Jamaica have been competitive in track and field for a long time and not sudden because of the success we see now. As far back as 1948 London Olympics with Arthur Wint winning gold in the 400m and Herb Mckenley the silver in the same race.
I saw the great Arthur Wint in the UK during the early 1950's. I also saw the Jamaican quartet of Wint, McKenley, Rhoden and Laing compete. By the way, in the final leg of the 400 metres relay in Hlesinki, it was George Rhoden who ran and beat Mal Whitfield of the US.

Long time we fast Jamaica to the world 🇯🇲

you are right
The first Jamaican to win 2 Gold medal at an Olympic games is the least heralded. Nobody talks or gives Rhoden his credit. Sad.
This is golden
I cried
Man I am.a proud Jamaican
George Rhoden ran the annchor, not Arthur Wint.
The anchor leg on that 4 x400 relay was run by George Rhoden, the winner of the individual 400.
It was Wint who ran tge anchor leg it was geirge rodden
We ain't new to this, we true to this 🎉
Love this 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❓
The person who narrated this video couldn't distinguish between Rhoden and Wint? How?
Runner on last leg of winning 4x400 team, is George Rhoden not Arthur Wint.
Amazing that they would make that mistake.
CALABAR HIGH is the Green and Black in the Jamaican flag
Wint, Rhoden, Herb
🇯🇲🙏🏿

George Rhoden
Not Wint
According to naysayers, Jamaica must’ve had one of the most expensive and sophisticated doping labs/programs in the world in the 1940s and 1950s.
Thank you zatopek5000
My pleasure Andrew Wint. Just out of interest, are you related to Arthur?
Yes he was my Dad's Uncle, I was born in his hospital he took care of me when I was a sickly kid
Thanks for your interest. It sounds like your great-uncle was a remarkable man
