I realise you did this a little while ago, just bought a K5 today and found the "Instructions" useless! Came across your video and it was brilliant very clear and easy to follow so thank you very much for your time and effort in compiling it .
Yes agree was frightened to use my 63rd birthday gift from my brother. After this video, I can't wait for the morning so I can use it Thanks so much from Australia
My husband and I would never have put the K5 Karcher together without your perfectly easy step by step instructions. Then to learn more how to use the machine correctly was a real bonus, can't wait to get out there to use it!! (Never thought I'd say that about using a pressure washer!). Thank you so much for your help
I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to produce this video. Don’t think I would ever have managed to assemble the machine using the instructions. Highly recommend watching your video before attempting to assemble. Thank you so much
Peter, I so thoroughly enjoy all of your presentations, and find myself sitting through entire episodes even when I'm not interested in the particular product or subject, simply because your delivery manner it's so pleasant and enjoyable. Never change.
I've got this machine, and I've had it for a few years, and whenever you make a video of something I have I always feel like I've been granted a visit from the all knowing teacher, which is brilliant. You always teach me something new I didn't know, and how to do things properly and get the most out of whatever equipment you're talking about. Very happy surprise to see this K5 video pop up, have a brilliant day Mr Parfit!
Yes indeed, "Absolutely Brilliant"; as only Peter Parfitt can attest. We are blessed to have a person that KNOWS what he's talking about and delivers it in a way that helps us to learn easily. Wow! Incidentally Peter, I bought the older "Karcher Pressure Washer"; after you told us about it 3 yrs ago. It did exactly what you said it would. Thank you so much kind Sir.
I bought one of these yesterday and used your superb video to assemble it. A lot clearer than the instructions. I used the wand to distribute the detergent, then the path cleaner took on my bloc paving. It now looks great.
As everyone else has mentioned, the instructions with the machine are useless. Your video was indispensable, I couldn't have managed without it. Will watch the other videos. Many thanks
I have just completed my first hour of jet washing, without this video I would have still be trying to out how to put it together. Well done and thanks.
I’m glad to see that in the latest version that the accessory components are screwed on rather than slotted, as the former keep falling off. Great video, very interesting.
Well done getting the full kit. I bought the K5 two years ago and I have since been back and bought the patio brush, the car kit and a drain cleaning kit. The drain cleaner is fun for the whole family!
😎I think you may have been born to produce video tutorials sir. Great advice delivered in a no nonsense manner and overall extremely watchable. When I opened the box for my new Karcher K5 I was quite annoyed at the fact that "some assembly was required" and a glance at the instructions had me headed straight for the internet to see if there were any videos showing step by step, dreading the experience as so many videos are so hard to watch. Imagine my surprise and pleasure when I came across the three wonderful videos you produced on how to assemble and use the K5 properly. One would assume you work for the BBC on a professional production, so informative yet entertaining and done at a pace that was just perfect to follow, not rushed through or moving at a snails pace and frustrating me into skipping anything to get to the point. In addition to the task I bought the K5 for, I am now itching to try it out on my car and driveway too. Thankyou so much Peter.
Just bought a K7 premium and after watching this I will have absolutely no problem in using it. Great in depth video. Thank you for this. Just about to go watch your other videos on this machine.
I couldn't agree more with your comments about ensuring the pressure washer is emptied and stored in non-freezing conditions. I had two Karcher pressure washers break beyond economic repair because I didn't know about this. Don't keep it in a non-insulated shed over winter!
Hi Nick, Years ago I had the then top of the range Karcher which cost me an arm and a leg and I am afraid that one weekend I was lazy and it froze to death over night. I learnt a hard lesson that weekend. Cheers. Peter
Their pressure washers are excellent. We went for a cycle ride today and the guy at the coffee place was using a Karcher to clean off the patio area and he said how great their machines are - I agreed with him and he was happy. Cheers. Peter
Brilliant thank you so much, just purchased a K5 and assembled it whilst watching your video, far more informative than the rubbish manual, Karcher should give you a free K7 for your effort. Your explanations are clear and concise with just enough tips to avoid making mistakes, looking forwards to your follow up videos.
Superb, thanks very much, I’d already used the wrong screws to hold the wheels on before I found your video. I hope that the Karcher fairies have bestowed countless gifts to you.
Hi Graham, Yes, I think Karcher need to look again at their instructions as it was my engineering background that helped me to work out where those screws should go - plus the obvious use of the pair in the same packet as the plastic dowels. Cheers. Peter
Thank you very much for this wonderful video. With its help, the assembly of the K5 worked perfectly. Kärcher should feature this video on its platform. Best regards, Ron.
I have a K4 and have been thinking about buying this attachment for a while but I wasnt sure if it would be worth it. After watching this video I ordered one and Im so glad I did. It was easy to use and cut the time spent washing the paths hugely!
Just got one of these and unless they've changed the design since this was made, the machine screws should be used for the handle and there is a longer pair of self tapping screws for the wheels. Also, if you get the version that connects to the app then the assembly instructions in the app itself are 100x clearer than the printed manual, the app itself isn't really useful apart from that.
Sir, you are amazing, brilliant video I don't know what I would have done without your clear well filmed advice, Karcher should pay you, so much better than their info, Big thank you from a rather elderly lady.
Sir thanks so much for this brilliant video otherwise its a nightmare shifting through the useless ones on here. So many others posting idiotic meaningless short videos showing nothing. Karchers instructions are completely disgraceful too
nice review. as a k5 and some older model (i think its a k620) owner with various adapters , i should say this: i think they they made things little better in the past, now if you want something reliably for little more substantial jobs, reach for their pro line (better pumps, better nozzles, thicker, stronger hoses etc). i'm not saying it's a bad product, it does the job very well, but in the end, now i have to use about 20+ year old nozzle from old model, since original from k5 cracked at the plastic tip and does not spray correctly (very low pressure). on my older model, i just replace the start capacitor and some o-rings, and it it runs almost as new (it was used heavily all this years with no bigger issues) and the best part: i can still use all new adapters with this, i really hope, karcher won't end this tradition. and by the way, that foam lance is not something to brag about, for true thick foam (which is whole point of getting one) get a proper one. other adapters are ok, i also have cable for cleaning gutters, pipes etc, expandable nozzle for cleaning house façades or some bigger things etc. i do have rotating brush for car cleaning, but i don't think it does job that much better then regular hand washing and brush tips get damaged quickly, i think, which could lead to scratches on the paint etc.
Crystal clear instructions Peter, I think Karcher should include a link to your demonstration to save any confusion re the various components. Excellent review as always. cheers.
The screws to hold the wheels on are actually the 2 in the dowel pack, and the smallest screws are for the base. the longest screws are for the handle so you seam to have gotten pretty much all the screws wrong aside from some of the small screws. At least that is what it shows in the assembly manual.
Have to say the instructions with the K5 are soooo poor! Your commentary and explanation, especially around screws, dowels etc was excellent. Concise and easy to follow, well done and thanks again
Hi Peter - Thanks to your demo I was able to figure out that the 2 long plastic dowels were NOT valves that somehow fitted into the hose connections. However, you may have used the only 2 machined screws for the wrong purpose 3:25 I used them to secure the handle to the two retractable metal rods that have threaded metal cores bored specifically to accommodate these screws. The screws for the wheels appear to be the longer, self-tapping ones listed on the manual's page 3 (illustrations B & C). Oddly enough, when you snap the wheels into place, even if you didn't use the 2 provided screws to secure them, the wheels would probably stay put without the this additional security. Love your wellies🖐😎
Hi Peter, another informative video. Something to add to one, or both, of your forthcoming videos: Care should be taken not to kink the high pressure hose. The kink will remain, and there will be a tendency for a kink to form again in the same place. Over time this will weaken the "high pressure" hose. Not that I've experienced a failure, but something to bare in mind.
@@NewBritWorkshop Yes, but trust me, that still doesn't guarantee a kink free hose. A rotary connection in the system would help enormously. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that new hoses are of a less robust construction to save money. Pressure rated yes, but maybe not so kink resistant.
Thanks, friend! Like everyone else the instructions it comes with is rubbish. Your explanation is very clear but it's not just that, you give tips like lining yp the wheel holes as you insert them and how to line up the flat ends. I was excited about buying the machine but put off assembling it until I found your video. AMAZING WORK THANKS.❤❤❤😊
Thanks Peter for the demo it looks like the machines have come a long way since I last used one. I used to end up soaked to the skin back in my apprentice days using a karcher lol
Hi Glenn, The first pressure washer that I used was an industrial one in a truck repair place. I did not realise just how wet it is possible to get on an otherwise sunny day !! Cheers. Peter
Thanks for an excellent presentation .. like you said, the instructions are not great and I usually need pictures and had no idea what a "Dowel" screw was
Thanks for another Great Idea on how to avoid the COVID blues. Looks like the weather has lightened up on your side of the pond! Looking forward to seeing the car wash! Have a Great Day!
Thank you so much, very interesting video and insights ! The safety tips are highly appreciated, I didn’t know the pressure washing was powerful enough to cause potential injuries. I’m saving this video for future reference 🙏🏼❤️
Looks like a great upgrade on the K2. The place for the cable alone is worth it, I find it a real hassle. Although, it'd have been nice to be able to roll in both hose and electric cable (the electric cable should have something like they have on the pull along vacuum cleaners) to ensure they're as compact as can be. It looks like the hose might conform to a larger circle each time you put it away!
Fantastic timing Peter, I have a K5 that’s just been delivered so this is a big help. The video also reminded me that I must buy some more Machine Wax, maybe from Axminster 🙂
Thanks Peter I have the K4 with the Home care disc, looking forward to your take on the block paving...bet you have not done the video before my missus gets me onto the block paving ..Cheers Paul
Hi Paul, I am still researching the best strategy but I expect to clean the block paving with the surface cleaner, hopefully not on full throttle. Then, after it is dry I will sweep kiln dried sand back into the joints and after that apply a long life anti fungal/moss treatment with a hand sprayer. That is the current plan but it may change. That video is about 6 weeks away unless something drops out of the running order. Cheers. Peter
Thank you soooo much for clear concise to the point detailed instructions - step by step guide indeed. Others so called unboxing to assembly UA-camrs can learn a thing about two from your post. Cheers.
Perhaps Karcher have changed the fastening arrangement as my K5 is identical apart from the shrews holding the handle are longer threaded pins and not self tapping screws. dated 23d June 2021.
Due to the bad weather I’ve only just assembled said machine. I followed your review pausing at each stage. My wife says you deserve a knighthood as she’s never seen me put anything together so easily. I concur, again many thanks.@tWorkshop
hello Peter…your video is very helpful…we bought a Karcher K5 last year and have used it a couple of times…but we have a question - 1.when the 3 in one jet is attached,we see that you can turn the settings round and it clicks on each turn...we are maybe being stupid, but what do you line it up with to show what setting you’re on ? … this set up seems a bit hit and miss and is the only thing we have trouble with…hopefully you may be able to give some advice…many thanks…
Yes, The T5 Surface Cleaner is part of the Home and Car option for the K5. For me, the surface cleaner is by far the best way to do a patio and makes the work very easy and efficient. Cheers. Peter
I got the machine today . What I like most about it is a long cable. I can easily go around a car with it without having to constantly carry it with myself like I had to with my K2 . But the display isn't working when cycling through the intensity settings. Is there some trick to get it working because I see no buttons or anything.
Just bought one k5 power control and just noticed the noise level is 92db instead of 91db what the hell? It says it's made in Italy. So I've got a pressure washer noisier than the k2 i had for 10 years.... Did i get a air cooled pump instead of a water cooled?
Just got my one and I think you may have the wrong screws in certain holes. Check the app assembly instructions. Long self tappers for wheels, machined screws for the top handle and the short self tappers in the rest.
Great review. Do you think one of these would be suitable for a small patio cleaning business? And do you think there is a lot of difference between this device and the K7 model?
Hi Callum, You should consider the K5 first as it is less expensive yet a very robust and powerful machine. If it gets damaged or stolen it is less of a loss yet will still suit your needs well. If after 3 years you want to move on to the latest top of the range machine then fine. Good luck to you and I hope the business is a success - remember, go the extra mile and be the best. Cheers. Peter
Hi great video quick question I was thinking of upgrading my k4 eco which has the green pressure hose too the k5 as demonstrated by your self Could you pls tell Me if the pressure hose on your k5 coils up and kinks when in use or does it lay down flat This is a major floor on the green hose and I have found that company’s now produce a non coiling replacement hose in which case I might buy the k5 compact only £199 and a new hose as I still have all the tools and lances from my k4 Many thanks jeff
Hi Jeff, The pressure hose with the K5 is black and, as far as I can tell after many hours of use, is unlikely to kink. Because it is quite stiff it needs to be uncoiled by rotating one end in order to get the loops out after which it lies flat. The beauty of the K5 hose is that it is 10 m long which is a great time saver when doing a patio as the machine does not need to be moved very often. When doing a car (perhaps not a limo) the machine can remain in one place. Cheers. Peter
Love your videos :) I’ve learned so much from them. Can I ask where would you recommend to store your Karcher? In video you mentioned about freezing temperatures which made me wonder if storing it in garage is actually a bad idea.
Hi Alena, It is best to make sure that your Karcher is kept frost free. An unheated garage may well get below freezing in Europe and North America. Perhaps the cupboard under the stairs or in a utility room? Even so, do your best to get any residual water out of the machine by tipping it and getting some drips out of the hose inlet or outlet. Cheers. Peter
Mine is currently in bits attempting another repair. It started with the dreaded surging (no leaks), had valves replaced so now it works, problem is, it doesn't build up any pressure.
Hi Dave, I have no decking and do not know anyone who has it. My understanding is that decking is easy to clean but care must be taken to either reseal or re-coat the wood after it has dried following pressure treatment. Cheers. Peter
When I use the patio “gadget” even on “low” selected with the dial it won’t use the shampoo, on the handle bar the indicator shoots up to max and no foam. To get any foam i need to get the lance.

Hi Chris, Many thanks for the kind feedback. Cheers. Peter
Thank you soooo much for clear concise to the point detailed instructions - step by step guide indeed. Others so called unboxing to assembly UA-camrs can learn a thing about two from your post. Cheers.
Glad it was helpful!
Perhaps Karcher have changed the fastening arrangement as my K5 is identical apart from the shrews holding the handle are longer threaded pins and not self tapping screws. dated 23d June 2021.
Interesting. Cheers. Peter
Damn good review, best review on the Karcher K5 I have seen, thank you, mine is due on Wednesday.
Hi Paul, Thank you so much. Peter
Due to the bad weather I’ve only just assembled said machine. I followed your review pausing at each stage. My wife says you deserve a knighthood as she’s never seen me put anything together so easily.
I concur, again many thanks.@tWorkshop
Thank you very much - such clear instructions - was a great help
Glad it helped!
what kind of hose can you use for it
hello Peter…your video is very helpful…we bought a Karcher K5 last year and have used it a couple of times…but we have a question - 1.when the 3 in one jet is attached,we see that you can turn the settings round and it clicks on each turn...we are maybe being stupid, but what do you line it up with to show what setting you’re on ? … this set up seems a bit hit and miss and is the only thing we have trouble with…hopefully you may be able to give some advice…many thanks…
Hi Duncan, It is shown on the indicator on the pressure gun handle. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop …thanks Peter,that makes sense… think we confused ourselves !!
Great video! i have a question, the pump head in the machine, where the pressure hose connects, is made of metal? or plastic?
Hi Emanuel, I think it is metal. Cheers. Peter
I subscribed to your channel after the first pressure washer video you did! Thanks for the in depth reviews. Really good work. Keep it up 🙌👍
Awesome! Thank you!
Great review, thank you!
Were you demonstrating the T5 patio cleaner or was it another model?
Yes, The T5 Surface Cleaner is part of the Home and Car option for the K5. For me, the surface cleaner is by far the best way to do a patio and makes the work very easy and efficient. Cheers. Peter
I got the machine today . What I like most about it is a long cable. I can easily go around a car with it without having to constantly carry it with myself like I had to with my K2 . But the display isn't working when cycling through the intensity settings. Is there some trick to get it working because I see no buttons or anything.
I have never looked at any display on the machine - no need, it works. Peter
Thank you very much for your priceless help 👍
Happy to help
Just bought one k5 power control and just noticed the noise level is 92db instead of 91db what the hell? It says it's made in Italy. So I've got a pressure washer noisier than the k2 i had for 10 years.... Did i get a air cooled pump instead of a water cooled?
Thank you, Sir, for the clear explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
Just got my one and I think you may have the wrong screws in certain holes. Check the app assembly instructions. Long self tappers for wheels, machined screws for the top handle and the short self tappers in the rest.
You may be right but mine works fine so no harm done. Peter
Super video 👍🏼‼️ It clears everything up👍🏼‼️😁
Glad it was helpful!
A great demonstration video right there
A great piece of equipment but I bet it's really expensive. Thanks for the demonstration.
Hi Tahir, Nothing is cheap these days but to employ someone to do the patio and block paving would cost about the same as this machine. Cheers. Peter
What an amazing review! Great job, Sir!!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the video I'm not handy at all and found your video very user friendly. Super.
Glad it helped!
Cheers. Peter
great video much much better than the instructions, cheers matey
Glad it helped
thank you very much, this was so helpful
Really informative, I’m definitely looking at buying one of these. Great review.
Hi Jim, It is a good bit of kit and that surface cleaner really does a great job. Cheers. Peter
Thank you for this found it useful in April 2024
Glad it helped!
Hi great video quick question I was thinking of upgrading my k4 eco which has the green pressure hose too the k5 as demonstrated by your self
Could you pls tell
Me if the pressure hose on your k5 coils up and kinks when in use or does it lay down flat
This is a major floor on the green hose and I have found that company’s now produce a non coiling replacement hose in which case I might buy the k5 compact only £199 and a new hose as I still have all the tools and lances from my k4
Many thanks jeff
Hi Jeff, The pressure hose with the K5 is black and, as far as I can tell after many hours of use, is unlikely to kink. Because it is quite stiff it needs to be uncoiled by rotating one end in order to get the loops out after which it lies flat. The beauty of the K5 hose is that it is 10 m long which is a great time saver when doing a patio as the machine does not need to be moved very often. When doing a car (perhaps not a limo) the machine can remain in one place. Cheers. Peter
Thank you so much for this brilliant video!
Glad it was helpful!
Cheers. Peter
Perfect video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderfully instructive video-thank you Sir
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, do you know if the k2 attachments fit the k5? The patio cleaner in particular. Thank you
I think that they should. Peter
Can i ask the detergent bottle - can the cap be removed so that the empty bottle be refilled using other detergent brands???
Yes but it can be tricky as it is a good fit. Peter
If the detergent is being absorbed what could the issue be?
Not sure what you mean but it does take a few seconds to come through. Peter
Mine is currently in bits attempting another repair. It started with the dreaded surging (no leaks), had valves replaced so now it works, problem is, it doesn't build up any pressure.
My very first machine behaved like that and I discovered it was due to frost damage. Peter
Excellent instructions
Fantastic, you explained it very well 👏
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent as usual Peter. Looking forward to next videos. Any chance of including decking?
Hi Dave, I have no decking and do not know anyone who has it. My understanding is that decking is easy to clean but care must be taken to either reseal or re-coat the wood after it has dried following pressure treatment. Cheers. Peter
@@NewBritWorkshop Thanks anyway Peter
Brilliant review sir. Thank You
Glad you enjoyed it
When I use the patio “gadget” even on “low” selected with the dial it won’t use the shampoo, on the handle bar the indicator shoots up to max and no foam.
To get any foam i need to get the lance.
I apply the patio cleaner with the lance and then leave it for 20 minutes or so before using the circular patio gadget. Peter
Couldn't find the part where you connect the surface cleaner to the handle?
It is very easy just push in and twist. The same as all the other attachments. Peter
Brilliant demo.....Good man
Most helpful. Many thanks.
