  • This time I am reviewing an old macro lens from the Olympus OM systems back in the 80s. It has the ability to reproduce 1:2 on the image sensor, therefore not quite what we nowadays regard as a real macro lens (that should be at least 1:1 reproduction), but I still think this is a very nice lens for everyday shooting. Another thing about macro lenses is, that they almost always are pretty sharp, so how did this lens perform in this regard?

    I have been planning to buy a Fuji GFX, but suddenly I saw a Hassy X1D with a 45/3.5 for a nice price. I should have bought it. If I had seen your page before, I wouldn't hesitate. I'm like you, I have a ton of good vintage lenses, maybe five T&S lenses and lots of Zuiko stuff as an OM-3Ti shooter. No, I'm following you, to see your next test-object.

      Well there will be much to watch, as I have a lot of vintage planned for review, both not so old Canon EF lenses, but also a load of no brand lenses and lenses from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

    And remember this is how the lens performs on a 100mp digital medium format sensor, the absolute extremes. Not bad at all for $100 optic!!

      Sorry for the late answer. This is exactly what fascinates me, that vintage lenses can give this nice images and stunning image quality.

    very nice. My "other" camera, as well as the X2D, is a Nikon Z mount, and the new Z lenses are all excellent. I wish you could find some way to mount a Z lens onto the X2D. The problem is the Z lens has a very short throw...the distance from the lens to the z camera sensor. It will need a custom adaptor. Nikon F adaptor is available, but the Z would be fantastic!

      That is going to be difficult and will probably not yield good results, as it will require glass elements. The flange distance of Nikon Z is only 16mm and thus smaller than Hasselblads 18.14mm. In general adapting from full frame mirrorless to Hasselblad will probably not be supported by the traditional brands like K&H, TTartisans, 7artisans, and Viltrox.

    Thanks for the video. Do you have any further info on the “no brand” adapter? How did you obtain it? I have a few Zuiko lenses I’d like to try - especially 28mm shift :-)

      I'm preparing a video on my very extensive adapter setup, as I have adapters for 11 different mounts. But the Olympus was adapted using a Leica M to Hasselblad adapter from 7Artisans on top of which I mounted a Olympus to Leica M adapter from Techart (Techart LM-EA7).

    May I ask sir.
    About M43 lens 50mm on medium format equivalent ??

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure  8 днів тому +1

      Depends on the size of medium format, which is not a fixed standard. Converting to Hasselblad X1D/X2D it would correspond to a 125mm on the Hasselblad.

      @@key2adventure Thank you for taking the time to reply.
      the same lens is used on so so different size Image sensors.curious.
      M43 lens on a medium format sensor,
      will the image circle cover the entire sensor?
      the same lens is used on different Image sensors.
      Here is no adapter ring yet for OLYMPUS 75mm/1.8 lens on medium format.
