  • I needed some curved steel for a few upcoming projects, so I decided to scrounge the shop for materials to build a tubing / flat bar roller. Here's what I came up with using 100% scrap materials... Enjoy!

    I saw another guy's roller earlier and thought "I bet the first thing he bent was the turning wheel". Baam! Nice.

    Would be most appreciated if you could even give general dimensions. HxWxL. thickness of steel used and size of rollers. What would you do different now that you have used it for awhile?

    Nicely done. Is the top threaded rod quite difficult to turn? Would it be possible to make another hand wheel instead of having to busy out the impact driver each time you want to use it?

    • @AModernMaker
      @AModernMaker  5 років тому +1

      It’s not very easy. Using a wrench would probably be better. Thin steel a hand wheel would work though.

    Why don't guys tack weld a short piece of the same material to both ends of the stock to avoid the snipe (kinked ends that end up being cut off scrap) This would make a smooth circle on a full length piece of stock and then cut off the tacked on section and clean up?

    • @AModernMaker
      @AModernMaker  5 років тому +1

      I think that would be a lot more work than just starting with a longer piece and cutting off the kink

    which steel are these axles ?
    i bought 3 axles from
    1.0570 | St52K | S355JRC+C
    with 25 mm - 1"
    maybe its the wrong steel
    i cant test the machine because i have to wait for 2 parts (
    threaded rod )
