Bro I miss it sooooo much I have flown with Etihad almost for 10 years now and it’s the biggest thing I miss about them the song just reminds me of traveling whenever I hear it
Ohhhhh I remember when *that* First Class video from Etihad came out! It was such a great video because I didn't think you went over the top at all with your critique but your could just FEEL your discomfort. When absolutely everyone else was gushing and singing the praises of the First Class suite you rightly showed that you could have the nicest seat with the nicest food but if it wasn't matched with friendly staff you would still be uncomfortable. So some things you just can't buy. And 700 subs - congrats and well deserved ❤
In regards to your comment at the end about Abu Dhabi Airport, it's a frustration we all share BUT it's been announced that the Midfield Terminal will finally open this year on December 2, UAE National Day. It's something to look forward to and possibly one more incentive to choose Etihad over another airline, or just to choose AUH as an airport in general.
It’s been under construction since 2012, and was originally due to open in 2017. It hasn’t been specified what will happen to the old terminals, with a likely scenario being a closure/privatization. It’s also possible, if traffic increases, that they are used for low cost carriers.
700,000 Subs. Congratulations! Happy to see another NSD video. Love the three 787 window view of the sunset. The gap in Biz Class seat attractiveness is striking. You had spectacular views, ample space and just the right amount of privacy. Middle and odd numbered window seats looked stuck in the middle. Happy travels.
I flew the Etihad A350 between Heathrow and Abu Dhabi. They’re a good airline but the only think I encountered that was super bad, was customer service. They kept telling us to look up phone numbers, such as to the lounge, instead of telling us as a customer service person would do. So I was a bit confused by that.
I flew on the Etihad 787-9 in business class from Washington Dulles to Abu Dhabi, and I have to say, my flight attendant was amazing! She checked on me nearly every hour throughout the flight, and business class was full. True, perhaps compared to Qsuite or an Emirates A380 business class, Etihad would be third, but it's still a very good product. Their economy class, however, not so much.
@NonstopDan I've been a fan of your content for 2 plus years now and I want to say congratulations on finally hitting 700k subscribers. I can't wait to watch you hit the 1 million subscribers milestone (and hopefully this year). I just flew Etihad in 11H (business) from Abu Dhabi to Jakarta. The Etihad Lounge in Abu Dhabi airport is superb! The seat was great, entertainment system very good, close second behind Emirates, only the food was ok. It was good but nothing unique. The service was anazing, really attentive and friendly crew. Overall, great experience and would recommend.
I think no airline or any company or government basically any corporations wants people take pictures or record without asking them first cause liability or one thing recorded could damage 100 year reputation
Just did ORD-AUH-MLE and back in J on the Etihad A350-1000 and 787-10. No mattress pads on either flight. The A350 really didn’t seem to need it, but the 787 seats were very stiff even being adjustable “air cushions”
Great video as always. I've flown Etihad many times, mostly in Business, and it's still very good - the seats are great - but the service has tailed off the past 5 years or so. Before that it was absolutely superb - friendly service, restaurant quality food.
Funny how I got an Emirates ad on this video 😂 however, I've flown Etihad often to Australia and Asia in Economy and I always loved the experience and the service. The livery and old boarding music are just incredible. And I'd still prefer AUH over FRA at any day. I'll try out their business class next month and looking forward to it, even if it's not considered the "best" of the Middle Eastern carriers.
If anyone's interested, I'm no longer flying Etihad. Their upgrade bid system and the options of buying stuff extra is a scam. Lost €125 on "neighbour free seats" which I didn't get because they double-booked and sold them to other people, and now they tell me "seats are non-refundable". F*** them.
I actually find the food on Etihad usually of higher standard than Emirates and sometimes QR even - I guess they just don't invest a lot of effort in those 'special meals' you order but their regular menu is fantastic. Love the all-day steak sandwich they have as a snack.
I think Etihad business class is waaaaaaaay better than the Emirates 777 product (the latter which has utterly unbelievable 2-3-2 seating!!!!!). My experiences flying Etihad business class have all been very positive, and I would fly them any day before going with Emirates on their 777s...
Etihad generally costs 1.5-2x of what emirates does. A business class return ticket from Karachi to london is 80% more expensive via etihad. After your review, I am confident that it’s not worth it at all, especially since one leg of the flight is in a very very old plane where the seat doesn’t even become a flat bed. The service is doesn’t seem to be any better than that on any other gulf airline either. Qatar>emirates>etihad
I was literally asked by an etihad crew why I’m flying etihad since I’m flying from Asia to us. I told her that I wanted to try the middle eastern airlines, and she told me, she’d always fly Ana which is far superior than etihad. Says a lot about this airline I guess?
I flew Etihad around the same time you did 5 years ago. The service was pretty standoffish, but I actually liked it vs the constant interruptions from Emirates staff. At least people can choose between the two, but for most people I totally agree with you. Not the greatest for the ticket price
Enjoyed that, flying from Australia to the US next year for the first time and looking at a comfortable cheaper option for business class. Have flown Qatar, Qantas and Singapore airlines so interesting to see Etihad now as well. I was also impressed on your ANA video, so may consider them as well. Your work is much appreciated all the way down under, 👏👏👏👏👏. Cheers and safe travels
I was thinking of using my points to go Etihad business from Australia to Europe later this year but Qatar ticks all the boxes for me and seems to be a level above still.
@@yiannimorfopos9627 I'll probably have a choice between 777 or A380 so the QSuite would be an option, but I do love the overall feel of the A380. Just flew on it to and back from Europe this month and it was amazing both ways. Never flown Etihad so a bit hesitant.
i just spent 20 hours in etihad business clas from london to manila via abu dhabi. couldnt sleep a wink. they claim "flat beds" but they are inclined and bumpy (painfully intrusive headrest), and narrow. i complained politely to the staff, who were very good and they said they'd fix it with a mattress. so they put a foam rubber thing on it and now it was an inclined bumpy non-flat plinth with a mattress on it. there was no "recline"option. you either sit bolt upright or you try to recline it but it pushes the base forward obliterating your legroom and it only reclines a bit cos you need to do the "flat bed" option or nothing. but there is no flat bed. it was torture like a stasi prison stress position for 20 hours. i even asked if there was a spare seat in the economy section cos at least economy seats recline. i've flown business class long haul hundreds of times with different airlines and these seats were the worst. great food and staff but awful seat design. if you are taller than a midget you wont fit your feet into the footwell so you'll press against it the whole time. i'm 6'2"
In your Emirates first class vid before this video, I asked you to do an Etihad business in the comment and I can't believe you did it on your very next clip, thank you so much
Would you rather take a 777 emirates or a 777 etihad? To be honest, I think the seat on etihad is the biggest selling point compared to emirates. Sadly the vast majority of flight on emirates use the 777.
AUH’s midfield terminal is opening on the 2nd of December (national day) which is going to increase passenger numbers by a lot now as it was the major setback of Etihad.
To be honest, after flying some of some J class cabins in other airlines, I give the food like a decent 7/10, the seat is pretty comfortable but they don't provide bedding and the cabin get super hot on the A350 so it's kind of uncomfortable to sleep. Otherwise, congrats so far, the reviews are always enjoyable and make me look forward to my next flight
Just flown Manchester to Osaka via Abu Dhabi on Etihad. Really happy with the service, particularly on both legs to and from Osaka. The first 3 flights on the 787 were great, but the final leg back fom Abu Dhabi to Manchester was appalling on the 777. It was like stepping back in time 20 years. Nowhere to store anything, not even a bottle of water. The seat was so narrow and the bed was too short, and such a contrast to the seats on the 787. How can Etihad still fly with this seat?
I had been flown with Etihad first suite several times in the past years but the latest experience (July 2016) let me hesitate flying with them. I was in First Suite on A380 from Abu Dhabi to Sydney. It was a total 13 hours flight but I couldn’t sleep a bit as the gentleman sat beside my suite snoring extremely loud all the way thru the flight (most suites have really bad sound insulation as the partition in between is not all the way up). I put on the noise cancellation earmuffs still can hear clearly. So I asked the flight attendant whether he could resolve the issue. He told me that’s nothing he can do, I just needed to tolerate it. However after I came back to Australia, I asked my friend who was a flight attendant in the first class, she told me that for experienced flight attendants, they usually wake up the passenger who snores and ask whether he needs some drinks. If the snoring still continues, they would let the snoring passenger know the truth, as other passengers pay such top price as well, shouldn’t tolerate it at all. But those methods Etihad steward dared not to try at all. I wrote an email to Etihad and ask what would they do if it happens again when I fly again with them, they never reply. So I haven’t flown with them since.
Your remark about Abu Dhabi airport got me laughing hard, gotta admit 😂🤣 I recently flew Etihad's economy for an about 15-17 hour flight from Vienna, with a stopover in Abu Dhabi and the same type of aircraft you did, and it was interesting to see the differences between the classes!
Well, I took only Economy class in 2017, the service is a bit odd, but the issue is the AUH airport, the security is pretty unprofessional, basically I tend to and ask others to skip Etihad in all cases
I use to have the same issues with recording until I switch my approach..... This is what I tell them right when I sit.... "Hi, I'm a Travel UA-cam Vlogger my goal is to do a fun & honest review of my experience. Few important info: *My view is we are on the same team and my goal is to do a positive video of the airline. *For privacy I blur out faces of all Crew members and I will be only recording myself selfie mode mojarity of the time".....Zero issues so far if anything they over deliver on the experience and make me feel extremely comfortable doing my job. Hope this helps 👍
I agree with the conclusion 100%. Etihad comes across as a slightly above average european airline, still has a lot to learn from the airlines in the region. I just used them for a connecting return flight, and I must say I wasn’t impressed. I flew business and economy, and to my surprise the crew weren’t friendly and “smiles were hard to get by” regardless where I was sitting. It feels to me that everybody who works in Etihad isn’t happy, including ground staff. Also, We were delayed in 3 out of 4 flights. I flew business with Oman air last year, although they’re a bit rough around the edges and some more training would be good thing, the crew were friendly which more than made up for some lapses in service (at least for me that’s what I focus on, a friendly service)
What’s the beef with AUH? It’s honestly one of the easiest airports to get in to and out of. I don’t transit there, to be fair. The lounge situation is a bit underwhelming (though the EY first lounge used to be excellent).
What are the programmed meals that are served during the flight? How would you know the difference from the meals that are served anytime in the flight
Etihad is the kind of Airline everyone likes and is ok with, but doesn't really stand out, similarities include Air France, Aer Lingus, Japan Airlines, and American Airlines, and more.
Dan…have you flown Condor? It’s a Lufthansa company. Flying business class from Phoenix to Gothenburg in May. Hoping I don’t regret it. Reviews are good. But I need YOUR review. Help!

I have no reason to ever fly to Abu Dhabi or Dubai, but I do enjoy watching your videos about these airlines.
Fantastic content as always.
Hi Dan, thank you for the inspiring reviews! Etihad is simply gorgeus to me. The mattresse pad is tucked in the pillow :-)
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it so much!
Beautiful! Videography keep it up
At least you go back and try it again but most other people might, assuming that they have a choice, abide by the old maxim 'once bitten twice shy'!
Can one keep the leather pouch and items (socks etc) within? Makes a great souvenir.
Wow that Sunset ❤
What’s the beef with AUH? It’s honestly one of the easiest airports to get in to and out of. I don’t transit there, to be fair. The lounge situation is a bit underwhelming (though the EY first lounge used to be excellent).
What are the programmed meals that are served during the flight? How would you know the difference from the meals that are served anytime in the flight
"the nightmare that is Abu Dhabi airport" - I live here and it still baffles me every time I fly how badly organized/designed AUH is.
12.00 unreal plan… the light is amazing
Have a Safe and Beautiful Trip
Etihad is the kind of Airline everyone likes and is ok with, but doesn't really stand out, similarities include Air France, Aer Lingus, Japan Airlines, and American Airlines, and more.
Nonstop Dan's videos always give me major travel envy!
thanks for the new review
😁
link to those socks?! i keep seeing them, seems like you are a fan of those
I like Etihad but prefer Emirates because Dubai over Abu Dhabi anyday.
Dan…have you flown Condor? It’s a Lufthansa company. Flying business class from Phoenix to Gothenburg in May. Hoping I don’t regret it. Reviews are good. But I need YOUR review. Help!
700k!🎉
I have always enjoyed flying Etihad 😊
