      Yes, and he persevered and maintained what are the most important characteristics of his voice: the fullness, richness, deep, effortless also mixing harmonies typical blues and soul. That make him stand out and shine. These are aspects which for me were more valuable than he reaching high notes or screams (don't get me wrong, when he screamed perfectly
      in tune was absolutely amazing). Probably he stopped smoking during ou right after the 3rd record of Audioslave.

    This show is a great tribute to the brotherhood of the Seattle music scene. Mutual respect, admiration, cooperation, and friendship amongst all the players made all their chosen configurations stronger.
    Pretty amazing footage here. There were some lucky folks who caught this show. I think Chris was quite a peaceful soul, who got along with nearly all of his former band mates. Rest peacefully, Chris.

      I had much love for Chris and what he meant to the music in my life. It deeply saddened me, and still does to know there are things in a persons life that brings them such depression where life becomes unbearable. His work stays with me for all of time, and that cannot be taken from me.. The dash between birth and death is all we have when all is said and done. Chris's dash made mine much better and I will always be grateful for him and his talent.

    HEY EVERYONE THATS .....SEAN KINNEY.... ON THE BONGO DRUMS!!!! From (Alice In Chains )playing bongo drums in the last song ( all alone) thank SO SO MUCH you for doing this for Layne he would of loved it!!! Tears.... so many tears..... this Little statement was written about the show from Rolling Stone magazine
    After finishing his thought, he waved McKagan and Martin back onstage, and joined by Alice in Chains drummer Sean Kinney, the group played a truly haunting rendition of Above closer "All Alone" - this time with lyrics coming from a pre-recorded Staley vocal track. It was a powerful, mesmerizing way to end an undeniably incredible show. It was also a small reminder that no matter how many big names you can add to the guest list, some break-ups are more permanent than others.

I found him singing alice in chains, pearl jam and chris cornell all the time.... some how he learned the songs earlier than learning English.... rest in peace both layne any chris, you have been touching somemany hearts. My son's hearth is full with your songs, literally he do not understand english that much. but he understand exactly what you have meant... jusy 7 but he feels just as the same way I fell. It has been 2 years since my comment. since then my son has been playing drums and recently started playing some guitar and sings some as well. He decided to play an Alice in chains song “would” at his drum grade exam. I want to believe they see us above and proud of how they have been touching to our lives even before they left.. what they have achieved with music is borderless and timeless.

I know, I'm not 16 anymore, I'm a grown up woman but God I can't stop crying! But I'm sure I'm not the only one! Most of us grew up with these bands, this superband, with Layne...

      ***** I'm very touched by your words! You explained so well what I'm trying to tell friends who "really grew up", I also grew up in the way that I'm working and became "an adult" ( as an educator, with children and teenagers, they love me and I love them because I understand their problems, I take lots of my time to listen to them, to what they like, to do sports with them...) BUT in my heart, I'm still the 16 years old who begins to sing when I want to (also at work), I can't help making jokes and I often hear from other people of my age "when will you grow up"! But this is also difficult because I don't feel and act like the other adults, when someone tells me "keep your distance with children who have too many problems", or "don't take ot so hard, it's the world". How is it possible to "take my distance and act like nothing happened" after work when a 12 years old child told me he or she is scared to go home because her or his parents hit him? When a child has to sit on a table with 10 other children who are eating and he's not because his parents "forgot to make his sadwiches for the xth time?"?!? I share my food with this child, and I got problems for that? So, maybe I'm not really a grown up person but I don't like the way adults are supposed to behave, there's too much hypocrisy in our "adult world"! And I think Layne was someone who couldn't take this hypocrisy, this sad world we're leaving in, he was too sensitive, maybe even scared (I'm sometimes scared, like a child! ) and he chose to hide and not feel the pain any longer. He discoverd drugs, heroine and he had sadly too much money to stop...Ps: please excuse my mistakes, english isn't my first language, I'm from Belgium...

    • @lucrese1
      @lucrese1 8 років тому +7

      ***** I'm not better than you and reading people like you it's what's gives me also hope in humans! If I told you that I love my cat more than most people I know and I more attached to her than most persons I know, you would maybe say "this woman's crazy"! But it's also the thuth! Her love is unconditionnel, when she wants to be left alone, she shows it and I have so much respect for this little animal than most human beeings with their wars and so called religions they use to kill each other! I didn't tell you but I had a chance: I grew up in a little village in "the ardenne" in Belgium, lots of forests and animals and not many people, I think that helped me, with the fact that I had a loving, adorable mum (who died in 2012), she was a real angel! Yes, life is very strange! It's been very nice talking to you!

      THERE ARE SOOO MANY GREATS...AND HE IS ONE..but any musician worth his weight in humility, would not be happy with that moniiker...makes one rather elitist.... AND THAT IS NOT MIKE!..He with P.J.inducted into HALL o FAME...along with so many others...in the past 40 years. I hate to see them discounted by said comment...could it be you "prefer" Mr.McCready...One cant really be THE BEST at an artistic form. What Im hearing is "I AM MIKE MC CREADYS FAN for 40 years...TO ME HE IS THE BEST".....Hey I'm bored, lol, stuck at home like the rest of ya... I mean no disrespect (feel the same for Staley's Voice)

    Both beautiful and bittersweet. R.I.P. Chris Cornell - still can't believe I'm writing this :( Layne Staley and John Baker Saunders. Sincerest condolences to Lily Cornell Silver, Susan Silver (given your history and your daughter and despite all the bullshit I can only imagine your pain) and Chris' birth family. I know the pain of losing a parent but imagine that must be tenfold having a loved one in the public eye when the media want a piece of you at your lowest point in life. Lily, your dad’s voice changed my life - I first heard it as a 20 year old living in a country town in Australia and it changed my world, that’s how far reaching his talent was (Hands All Over in 1989 - yes I’m old!). A small consolation, in your darkest moments, remember how much your dad loved you. Blessings to Ben Shepherd and Eddie Vedder, I cannot imagine your pain but it must be immense. Lily, your dad was truly amazing...ua-cam.com/video/7axldakkdYI/v-deo.html and I'm sure he lives through you. I'm sure your have so many memories Lily...cherish them all...www.101wkqx.com/2017/05/25/chris-cornell-eddie-vedders-final-hunger-strike-duet/

    Reach Down here is Chris in his best form in his later years IMO, so much power in that chorus. He doesn't sound too raspy and it's in perfect balance, real belting in chest voice. What a recovery after the lesser (live singing) Audioslave years.
    He sounded great and revitalized on the 2017 Soundgarden tour too from the clips i've seen.
    R.I.P.
