    My mother only ate the succulent, juicy, soft bellies of the clam. The chewy muscle she left for others.

      It does indeed! In Mexico, hot sauce is life! Although, I do appreciate the pure flavor of my catch and often enjoy it with no additions. I just love my hot sauce too! Thanks for watching! Hope you've enjoyed my videos!

    Most people always ate the belly, that is where the flavour is, then Mexicans became Americanised, who mostly discard the best flavour part of crabs and lobsters.

    As a lifelong fisherman since my Dad first took me out when I was only 3 years old I have to say I can't believe all you people on UA-cam don't cook things. If it is still moving and raw, it's not dead yet in my opinion. I've never eaten raw fish or seafood and have no plans to start at midlife crisis.
    With fish getting breaded and deep fried in peanut oil is what gives it a great part of it's flavor. I like cold cocktail shrimp along with fried and scampi. The cocktail shrimp is still boiled and cooked though before the chilling.
    Just not my thing.....I couldn't imagine eating a raw bluegill, crappie, sunfish, catfish, perch, trout, salmon, walleye, cod or anything else.
    Cooking your fish and seafood is what gives it most of the flavor. I have less chances of getting sick too.....go figure!
    John

      Yes, they are alive up until they are opened and prepared. My method is to chill them down with ice to put them in a sort of trance state where they cannot feel anything.

    A lot of work for a little bit to eat?

    • @CarlitosCookingAdventuresTV
      @CarlitosCookingAdventuresTV  7 років тому +1

      It seems like more work than it is, but actually very easy to do! With the smaller Chocolata Clams you can eat them right after opening! In the larger ones they tend to have sand and bigger guts, which needs to be removed. I definitely recommend these if you're ever in La Paz!! Chocolatas are of my favorite clams and unique to La Paz!
      Thanks KK Fung!

      Yeah! They are absolutely delicious when raw, although no reason you couldn't cook them :)
      But I highly recommend trying them raw with a little lime juice and hot sauce!! They are in season right now in La Paz, Mexico so if you see them don't hesitate to try them!!
      Thanks for the comment :D hope you enjoy!

    Why don you eat the belly? I juan to eat the whole thing raw!
    Why clean clam, you no clean oysters!

    • @CarlitosCookingAdventuresTV
      @CarlitosCookingAdventuresTV  7 років тому +1

      The stomachs in the clams are filled with sand, which can make you sick, so you want to be sure to remove it. On the smaller Chocolata Clams you are able to eat them straight from the shell with no problem, I've personally done it many times. It's just with larger ones there is more sand because it's a larger stomach, so you want to remove it for not only health but also flavor!
      Hope this helps! Thank you so much for comment and support! Salud!!

    Too much work. How many parasites u think u have ?

  • @karenmarquez9478
    @karenmarquez9478 6 років тому +2

    This is too much work, unnecessary, not to mention you lose all that good flavor and add a whole lot of synthetic lint.

    • @CarlitosCookingAdventuresTV
      @CarlitosCookingAdventuresTV  6 років тому +1

      Try the smaller ones from a vendor in La Paz! You can eat them straight from the shell so no time wasted cleaning!. Their stomachs aren't very big and so you don't have to worry about getting a bunch of sand in your mouth! Make sure you try it with some hot sauce, they're delicious! :D
