version sounds like the revival of the medium tank concept, especially if it is as cheap as you suggest.
I am also convinced Western MBTs are all closeted heavy tanks.
@@rogerc6533 More precisely, it should be the concept of large-scale war consumables in major power wars. Efficient, inexpensive, simple, and systematic combat.
@@SpruceWood-NEG I think the Russians have this really well nailed down with their T-72/T-90 lineage tanks. Workhorse, reliable, simple and relatively cheap platforms that can be fielded in significant numbers and perform everything required of a tank potently.
Up armoring a light tank as China has done is an interesting contrast to Russias lightweight mbts but I find both extremely viable as a nations primary tanks. Chinas light tank is more mobile but Russian mbts can still serve heavy tank breakthrough type roles if required.
Western tanks are too heavy, expensive and try to do everything which ends up meaning they cant be fielded in enough numbers to do anything.
@@rogerc6533That's a Russian tank, not a Chinese one. China cannot equip the T72. At the same time, the T72 cannot achieve a basic model of only 30 tons. T72 is also unable to undergo unmanned transformation. More importantly, T72 cannot be deployed on plateaus and swamps.
Another thing to mention is that last year T72 directly destroyed Leopard 2A5, and last month T72 used artillery fired missiles to kill M1A1
There's only one remaining question....

Bangladesh initially bought 44 type 15 light tanks (one regiment) to evaluate it in the ultra soft delta clay conditions of Bangladesh. Bangladesh seems to be happy with its performance, however it would be nice to see a upgraded type 15 with a 120mm low recoil smoothbore gun.
the last time i checked, Bangladesh Army's tanks use both the Soviet 125mm smoothbore gun & the NATO 105mm gun (or its Chinese version)
the VT-5 for Bangladesh probably would need no change for its gun
@@quoccuongtran724 Your right, we have Chinese tanks with either 125mm or 105mm. The 125mm are smooth bore (fires both Russian and Chinese ammo), 105mm rifled bore (fires both NATO and Chinese ammo). All the ammo are made in Bangladesh.
That would add too much weight, the 105 mm ATGM provides good enough performance against MBTs and the bustle autoloader provides much better survivability than 125 mm carousel autoloaders.
@@wrongoloid4749 It wouldn't add too much weight, cockerill has a 120mm with bustle autoloader designed for tanks 30t to 35t.

In modern battlefield, it doesn't really matter how much armor you have or how low profile. If you are spotted, you will be hit. So, why make big and expensive gadgets and put them into even more expensive tanks that will be blown to pieces anyway? Better make something small, light and cheap. Makes sense...
I remember when bait was believable.
Only problem is the loss of trained crew. They won't necessarily survive a hit inside a light tank. In a modern MBT they often survive, only the tank is damaged.
My God since start of the everyone and dog think there an expert on war when there not, your cheap shit won't work any better and you'll lost more crew, crew survival is why westerns vehicles are bigger and expensive
All of a sudden people are instant experts, whose diplomas they earned by brainfarts, not sure if they think China's military is competent or they lacked critical thinking, nevertheless tanks are assets when used properly will ensure victory, I doubt this light tank is expansive as fast it's replaceable.
That's bs. China has a light tank cause a bunch of their land and their neighboring land are of jungles and mountainous terrain. Mbt are most for pier countries like Russia or US who have relatively flat land
Nice 🙂
India is developing a light tank named Zorawar for the Himalayan region. But to fulfill this gap until Zorawar will be ready, India has developed another kind of light tank by using the hull of the t72 tank and the turret of the t90 named Atharva.
New or Old .....Drones are dominating the field in Tank hunting. It only depends on How good is your Combined Electronic Cyber warfare to take a lead . and Only so Far Russia , China , US and Israel are the ones with leading capabilities with Turkiye , Japan , South Korea and UK catching up real fast .
Is it possible that all FPVs in these countries have higher-level drone components, 91% of which are produced in China.
@@SpruceWood-NEGI actually genuinely agree with you
India is pretty strong in EW as well!
Only problem is china is the unbeatable one in drone technology, both military or not. They just launched their second stealth supersonic UAV and will shut down drone exportation in war situations. Doesn’t look good for us
Problem is that China is also leading the drone industry.
Really interesting tank design, well suited for high altitude combat
How are the total hours to power pack swap?
India should license build some improved Type 10 tanks with hard kill active protection system added and high altitude modifications.Could likely keep well under 50 tons even with the modifications and some modular protection. These would overmatch the PLA light tanks and even have an advantage against the PLA main battle tanks.
Not really, the ZTZ-99A is currently the most powerful MB tank in Asia. It has hard kill and a reverse laser sight that can temporarily disable any laser guided weapons, making it impossible for helicopters or even tank gun sights to get the tone
Lol😂
Think of this light tank as a self propelled short range artillery support in the mountains. That’s what this tank was designed for. The name “tank” is a bit misleading.
It’s all about providing artillery support to troops in area traditional tanks and towed artilleries cannot reach.
the good things is, they actually use rear bustle autoloader instead the old soviet carousel
China's potential land based enemies were the Russians, Vietnamese and Indians.
ZTQ-15 is meant to fight in the mountainous terrain in the Himalayas as well as to fight in the jungle terrain of Myanmar and Vietnam. Also, it need to replace the old Type96 series of tanks when facing Russians.
It has 3 levels of armour package to deal with multiple scenarios.
Level 1 protection was ideal for mountainous operation where cross country mobility was needed the most, it's frontal protection is adequate for shrugging off 23mm AP rounds commonly used by the Indian Army in the mountainous regions. It has all round protection against 14.5mm rounds and artillery shells fragments.
Level 2 protection includes heavier composite plates will be installed if the battles involved close quarter engagements where RPG7s were rampant. RPG7s were commonly used by Indian and Vietnamese troops.
Level 3 protection offers heavy ERA coverage on the sides and frontal aspects in addition of composite plates, this will be deployed en masse if massive war broke out with Vietnam Russia and India. This level of protection offers immunity against 30mm APFSDS rounds as well as 125mm HEAT-FS rounds on the frontal hull and turret, and occasionally reduce the penetration effects of 125mm APFSDS. This kind of armour set up can be seen recently in the Ladakh areas in response to India potential procurement of Sprut SD light tanks from Russia and in the inner Mongolia to deal with the possible T-90MS threat.
India also uses French Milan ATGMs, Russian kornet ATGMs and Israeli Spike ATGMs in thousands and that would pose a serious threat.
Actually we r not going for Russian sprut. This time we r developing Zorawar light tank with Belgian cockerel turret localized and mass produced in India. Field trial has already been started. 😊

It's a good basic light tank that suits a need they have. In a western country it would cost billions to produce, billions to make and there would be hardly any of them due to cost. And it would take a decade to get ready.
This is a good channel though very informative
The most overlooked thing about ZTQ-15 is that the tank uses dedicated chassis. Kaplan MT, Sabrah, M10 Booker are all light tanks based on infantry fighting vehicles. These modification approaches mean the platform is not designed for niche usage and situations. On the other hand, China spent lots of resources to develop ZTQ-15 and VT-5 from stretch, which means this project is created in the beginning to serve in dedicated environment like plateau and waterlands, displaying China's intention and ambition to have an unfair fight vs her enemies. This is the real danger - the intention.

I actually genuinely agree with you.
An AI-powered 360° active point defense system will inevitably replace the need for heavy armor as a form of defense. The traditional heavy armor on tanks is now obsolete due to the increasing threats of tank munitions, land mines, man-portable ATGM, and kamikaze drones. It's impractical to place heavy armor everywhere on the tank, rendering it unable to traverse over swamps, alpine terrain, beach, and narrow urban streets to reach its military objectives. The future of tanks lies in being nimble, lightly armored, fast, with heavy firepower, multi-spectrum capabilities, affordable, highly automated, and potentially autonomous. China's light tank is on the right track. I would assume China is secretly investing heavily in a highly effective autonomous point defense system for all their tanks right now, with a strong focus on their light tank variant.
An AI-powered defense shield is not limited to relying solely on its active point defense system. In fact, a tank's hydraulics system, 360° cameras, and self-driving system could potentially be integrated with the AI to enable the tank to automatically maneuver at high speed and evade incoming threats while deploying countermeasures.
All leading nations are actively researching swarm air drones tactics, but China is one of the few countries that can potentially create a new breed of cheap swarm tanks equipped with AI. Such a swarm tank tactic could serve as a first wave of attack, causing initial losses but ultimately leading to a victory. With China's massive industrial base and the ability to focus singularly on production using AI, the country could keep sending wave after wave of these AI-controlled tanks to the front lines. Furthermore, each successive wave of tanks would learn from its AI compatriots' previous encounters with the enemy, making it a terrifying future for any opposing army that faces China's AI swarm tank hybrid.

Sabrah is a joke: ZTQ15 has NATO Ballstic 6 protection from three sides if it puts all the armor on ... the elevation and its ballistic computer makes this an artillery piece within 10km... the engine is great with dual turbo and it is also calibrated to only operate with mechanical/electrical second stage bypass for high altitude/low altitude operation... the transmission is great as China has produced 500+ tanks and it deploys all around Souther and Western China where it faces the elements and the export version to Bangladish says it is 30+kmp in reverse/70+ in forward .... and the PLA took out the electro-hydro suspension with more conventional suspension to increase the reliability (aUkraine war turns out you NEED a shit ton of tanks for break thru)... it has a cheap but effective remote-controlled dual-purpose machinegun/grenade launcher for different operation environment ... the 105mm rounds are really abundant in the PLA ...
@MultiYlin if it really is the best Y Nobody is buying it? Even the U.S are building a light tank base on Sabrah ASCOD 2 Chasis for their army, because they know how reliable it is the Israeli have won a lot of Tank battles 3 times and the American in WW2 to Iraq the Chinese tank is very impressive in paper but no combat experience.
