I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

Thank you Lee for this demonstration and review. After watching this and other STIHL videos about this product I felt this is perfect for me and my small yard so I purchased one today. It was easy to put together and charge. I used it for garden edges and was so surprised at the power it has to cut through thick Buffalo grass. What used to take me two plus hours by hand took 30 mins, excluding the manual work of me pulling out the deeper Buffalo grass roots making their way under the concrete edging to the garden bed. I also had enough charge (I started with three lights) to run a flat sweep around the lawn edges so when mowing I won't have to have the mower wheels on the concrete edging, which has several curves, and thus will negate deep cuts into the lawn if (actually when) I run the wheels off the edge and the blades cut deeply into my lawn scarring it. This usually happens no matter how hard I try. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to find a pair of safety glasses in the box👍 All the best, Jill, Canberra, Australia

How clean is the cut with the propellers compared to using normal line?
I have this and the short battery life and long charging time is about perfect for my back problem ! I have to do my weed wacking in spurts - come in and charge the battery and rest / drink water / go back out . At this rate - my over grown yard may get done in a week’s time - so it’s going to be a daily routine . For me it works though - so I will never over

I have had this strimmer for a year and a half I didn't know that the metal frame was a guard🤠 perhaps now my plastic blades will last longer,🤔 and I didn't know you could extend the handle🙄 thanks for the video😷🖖 April 2020
John Plant I’ve had many tools were there’s features I never even knew about!! The rotations a really clever trick on this one though. Great for odd lawn edges. 😊
I have a large garden with long grass and lots of overgrown areas, is this strong enough or do I need something bigger? Ps I have a Stihl grass cutter for the shorter grass areas
Hi Janet. I’d probably recommend a petrol strimmer if the gardens really large or one which you can have multiple battery’s for. That way you’re not waiting thirty or so minutes to recharge. Hope that helps. Lee 🥷🌿

Hey man. Would you stihl(sic) recommend this model at this price range today? I’m starting to look for an edge trimmer, but the 20 minute battery life is my main concern with this one - I have a large lawn on a corner block & may need 30 minutes at least...
Hi Eth Nick, Stihl I think do a model with a replaceable battery as do Ryobi so it may be worthwhile looking at those as well if you need a longer charge time. Hope that helps. Lee

It’s a sealed battery I’m afraid on this model. Ryobi do a range of battery interchangeable tools which are pretty good. If your looking for longer usage times. Happy gardening!
I understand that you can use the poly blades or a piece of nylon cord. But, can the head be replaced so that you can use a spool of nylon cord?
I think it can John. Ive not used a spool or nylon on this model. So I’d double check though with Stihl they have some contact details on their website and technical spec sheets which may show spool compatibility. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

I find the blades snap for to easily for my liking. Can I instead use a line string instead of the blades for this particular model?
Hi Labin. Yes all strimmer plastic blades are pretty brittle to be honest. I use line on most of mine. You can use line on this one with an attachment too. Happy Gardening!🥷🌿

The blades don’t last more than five minutes. Unless you have a tiny garden I would advise a different machine..
U didn’t show how you turned the head over to edge the lawn or do u just turn the whole thing over to edge the garden
Nice bit of kit. Enviro friendly. Shame full charge is only 20mins. No good if you have buisness and 4 or 5 gardens in a day but perfect if it comes out once a week. Nice one Ninja dude

Its a great little handy strimmer,very very cheap.If it breaks just replace the unit.

I see that you didn't actually show the results with the edge trimmer doing the lawn edge, I take it it isn't very good turned to 90 degrees???

But grey does go with everything! It makes a great foil for other more vibrant wardrobe choices. Hehe. It’s a good bit of kit. The one above does have a removable battery which maybe a better buy given you can use spare batteries to extend its strim time. 👍
2.5 hours to charge for a 20 minute run time, if you even get 20 min

I bought one last week. It lasts 13 minutes and 48 seconds until it stops. Nowhere on the box does it say that it lasts such a short amount of time. Now my stihl dealer is refusing to refund me! AVOID this product.
I found that the blades break constantly, very dissatisfied with this product, CANNOT recommend

How do I change my trimmer from blades to string trimmer?
He is wrong in his review,you cant have replacement batteries as it is built in.Its for small gardens,if you have a very big garden by another brand.
Hi Ian. Thanks for your comment. I should have been clearer when discussing the battery. I was trying to critique how if you had a larger garden you would need a model with a replacement battery ie the models above or different brand as this one is integrated and can’t be replaced. Dont need to be another brand, within Stihl you can buy FSA 57, FSA 90, or FSA 130 with interchangeable and replaceable batteries. I think Stihl is the best brushcutter brand
Big money for this and no running time. waste of good money for a trimmer that only last for 10 min. The blades ware out fast and if you put string on it the running time is less then 10 min.
