Dan, you are truly an artist! I've watched a LOT of videos of tree work and I haven't seen ANYTHING out there that comes close to the quality, precision and workmanship that you do! Thank you for sharing with us!

Thanks. This is the best tutorial on this subject I have seen and by a long way. There’s an art in teaching and some people seem to be born with it.

I knew the stick trick, but I learned something with angled back cut. Good video.

Love the stick trick. Was going to buy a transit to figure the height of the tree, but if this works, it doesn't get any easier than that. Nice job on the video too.

Dropped two leaning trees using this tapered hinge method with excellent results. Thank you for posting.

That was one of the best and clearest explanation of a variety of key tree felling techniques. It is the first time that I've heard about the hinge. My compliments on your clarity and thoroughness. I'm sure both of these are essential to success in your line of work. You taught me a lot. Even though I'm an amateur, I'm sure if I apply these in my limited tree felling activities, I will be much safer. Thank you.

I never realized there was a "controversy" over the effectiveness of the tapered hinge. I discovered it for myself years ago simply through experience, and there is no doubt it makes a big difference on fall direction and holding ability on side leaners. I can't imagine how somebody could "prove" otherwise... Thanks for taking the time - I seldom fail to learn something from your videos!

You are excellent at your job and l thank you for going to the effort of making these excellent videos and sharing your knowledge and expertise, which help amateurs like me to continue to fell and cut up these trees in a safe and productive manner. I have been using chainsaws for 25 years (without mishap) thanks to people giving me the benefits of their knowledge and in "particular" you Daniel!!! Keep up the great work Daniel, as l have learnt "SO MUCH"" from your videos...they are absolutely a "credit" to you!!
