    I appreciate the video, thank you. I am comparing the Karcher K5 Premium Power Control to the Karcher K7 Smart Control. Other than the extra 300PSI & 100 watts & what looks like a difference in the wand & some extra accessories, I can't really justify the $450 difference in price in Australia. Main purpose of use is cleaning hard floor surfaces at my house, i.e. concrete driveway & outdoor tiles/pavers. They both come with the Hard surface attachment so that's a plus. I have no interest in the Bluetooth feature, just a gimmick really. Am I missing something? Thanks.

      Hi i suggest you watch my video ua-cam.com/video/H6eDRQNxi98/v-deo.html this compares the K2 K4 and K7 for car washing with snow foam and what you can expect, i use a MJJC pro canon in that video which is my favourite, the auto glym one isn't a bad choice either, but you can get better foam from mjjc, all links are also in that video
      onto pressure washers, I feel, it is always better to have more power and flow and turn it down that not have enough, the k5 will allow you to clean quicker and clean/rinse from further away giving a larger fan but the k4 will be ok

    Thanks. The video is a bit rough, but then again so am I, so that is perfect. I started with a K2 and then as my son bought his first car, he did not want to use dads "good" Karcher, so I upgraded to the K3 and gave him the K2. As I started cleaning driveways and more, I upgraded to the K5, but not the full control Plus (It was not available at the time), and I have been kicking myself for not waiting and getting the Plus version. Now I have a few spare dollars and am considering the upgrade to the K7 full control plus, but dont know if it's really worth the upgrade for a bit more pressure and the all in one, but heavier, nozzle

    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  2 роки тому

      Depending on your usage, the upgrade will be a bit like going from the K2 to the K3. I would say if you were thinking of the K7 or K5 then go for the K7, but as you already have the K5 then i would probably say just keep that. there is a smart control version where it connect to your mobile, but the though of dropping my £1000 smart phone with wet soapy hands i question the need for that

    I bought the k4 new series by watching the videos. It has no problems in washing the floor and car, but the drain opening apparatus does not work with pressure. I called the customer services many times to take it to the service, then I took it to the service, but this way it is without pressure.
    It was said after the test they did that it worked. I can say that it was a failed apparatus. They did not receive a refund. My money was a baton.

      They all cans do a patio but as the size goes up then it’s a lot quicker, although you can have a T-race that can clean patios I tend to mainly just use the gun, k7 have Longer hoses over something like a k5 compact hoses so again this makes your life easier and a dirt blaster nozzle can help with tough cleaning and the k7 show has it built into one Lance it really depends on your budget if price isn’t a concern the I would recommend the k7, but if space or cost is more important the a k5 would probably do well, and any in between are filling the gaps, I also may choose a larger compact model over a smaller non compact version

    Hi, I have read that a stop connector can damage a pressure washer. What particular connector do you use? Thank you

    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  2 роки тому +1

      When using my pressure washer's i usually have them connected to a straight through push on connector which is recommended, the connector that i use is from Karche ramzn.to/3xdbdTH which i find is reliable and don't leak, and i have it connected to a 3/4 inch 19mm hose also from Karcher,
      I don't have anything to do with Karcher but i tend to like there products
      in the video i had it connected to my garden hose system which is a 1/2 inch about 12.7mm hose and it was connected to a Karcher water stop connector,
      i would recommend using a straight through connector, water stop / aqua stop connectors can have a habit of pulsing the water supply that can put more strain on the pump/motor, but to be honest i couldn't be bothered to disconnect the 3/4 inch hose with straight through connectors that i use for my pressure washer to bring it into the rear garden for the demonstration of this video, if you see my car washing video ua-cam.com/video/H6eDRQNxi98/v-deo.html then i am using the 3/4 inch hose with the straight through connectors in that video

    I have a pressure washer. Gerni 7000 its heavy and doesn't seem to have much pressure when using the patio cleaning brush even thoe it has 2175 psi So I think I'm going to get my money back and get a k7 👍

    • @RichManPoorTech
      @RichManPoorTech  Рік тому +1

      there are a few versions of the K7,
      the compact you pull a hose into the cleaning solution where as the power and control models, take a karcher cleaning solution bottle upside down as show in this video , if you have a bottle you can refill with a larger karcher cleaning solution eg 5l, or as i have, use your own cleaning solution,
      all cleaning solutions in all the pressure washers i have used (different makes), is usually supplied with less pressure than when using full power setting, allowing to agitate before full power washing off. as a alternative you could also use a external foam canon with your cleaning solution in that, this is what i do for cleaning cars as you want clean water for rinsing

      hi i don't have any official figures, but what i do know from may days dealing with large industrial machines in quarries, is that all pumps have figures relating to maximum hight and distance, so adding length to the hose will have an effect on flow and pressure, it is up to you if this is a benefit ie longer hose, or a negative ie less flow and pressure.
      now on my industrial karcher HDS801 steam pressure washer, i have a 10 or 15m extension hose,
      when i attach it i don't notice any difference in cleaning myself, i just notice it takes longer to heat the water and for the detergent to either come through or stop coming through when i turn it off
      Hope this helps

      @RichManPoorTech  2 роки тому

      on your serial plate it should show you a voltage range 220-240V 50Hz if bought in europe/UK for example, usa and i think canada and mexico versions will show different voltage with 60htz, So presuming you have or are getting say a european model then it should be rated for 220 volts
      As i;m actually a qualified electrician i will elaborate more
      here in the UK items were rebranded 230v from 240v volts to have a european standardisation, France Germany etc should have done the same from 220Volts to rated 230Volts even thought the power generation did not change in either countries, in fact at my plug sockets the voltage is actually 251 volts and everything rated at 230 volts or 220v works completely fine, electric is produced at higher volts allowing for voltage drop over the cables by the time it reaches properties just make sure if your supply is 50hts then your k3 needs to be 50htz don't mix usa and rest of the world htz

      @RichManPoorTech  2 роки тому +1

      I hard question to answer as there is both pros and cons for all, i also don't know what your main usage is, eg car cleaning or home, or a equal mix of both. how long your weekly or monthly usage is, or your budget etc if your looking at car cleaning then watch this video ua-cam.com/video/H6eDRQNxi98/v-deo.html. that might help you, my general recommendation is buy the K4 model upwards, The k4 is a good step up in quality from the k2 and k3, both in power control and compact version, i personally would buy a more powerful compact over a less powerful home or power control version myself, as they allow you to clean quicker, although if you want a tracer for patios etc, or prefer to drop in chemicals then the home version may be better suited to you, my recommendation for my mother for example would be a K2 compact for her car, this is due to her age and physical strength, as the larger machines also go up in weight and would be more difficult for her to set up and pack away.
      but as you can see if you watch my channel i have a K2 K3 K4 K7, a HD 6/13c and a HDS801 eco, i mainly use my k7 power control at home for washing my car and more powerful jobs, as it has a longer hose, although if its in the back of the garage i will grab the k4 if im washing the car as it is easier to get out and is capable for the intended use, sorry Im not trying to sit on the fence, but i hope i have given you more information to help you choose the one for your needs

      @nileynet 8 місяців тому

      @@tomtebloss89 That's correct, so it's not a non-return value in the truest sense. What happens is because the trigger does not control the motor directly, the pump continues to run for a fraction of a second after the trigger is released, until the pressure switch cuts it out. This builds excess pressure in the pump, which is designed to release the pressure back to the low pressure side of the pump. That pressure surge is meant to be absorbed by the hose connected to the inlet (older pressure washers even has a specified length of hose that it must be connected to). The restrictive size of the channel for the water to flow in a aquastop-style connector means the pressure can't be released back to the inlet hose fast enough to avoid over-pressure on the pump & inlet components. Think of the inlet hose as a buffer and the aquastop connector as a restriction to that buffer.

      Hi as your a pressure washer business then you will need a commercial unit, the K series domestic units are not designed for constant cleaning day in day out where as the commercial units are, remember that as a business then you would probably be doing 1 year of domestic cleaning in 1 to 2 weeks of commercial cleaning.
      also what type of cleaning will determine what type of washer
      Do you need 110V?
      Do you need mobile power? eg a petrol version
      Do you need steam?,
      is it for food preparation?
      For example i have a HDS steam cleaner which is equivalent to a HDS6/13 at about £2,500.00 which would be over kill for cars
      i have a HD6/13 cold, which is still probably over kill you could maybe use a HD5/12 for cars
      and the k series i use at home,
      I am not a affiliate of karcher, but i do like there products, best to google "Karcher centre" for your local commercial dealer, and tell them i sent you and im sure they could help you more

    Turning the machine on at the socket outlet is the same as turning it on at the machine so far as the machine is concerned, it is a full isolation switch for power and control circuits. There are advantages to both.
    Turning on at the wall will wear out the socket outlet contact tips but not in an undue fashion, they are designed for it. Replacing a S/O is cheap.
    Switching at the machine isolator will wear out the machine switch contacts. Replacing this is costly.
    Switching a socket outlet with potentially wet hands when using washing equipment is just dumb. The karcher isolator switch is designed to be safe with wet hands.
    You choose.

      Being both a Electrical engineer and a computer engineer, i have always been told that both highly sensitive equipments and powerful motors, are always best to controlled from the power switch on the device owing to a possible power surge or spike, especially as motors get more powerful and are wired in star or delta configurations, and because of this i have always followed the principal of switch of the machine at the intended switch

    • @Ewecnt
      @Ewecnt 2 роки тому +1

      Fair enough bud I got that if I’m honest.
      It still remains that switching upstream of an isolator is perfectly safe for the pressure washer. The main isolator on the karcher is a 2 pole isolation switch so for internal maintenance and true isolation it is a safer option, anyone working on a machine with a plug and lead who doesn’t unplug it though deserves what they get, so classification of isolator is a bit of a null point really.
      For every day switching the machine will not be able to tell the difference. In fact a 2 pole isolator will have a higher frequency of contact bounce during turn on due to increased bounce events, so it will create more noise in the supply than switching at the outlet with a single pole switch, I assure you this noise will be negated in the machine itself with simple suppression circuitry to protect any electronics. And due to something referred to as racing contacts no mechanical switch will close both poles simultaneously, the net result being the same as using a single pole switch.
      Any open circuit with single or double pole interruption will stop current flow dead. Research Kerchoff’s current and voltage laws and ohms law, they are very basic building blocks that display what I mean.
      Supply start up noise for motors is the least of their worries, motors are a robust animal and deal with some real drama during their normal running. They create more noise than the switch does!
      Let’s also consider that this is an AC machine. So it has no reference of phase or neutral only amplitude of the sine wave. Every 1:100th of a second the supply changes to an inverted half wave making it impossible for the machine to control direction of current on start up. It really doesn’t matter which pole you close last it’s 50:50 if you close it on a positive or negative half cycle. You can’t control the amplitude of the wave at which you close the contacts either, that is something only an inverter can do by controlling frequency and voltage thru out start up and during running to limit voltage and current independently, they have different rates and graphs on start up dependant on the type of machine and motor and can also be custom set but rarely are. An inverter doesn’t care about start up voltages any more than a motor either, they simply take AC, rectify it on to a DC bus then use thyristors to turn that DC in to stepped AC at variable frequencies and amplitudes (you can’t alter AC frequency without turning it into DC first) Inverters are terrible animals and kick out harmonic noise aplenty. Inverters give a motor a hard time due to the stepped wave forms they produce too, but motors don’t care. You know how you can calculate the area under a sine wave using calculus (you do if you’re and electrical engineer), the infinity theory, well that doesn’t apply to inverter outputs as they are not true sine wave outputs, not even ones that claim they are! And in industry we don’t run large motors on ‘true sine wave’ inverters but that’s another topic in itself. Inverters employ signal conditioning filters in their supply to prevent noise entering the mains from the inverter as opposed to the other way around.
      Let’s go back to large 3 phase machinery. To reduce harmonics fed back into the supply from inverters you commonly use a three phase transformer with a dual wound secondary, so delta star star. This allows you to load the star and delta wound secondary windings equally with your inverters. The 3rd and 7th harmonic cancel out as they are inverted mirrors of each other at a shifted phase angle directly in agreement with the phase shift between the secondary transformer windings. All other harmonics are added together algebraically resulting in lower total noise returned to the distribution network. NONE of this would harm or protect your motors in any significant way!
      Any electronics in the pressure washer will have sufficient smoothing in their power supply circuit to remove noise from switching and the motor they are associated with.
      I spent 9 years at university studying electrical and electronic theory. I work in heavy industry as an electrical technician, I can’t claim to be an engineer as I don’t pay into a governing body but I do have 30 years field experience and the relevant qualifications. The term engineer is a protected thing in much of Europe, like the word doctor. The kid who swaps your wiper blades at Halfords is what they call an engineer to make customers feel valued, the plumber who swaps a radiator calls himself a heating engineer. Why not a doctor of heating? To most people the term engineer is without value in this country these days.
      But all the same I liked your review and gave it a thumbs up. 👍 And if you have wet hands it’s wise to use the switch on the machine!!

I needed to get it cleaned asap. When I used the pressure washer, man it just melted all the dirt and grime that was on those areas of my house. I used that krud kutter soap and it was over after that. Easy to assemble, feels durable, very simple to use. When testing with a pressure gauge straight out of the output of the pump I got a Maximum of 2150PSI (148 bar) before it trips out the pressure switch. 8l/minute MAX (480l/hr).
