Business class on a low-cost carrier! How does it compare? Is it worth it? Watch this review to find out.
Jetstar is the low-cost subsidiary of Qantas. They operate both the Airbus A320 and the Boeing 787 - my advice is avoid the A320 at all costs. However the 787 is another story - especially in business class.
This Jetstar Business Class flight review covers my flight back from Bali to Melbourne. It includes the business class lounge at Denpasar Airport, boarding, take-off, the Jetstar business class seat and inflight service.

Every other UA-cam trip reporter could learn some things from your videos. I really appreciate your efforts to be respectful by not filming other passengers are shoving the camera in the face of the crew on your flights. So many other reviewers are incredibly disrespectful and invasive of other people's privacy. You also do a fantastic job with the camera and editing in general by showing everything that needs to be shown in a way that doesn't drag it out needlessly. Your voice overs are concise, articulate, and actually give useful information unlike so many others on here. Easily one of the best reviewers on UA-cam and I'm officially a fan!

Great review Dennis. I agree with your comments about the state of tray tables on both domestic and international flights and across all classes the Airlines need to really improve in this area

Dennis - I love your videos/reviews. Having recently flown JQ Biz class from DPS to SYD myself, I think the review is spot on with the exception of the lounge. I found it pretty shabby and over crowded (especially during the Sunday night departures). Anyway, please keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for this review. I did laugh hysterically at the "Bintang Express" comment!! I have definitely done that flight, especially when flying solo, however, I will be taking my daughter's back again soon, to Bali, and have been looking at better options, and this looks very suitable for a 6 hour flight. I didn't realise Jetstar had the 787. Wow. I've flown Jetstar from Perth to Melbourne and was quite pleased, it was better than I expected at the price.

Dennis, I used your reviews to make a decision when flying to Australia. I flew LAX-MEL on United Polaris and made sure to avoid the window due to your experience. I am planning on flying Jetsar Honolulu to Brisbane. Thank you for positing these honest and helpful reviews. I'll be sure to bring my disinfecting wipes for Jetstar (as well as my wallet for those $4 coffees that I experienced flying out of Avalon in January).

Great video Dennis! On a recent trip to America we flew Jetblue Mint Class Vegas to JFK. The experience was fantastic and the seats, meals and entertainment would rival some long haul business class. While this Jetstar experience looked good they should pay attention to the Mint Class experience and price!

Hi Dennis another great video, Norwegian Premium have the very same seats but there legroom is a lot more than Jetstar.

Hi Dennis, great video as always. I was recently in the Premier Lounge and found it to be overcrowded, noisy, dirty and very hard to get a seat with very average food and drink.

So in summary nice bloke falls in love with sophisticated lady and they end up flying Jetstar trying to avoid looking "down under" to the grubby underneath :) Such is the eternal love story.
My wife is lucky to get me to take her in an Uber taxi to Gatwick for some plane spotting! Our back garden is far cheaper with the old binoculars......

Okay so those power points looked grim as hell but having seen the rest of the product and the crew i'd happily put that down to a bad cleaning team that day. The vegi meal looked abit ad & sorry but they more-often-than-not tend to. ( very respectfully) Julie knows how to work the camera way better than you lol.
Sticking with the 80s/ 90s theme music wise I was actually at a Level 42 gig( not sure if they ever made it to Oz?) when you notification came up and I had to hit mute double quick on my cell as it queued up lmao.

Hey Dennis, do you have a my.flightradar profile or similar that shows us where you have flown? Must be a pretty insane set of stats and sectors on the map.
Jetstar must have the best business class among budget carriers. And it's miles ahead of Scoot biz

Thanks for another great review, Dennis. Your food definitely looked better than your wife's vege option, sadly. As a vegetarian myself, it's sometimes hit and miss... but sometimes my option looks way better than the meat one... Enjoy your next flight. 👍

I recently flew to Bali on Air NZ, in premium economy. Slightly better than Jetstar Business class, and slightly cheaper. Alas, no flights from Australia as far as I am aware...
For s six or seven hour flight to somewhere like Denpasar do you think a lie down bed is an unnecessary luxury Dennis?
I am very surprised to watch this video. We flew jetstar Melbourne to Denpasar a couple of years ago. No preflight drinks, only quick meal service after which the crew disappeared. We dropped jetstar from our consideration after that flight.
Do Jetstar do priority baggage for business class passengers?
Great review Dennis. Pretty disappointing when basic cleanliness is lacking on an airline. Oh and you are definitely punching above your weight with your lovely wife!

Actually very good for 5/6 hour flights esp daytime and can use points quite easily but with surcharges the GA full J ticket competitive if you need to lie down

Did jetstar have any alcohol issues this time
EDIT: The IFE screens appear to be an older generation than the economy ones (rather strange)
I bet they retrofitted economy with screens more recently.
Jed Robertson the screens in economy were installed at the same time as the screens in business
The screens in economy are non adjustable, where as the screen in Business is in a plastic casing that can swivel so you can still view your screen when the seat in front is reclined
Are they really champagne or procecco/cava?
I found this video because I wanted to see if the upgrade to business was worth it. The value of an upgrade for me is the ability to sleep in the seat and this doesn't seem worth it. All the other stuff you can keep, just give me a flat space to lie down on a long haul flight.
To give you an idea, Sydney to Phuket I can get for $200 or Business for $820 off-peak with Jetstar. I would much prefer to buy two economy seats for $400, one in front of the other, rip out one of them and allow the seat to lay flat 😁 ie like the sleeper buses or trains you can get all throughout Asia. You could even get 3 seats for $600 which still works out cheaper than Business and would allow a fully flat economy bed. I don't get why airlines don't offer an option like this. Less bodies in seats also means less weight onboard so less fuel costs etc.
It's kind of interesting to see similar reviews by you and Paul's trip Reports on the same airline. Looks like it was pretty solid as far as low cost Asian airlines are concerned. Great to see your video as always Dennis!

Jetstar may call it business class - but its really Premium Economy (with the exception of lounge access) - but it doesn't entice me - although its a million times batter than Jetstar economy. Well produced video nonetheless

There is a pretty good, solid reason why there is a web site called Don't Fly JetStar. To my knowledge, no other airline in Oz has an ACCC award judgement for false and misleading statements. $1.95M if I remember correctly.
Love your videos, but for myself, I will never set foot on another Jetstar plane.
The worst part is you pay the business class fare for a premium economy seat. The service is good though. In reality you can get Garuda for the same price but with an actual business class seat.
Only downside about jetstar’s international services using the 787, is that majority of crew on board are Thai cabin crew who are paid considerably less than their fellow Australian cabin crew. A poor move by jetstar in order to cut costs.
