      Seah Altura it’s certainly challenging to control our behaviour when there are long running patterns at play, but it’s not impossible! The person has to be WILLING to change first and foremost because it takes time and practice to overcome old patterns.

    Funny, light, a bit edgy video. Loved it! Already chilled the F* out a bit more :D
    But yeah no, lately I have given up trying to control the things I have no power over and it took like exactly 51% of weight, anxiety and other nasty stuff off the shoulders.
    Like you said, have a plan B, but dont go too far.
    Where did you learn all this stuff?
    Oh and cool name Richter.. like the scale. Your channel will surely make some waves of magnitude soon! :D

      Thank you for tuning in! I learned a lot of it from being WILDLY curious about the human experience for most of my life, ie. listening to people, reading books, podcasts, retreats, etc. and I learned a lot from my coach training through the Coactive Training Institute (www.coactive.com). It's a life long process of learning though. Thank you for the kind words!

    Thank you for posting this video. It was recently brought to my attention that I might have control issues by my coworkers. So the ceniario of being a manager is to delegate that is in the best interest of the company and not ones self. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I am told that asking others not to do things a certain way is considered controlling. I understand that people need to learn from their own failures but when they don't learn and one tries to give them guidance, is that considered controlling? I want to be a better leader and when I'm told I'm controlling it hurt. I been looking online and reading and educating myself about it and I do admit I have some traits that would label me as controlling and would like to learn more. I feel I have entered my second half af life as Richard Rohr states in his book Falling upward, but for a person in a leadership role, what is the line of managing and being controlling?

    • @MischaelaRichter
      @MischaelaRichter  Рік тому +1

      The phrase 'ask don't tell' comes to mind here. Do you know why your team members aren't doing what is asked of them? What is getting in their way? The more questions we ask, the more information we gather that helps us understand the other person's perspective. This will give you valuable info to use in tailoring your leadership of them. People don't respond well to authoritarianism. People want to be seen, heard and understood. Then they will be more likely to show up fully in their role.
      Does this land? What does this bring up for you?

    • @samsleem7103
      @samsleem7103 Рік тому

      @@MischaelaRichter Thank you for replying back to my comment. This does land for me yes. What does it bring up for me you ask, well it brings up a very defensive side of me that I try to keep in check from reacting impulsively. It has taken a lot of work and time on my part to get to where i am today mentally and spiritually. I still have a long way to go. The work never stops. But back to the topic at hand, yes, I am aware of why team members are not doing their part and what is getting in their way. The environment is a very social atmosphere and a lot of the times people do not care to take responsibility for their actions or want to go into a victimized state of mind. In saying that we pride ourselves in caring about one another and we are very family oriented. And unfortunately, some take advantage of the kindness and hide behind it. Asking and not telling is something that I always try to be conscious of. I ask the questions that will hopefully lead him or her to their own conclusions of what we are trying to accomplish. Asking questions and being curious has sometimes backfired. Maybe i need to choose my questions more carefully and thoughtfully.
