Bronze to Gold replays for this series have been uploaded. If you're a Twitch sub or Patron you can access it in the Replay Packs channel in my Discord channel
Me and my buddy had so much ranked anxiety that it stopped us from playing the game. I found this bronze to gm series and discovered pigs “macro cycle” and shared the series with my buddy. This has changed life for us and now we are actually able to play games and not just insta due to cheese. Appreciate the guides dude. Actually made the game fun for us and it’s a shame it took so long to discover. Keep up the good work dude!
I love to go back to this video, because I'm Gold 1 right now and have been balancing between g2 and g1 mmr (once almost went below to g3), and it really helps to get my mindset back on track. I can say 100% that the most important thing that wins me games is macro cycling. What I've realised after my, lowest point so to say, was that I've completely stopped doing macro cycles. I was building SCV's and army in weird timings, with no real mind put to it. Now when I went back to it and am focusing a lot on having a proper macro cycle, and if needed over-queueing scvs. This really works and helps in 90% of the matchups and unknown builds since I just have too much money and even losing some fights etc. dosn't really bother me if I go back up fast. This series literally made me love SC2, since I'am playing it for like 2-3 months now, and i can sit and spend hours upon hours playing the game. Overall I think that PiG's B2GM is one of the best quides for games of all time!
So glad to hear the macro cycle is helping anchor your play James. It's incredibly satisfying once you get all those rhythms down and can just keep playing the game without being so flustered. I still have to remind myself to slow down and stick to some nice macro cycles once in a while
Dude this part had me laughing so hard. "So we are just going to wall off with a depot, because our opponent is doing what we would classify as some FUCKING JANKY SHIT"
I have been following this series and checked my replays after every game I played using what I learned. My average APM has increased up to over 100 and my mmr has gone up to 2600 very quickly from 2000. This works.
Yeah this happened to me until I finally got the game and hit diamond 3 after about a month. I'm tempted to play it again, these kinds of tutorial series are really nice and they tend to have a nice narrative of concepts that build upon each other.
Just started my StarCraft 2 adventure a week and a half ago. Haven’t played this game since Broodwar. I have been watching your videos at night and trying to take in as much info as I can. After 25 games I am sitting at Gold 1. Going to keep trying, but you are correct - macro has been winning the games alone!
Thank you for this series! You motivated me to try SC2 after 8 years again. This videos are helping a lot to get familiar again! Also… in the past I was so sad when I lose a game. Now with your attitude of „you first have to practise the basics“ and then learn what you can do better after each game, this makes so much fun again. THANK YOU! See you in GM leage 😄
Was Diamond zerg back in the days, now thanks to you I'm getting back into the game as terran. It's hard to spend all those mins and gas but the macro cycle will really help me climb to platinum.
that tank push explanation is brilliant, exactly what I was struggling with as T and yeah, it is extremely annoying to deal with as zerg but I started playing terran and got completely destroyed multiple times by lings + banes lol
I’m a noob so a lot of this is over my head and seems advanced, however I’m still learning a lot and I’m improved quite a bit since I started studying this series. Thx man!
Having enjoyed vibe's Terran playthrough of the online ladder experience (tm), I'm really enjoying seeing the similarities and differences between how pig's and vibe's pedagogical styles.
Yeah it's nice seeing different applications of the same theory, and a few moments throughout this he talks about what he likes about Vibes method and why he chose differently.
Hey PiG, watching your vids gave me the courage to go back into starcraft 2. I don’t know what it is about this game, but losing hits the ego really hard. So, watching your content and learning how to build good habits and respond to various harassments and all in builds has helped me feel much better about playing this game. I was able to stop my first cannon rush today and come back from a multiple time lost economy thanks to your habits. Thank you!
Watched the series and got to gold in like three days played. Not my first time playing the game though, so keep that in mind. This series has been a godsend and THANK GOD I'm not the only one forgetting the damn Ebay xD I know I'm a year late but this series still holds up ^^
Haven't been playing for 6 years. Just by following the build I played the placement matches and got Gold 2, now onwards to hold and increase the rank :D
DUDE!! i just played two matches on the ladder and i have to say that putting things in a "Cycle" helps SO MUCH! before i was just trying to make more shit when i had more money and make supply depots by constantly staring at my supply. with a cycle, i get all of it done at once and dont have to think about it as much at all. for the first time in a think ever, i was able to saturate 3 bases and take a fourth and i saw my money below 100 minerals! feels good to be able to spend the money and max out very quickly!
eyyy glad it's helping! TIme to hop on the ladder and kick some ass I reckon! Remember it might take up to 15 games to figure out exactly where you belong on the ladder so your early games will a wide variety of opponents
2- great tips I learned on this video. #1~ tanks have a minimum range. (I’ve seen Zerg swarm tanks and they can pick a target but never knew that couldn’t shoot that close) #2~ set the rally point past the overseer to push them in your base. Very nice!
Fantastic series PiG, very enjoyable to watch and the way you present the material very intuitive and easy to understand Currently making my way through silver, it has been a huge help since I am only playing less than a month Keep em coming!
The Bronze to Gold League reminds me of Old Clash of Clans. Using Tier 1 armies to climb the ladder was the meta back then and seeing that from Bronze to Silver made me feel confident to try that type of macro. Gold League looks like a comfortable spot for a proper experimentation on which Build Order you want to transition and become flexible over time.
I'm in love with the discard key now. sending some marines to each base as soon as I can has been a gamechanger. I cant cound on my hand how many times I've had Terran players rushing out to build fortresses all over, and when I attack them its already covered with turrets, bungers ans siege tanks :P Obv the issue is me not hitting the build order, but sending out marines are definitly a nice safeguard
Dude. DUDE. This series is soooooo helpful. Exactly what I knew I needed but couldn’t find til now. THANK YOU!!! Maybe this almost 50 yo who’s been a blh since the 90es can finally win some games!
You think after years of watching starcraft I'd learn a thing or 2, but I'm a complete potato when I try to play. Thanks so much for these they've helped me alot.
Suggestion (that I don't have the APM to pull off): when making an SCV wall to guard marines in the mineral line, hit halt, then immediately hit autorepair. You want them non-attacking anyway, and it'll improve survivability.
Great work PiG appreciate all you do. Been watching for about a month now and my game has improved greatly. The way you break it down and (my term) "nerd out" with something your passionate about AKA Starcraft II. It's allowed me to bring some of my own thoughts and styles to the table. I've made a switch to Zerg which you have also helped with immensely. Hope you can continue to bring more players to this game and this genre. RTS games are fantastic and bring so much to the table for players to enjoy. Thank You! GLHF
I started as of 06/07 to transition to the three base micro !!! One day I hope I’m good enough to control units of higher caliber in micro ! I have made progress I just beat a BC timing with 3 base an managed to build both 4 th and 5th ! However the player was salty calling a muppets moron that needed to get a brain . My understanding though I have built a strong spine (skeleton) in order to understand SC2 cause of these bronze to GM videos !! Thanks for taking the time !!
I wanted to transition to the core about 3 years back, when I last played regularly in plat. I couldn't do it because I was to engrained in my (bad) habits. I've decided to come back after 3 years not playing, so I thought "why not". It's been much easier to do this time, as I'm silver at best at the moment, so I can play games AND spend time forcing myself to do it right. BTW the reason I looked a the core is not just because I'm a nerd (guilty!), but also because the right side kekyboard version appears less stressful on my hands. The general optimisation of hand positioning means less stretches. In this case efficient play is also less taxing specifically. I love it already, even though I have plenty of errrrrrrr moments when I realise something like not knowing how to unload a bunker. PS. I also "play sports" and stuff ;)
Probably has something to do with the fact that his opponents die before skytoss can fully come online. He has fought people attempting to skytoss tho (game 2 and 3 of silver for example)
I have been trying to get back into SC2 and really enjoying this. I could never figure out how to take the next step to get better. Been trying to Macro and just had my 5 provisional matches and it dropped me in Gold 3 to start... (Even though I didn't win a single match.) Going to try zerg and protoss as well. Thanks for doing this. AS soon as I can you shall have another supporter
I made it to Masters back in the day and my average APM per game was only 170-180. Now I'm getting back into it (installed 3 days ago after 4 years) and it's like 160. I've just accepted that I'm slow. Slow doesn't mean you can't get better and advance.
Placed master 2 in the ladder, haven’t played this game competitively (only ever did Customs against my brothers and dad) I looked for ways to stop an insanely fast rush but found this series instead!
I somehow placed D3 (4/5) on my first try doing the 2 base push, and most of it was me not willing to give up: - won TvZ because I annoyed the opponent with constant pushing forcing him to surrender even though he had equal economy and 3-3 with ultras to my 0-0 upgrades on tank marine; - hitting timing attacks after defending harass; - not giving up (even though I really wanted to) after realizing opponent will easily outmacro my failed 2 base push on their 3 bases. I doom dropped his main with 4 medievacs and stopped his production which cut of his superior macro. It's actually important to learn how to not let yourself give up too :)
Those glitches are called Artifacts. They're normally associated with video memory overheating. Cap your framerates to the refresh rate of your monitor and request an RMA for your video card.
Ah, the chill soundtrack is the key! The fuckin background music combined with an annoying opponent clumsily trying to play like Maru or Maxpax can tip me over, get me distracted. From now on, chill music!!!!
Hey Mate Again wanted to thank you for these vids, really made my games really a lot more fun and plus im almost out of gold now, I dont know if youre still doing this but I have a couple cool replays where I have followed as much of your advice as possible and had some really awesome games if you would like to see them - dont even know if this sorta thing makes you money or not but its here if you want it :) Loving Pig Casts too, literally on it every day!
Thank you for the video! 3:20 So you are telling that Terran builds like Terran Viking: to fix the "leg" you can strap off his "arm" (at least if you believe the campaig description).
Need a camera on the keyboard... Especially for the first video in this series, or maybe just for one game to see the actual keystrokes. Great video series 👍
wtf playing starcraft since 2-3 days and while downloading watched your video and practicice against ai played today 9 rankes i got 2900 mmr ranked after 5 games and now im bronze 1 and playing against diamond and platin xD i lost the last 4 games xDDD i think i will practice more with your videos realy nice ty!
That guy in game 1 was higher than gold. I am in high gold (not really an accomplishment but like, I know what upper level gold is like) and I have never seen a player with higher than 110 APM, defintiely not a Terran player anyway.
I've had SC2 downloaded for years but was too scared to play it due to the sheer size of what was ahead of me. This series more or less boiled it down to the fundamentals which is what I needed for hotkeys and the like. Idk if I'll ever try ranked but this is a good place to start.
I am slightly impressed with how practical you have made an rts seem. I do have one question, though. You built a dumping key for yourself. I do understand the concept, but I feel like it is wasted apm. You could just steal the previous ctrl group, right? I can see how there could be more demanding scenarios, but you could just go back to the basics and box the units. I feel like us old gamers may have developed a bad habit and just use ctrl groups as a custom hotkey. When they are more useful for specific scenarios. For example, spreading out your army to reduce the effects of AOE. The micro that could be performed with 5 ctrl groups in the moment would be much easier than boxing each individual squad. Idk, I feel like I'm on to something and seeing Serral use the infestors individually in the most recent tournament, I think he might be on the same page. We have developed some lazy habits over the years, but to be fair, we were the first to do it.
It's up to you when you want to use the dumping key vs just stealing on to a different group. The dumping key is specifically for when you DON'T want those units on a different control group. If you're stealing units to defend a drop - you steal onto your standard drop defence hotkey. But if your regular hotkeys are all filled up you throw any units you want to split for special tasks onto separate keys. Control grouping every single thing is actually a big waste of attention and actions - so for instance spotting units on the map should always 100% be dumped. Whilst you can make up your own mind for anything else you want to split from your control groups
@PiGCoaching I just figured instead of dumping your scouting units into a separate key individually that you could just steal the original Ctrl group with the remaining army. It accomplishes the same idea without creating a separate key essentially. Control grouping everything would be time-consuming. I just think that ctrl grouping is an advanced way to command your army. For example, splitting, flanking, or some form of positioning. It could make those moments for micro managing easier compared to boxing units repeatedly. I guess in another word, I would use them to adapt rather than become accustomed to an ideal hotkey. The shift left click to remove units from your current selection was very helpful. I don't know where you learned that from, but that solved a lot of my frustrations.
So I did the build order a bit too slow, failed my first attach wich was a shame, but the guy had a fortress on natural, 4 siege tanks, supply blockers, and turrets. My push failed and he managed to bring in workers on 8 command centers around the map at 10:54 :P thats just wild. Not good strat, but wild.
I sometimes try to get into star craft 2. The tactical side looks really fun. Hearing analysis about a pro match is very interesting. But any time I try to get into the game, I remember that I have to spend a lot of time creating muscle memory for macro cycles, before I have any attention I can spend on micro. And I find that fast paced macro gameplay just kind of boring.
You can get pretty far cheesing. It's not the best method to learn the game but a lot of people do it. At the end of the day it's more important for you to have fun. The benefit is that games are super short because they are mostly won or lost by 5 minutes.
I was in play and everything was going perfectly with the build, then 2 oracles flew into my main while he poked my bay with adepts and by the time I got there every single scv in my main was dead 😂
Pig how do I get better at my barracks wall at my ramp? I still haven’t figured it out and sometimes I’ll leave holes that I don’t notice, or I have to move the barracks at the beginning altogether. It’s a little awkward positioning the barracks correctly to accommodate for the add on and the 2nd depot. On some ramps it’s easier but I noticed in game 6 you knew exactly where to put the rax
Man great info right here. I fall into an issue tho following this build. I seem to lose everytime that I get an early harassement from opponent. Especially with Protoss. Early Immortal rush or Cloaked Templars always end the game early for me. Still playing the unranked matches due to these early harassments. You don't seem to have this issue in your gameplays, how come?
At like one hour or so..... When you left the doors open (SDs) and LET the 18 or whatever zerglings into your main and then took them down.... I was like.... "WTF!!!????"....

Garry and Bruce really got to be a habit for me. I’m literally saying their names building depots.
Get. A life!
I love to go back to this video, because I'm Gold 1 right now and have been balancing between g2 and g1 mmr (once almost went below to g3), and it really helps to get my mindset back on track.

Why do I enjoy watching these Bronze to GM vids so much? I don't even own Starcraft II, let alone play the ladder! 😆
To prepare you for the day you finally decide to install it. Obviously ;)
Yeah this happened to me until I finally got the game and hit diamond 3 after about a month. I'm tempted to play it again, these kinds of tutorial series are really nice and they tend to have a nice narrative of concepts that build upon each other.
this game is just amazing to watch.
guides give you more insights, makes watching more enjoyable.
Sc2 is f2p tho but I guess you know that.
It’s your subconscious telling you that you want to play the game. Join us Evenmoor, join us.
Pretty sure I’ll play this game forever.
Just started my StarCraft 2 adventure a week and a half ago. Haven’t played this game since Broodwar. I have been watching your videos at night and trying to take in as much info as I can. After 25 games I am sitting at Gold 1. Going to keep trying, but you are correct - macro has been winning the games alone!
welcome to sc2!
30:20 "But the thing is, you don't wanna distract yourself too much here..."
[PiG being distracted intensifies]
"...um, and mis-macro too hard."
Addicted to this series PiG, got me back into SC after many years away. Big love dude, great content.
that tank push explanation is brilliant, exactly what I was struggling with as T
and yeah, it is extremely annoying to deal with as zerg but I started playing terran and got completely destroyed multiple times by lings + banes lol
I was able to stop my first cannon rush today and come back from a multiple time lost economy thanks to your habits. Thank you!
Hadn't played in 10 years. This made me try that game again and I enjoy it way more than I ever did before
eyyy welcome back mate! Having a build can be a gamechanger
Watched the series and got to gold in like three days played. Not my first time playing the game though, so keep that in mind. This series has been a godsend and THANK GOD I'm not the only one forgetting the damn Ebay xD
I know I'm a year late but this series still holds up ^^
Its amazing how it’s possible to advance from bronze to Platin with basically one build and macro transition. Great !
2:31:00 this hit out of nowhere. I remember the charity stuff going on. It's nice to hear the boy does well.
Haven't been playing for 6 years. Just by following the build I played the placement matches and got Gold 2, now onwards to hold and increase the rank :D
Welcome back to sc!
DUDE!! i just played two matches on the ladder and i have to say that putting things in a "Cycle" helps SO MUCH! before i was just trying to make more shit when i had more money and make supply depots by constantly staring at my supply. with a cycle, i get all of it done at once and dont have to think about it as much at all. for the first time in a think ever, i was able to saturate 3 bases and take a fourth and i saw my money below 100 minerals! feels good to be able to spend the money and max out very quickly!
with your guide, macro cycle etc, I'm stable at winning expert AI!!
Finally, i started to understand something about this game.
Thank you so much!
eyyy glad it's helping! TIme to hop on the ladder and kick some ass I reckon! Remember it might take up to 15 games to figure out exactly where you belong on the ladder so your early games will a wide variety of opponents
22:48..... The rally to far side and make the Overlord go into your base.... #MindBlown. #LifeChanged.

Pure gold for the community & the game. Also it's so so so enjoyable with the "garry and bruce the depot builders" Thank you for creating this !!
pun intended?
Ah, killing your opponent. The classic desperation move.

Much thanks pig, the series is very helpful. I was able to fight off ling rush, nidus, all by being calm, cool, collected. Clean up, cycle, push.
I wanted to transition to the core about 3 years back, when I last played regularly in plat. I couldn't do it because I was to engrained in my (bad) habits. This is going to get me back in to playing ladder. Thanks.
Game 7 was fantastic, really helps because I struggle so much against TvT when my opponent sieges at home.
I am very surprised you did not meet any skytoss yet. Every single toss in 2v2 at these ranks rushes mass voidrays
Probably has something to do with the fact that his opponents die before skytoss can fully come online. He has fought people attempting to skytoss tho (game 2 and 3 of silver for example)
I have been trying to get back into SC2 and really enjoying this. I could never figure out how to take the next step to get better. Dude that SCV hold move is dope
Placed master 2 in the ladder, haven’t played this game competitively (only ever did Customs against my brothers and dad) I looked for ways to stop an insanely fast rush but found this series instead!
there's a ladder bug that means some people get placed in masters, others in bronze - but the MMR is accurate so focus on that
I watched this and went straight to platinum. Thanks
Great series! So good at calmly explaining the important concepts and mechanics. I’m a gold Terran but I hope this helps me improve!
these videos are extremely helpful, thank you for putting them up! The macro cycle concept is really helping me keep up :)
Thanks for the lessons! I'm stuck on silver.... Time to practise this new build!
gl on the ladder mate!
I somehow placed D3 (4/5) on my first try doing the 2 base push, and most of it was me not willing to give up:
- won TvZ because I annoyed the opponent with constant pushing forcing him to surrender even though he had equal economy and 3-3 with ultras to my 0-0 upgrades on tank marine;
- hitting timing attacks after defending harass;
- not giving up (even though I really wanted to) after realizing opponent will easily outmacro my failed 2 base push on their 3 bases. I doom dropped his main with 4 medievacs and stopped his production which cut of his superior macro.
It's actually important to learn how to not let yourself give up too :)
Need a Bruce and Gary T-Shirt
I decided to install this game thanks to you!
The gold B2GM tips beats D2 players I can confirm 👍
Those glitches are called Artifacts. They're normally associated with video memory overheating. Cap your framerates to the refresh rate of your monitor and request an RMA for your video card.
Thanks bro your tutorials and teachings have helped me find my love for starcraft again.
You are the Bob Ross of StarCraft.
Ah, the chill soundtrack is the key! The fuckin background music combined with an annoying opponent clumsily trying to play like Maru or Maxpax can tip me over, get me distracted. From now on, chill music!!!!
Hey Mate
Again wanted to thank you for these vids, really made my games really a lot more fun and plus im almost out of gold now, I dont know if youre still doing this but I have a couple cool replays where I have followed as much of your advice as possible and had some really awesome games if you would like to see them - dont even know if this sorta thing makes you money or not but its here if you want it :) Loving Pig Casts too, literally on it every day!

Love you Pig. I've learned a lot about StarCraft II from you. A real Pro.
Just started Starcraft 2 and found your channel, thanks for the coaching! My apm is now at a whopping 150 lol
Edit: Max 150 xD
love the rimworld background music
50-34 silver 1 MMR: 2344. Just the 2 base has really helped.
Thank you for everything you do!
L O L! @2:23:07 CLASSIFIED DOCUMENT: "OPERATION JANK SHIT"
Great video! I really want to know how you did the advance move to attack tanks! Please make a video on it! Thanks PiG!
Need a camera on the keyboard... Especially for the first video in this series, or maybe just for one game to see the actual keystrokes. Great video series 👍
The more I watch these videos, the more I think I can play on ladder and the more disappointed I get when I fail placement.
wtf playing starcraft since 2-3 days and while downloading watched your video and practicice against ai played today 9 rankes i got 2900 mmr ranked after 5 games and now im bronze 1 and playing against diamond and platin xD i lost the last 4 games xDDD i think i will practice more with your videos realy nice ty!
One thing I’ve learned - Gary and Bruce are OP.
+1 for rimworld music
Great content got from bronze to gold using this strat realy like the 2 base die trying have my hopes up for the platinum mech type games :)
I wanna see how pig uses ravens to freeze the tanks and then a moves in when the tanks are protected by turrets
2:37:50 That's the reason why "select all army" key is a bad idea :D
Love these videos!
Multi-prong and decent macro isn't unheard of at 2.3k; not super common, but I've definitely come across things similar.
You can tell PiG genuinely feels bad with every victory screen lol
Ah yes, a guide for me, the Chad.
Already in plat 2 great videos
Great info
I sometimes try to get into star craft 2. The tactical side looks really fun. Hearing analysis about a pro match is very interesting.
But any time I try to get into the game, I remember that I have to spend a lot of time creating muscle memory for macro cycles, before I have any attention I can spend on micro. And I find that fast paced macro gameplay just kind of boring.
You can get pretty far cheesing. It's not the best method to learn the game but a lot of people do it.
At the end of the day it's more important for you to have fun.
The benefit is that games are super short because they are mostly won or lost by 5 minutes.
It's worth because you learn how to overcome your emotions, which is useful in life
4:00 Terran build orders are modular like add-ons?
Nice guides, thanks!
Also, what is the music playlist used in these vids?
Would like to listen to it aswell while practising terran.
same question
WIll you please explain the dumping key when you send marines around the map to scout around 1:17:30
Watch vid 1 of the series
Awesome!
Hallo pig thx for that guide. One thing i dont get how u able to see what ur enemy build in his buildings??
I was in play and everything was going perfectly with the build, then 2 oracles flew into my main while he poked my bay with adepts and by the time I got there every single scv in my main was dead 😂
You would be an excellent teacher or professor.
hold position in air deadzone and to not get baited
spreading army and stim a move into tanks
putting single marines in front to tank splash damage
How does he get the medivacs to follow the marines instead of charging ahead when he sends them across the map?
At like one hour or so..... When you left the doors open (SDs) and LET the 18 or whatever zerglings into your main and then took them down.... I was like.... "WTF!!!????"....
