Hard to say what is causing the issue. Try loosening the top and bottom hex head screws (MB2). Make sure you assemble the upright components in the correct sequence.
@@RCsRCCars im used to the newer tamiya stuff, m07,m08, ta05, does plastic seem less wonky on the Tt02R or SRX, ?? servo moves everything, but probably depleting my batt at faster rate, yea tried loosening stuff, ill double check

have a stock TT02, steering is stiff, and the problem is not the steering rack but binding at the upper and lower uprights

Are you using a 48P pinion with a mod 0.6 spur?

I have been running my standard TT02 brushless on 2S with 3900KV motor. Waiting to see what breaks first 😁

If I had to guess, it would be one of the diff cups. Best of luck.
