Fujifilm S2500HD superzoom / bridge camera - is it good for documenting a trip to Ararat?
I have used a lot of different superzoom cameras, also named bridge cameras, during the past years. One of the smallest of these is the Fujifilm S2500HD, that I took on a spin during a trip to Mount Ararat as leader of a group climbing the mountain.
Could this camera from 2010 with its small 1/2.3” sensor and 12 megapixel resolution make decent images, now that we are used to cameras with full frame sensor and resolution of 30, 40, or even more? I explore this in this video.

A Box of digital compact cameras - episode 5 Ricoh HZ15
Переглядів 60День тому
As followers of my channel know, I like experimenting with different odd cameras, and as I got a box of older digital compact point&shoot cameras for free, I though it could be fun to see if there was anything to like on these somewhat outdated cameras. The box contained 6 cameras (actually 7, but two of which are identical), and I will be reviewing all of them here on my channel - if they don’...

Earlier on this channel I have reviewed my Fujifilm Finepix S1, a superzoom camera with a small sensor, that definitely was challenged in some situations, though I liked that camera a lot despite some obvious flaws. In this review I look at the much more modern and capable Sony RX10 mark IV, which also has a much larger 1” sensor compared to the 1/2.3” sensor of the Fuji camera. This is in many...

Best buy entry level DSLR? I review the Canon 1300D and wonder if this a best buy on the used market

Yes they have become very cheap, you get a lot of camera for your money, though it requires you kept some lenses. They are still rather expensive, as they can be easily used on the newer cameras with an inexpensive adapter, and they still perform very well.

The camera was originally sold with a not very good kit lens. I put a Tamron wide angle on mine. Super nice camera, extensive controls. Always carry a spare battery, it likes them. Very quiet.

Agree that the original kit lens wasn't very good. I bought a different zoom lens from Sony, don't remember the exact one, but it was much better. Now I have 6 different lenses, that are all very good - both Sony and Sigma lenses. I even use them with an adapter on my A7R, as most of them covers full frame 🙂

Thank you for your concise and thorough review. I'm trying to decide whether to buy the X1D mark II or X2D and sell my Leica SL2. Any thoughts you could provide would be appreciated. I have enjoyed my Leica and other Leicas for years and photograph mainly people, landscapes and travel. I have always liked the aesthetics of both systems.

    • @key2adventure
      @key2adventure 4 дні тому

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I have never shot Leica, so I can't provide any useful information regarding the differences in these systems. But I would say, that for people and travel the considerably faster X2D and the build-in IBIS makes quite a difference. Depending on your need for resolution, the extra 50 mpix on the X2D could also make a difference for landscapes, although it would only be visible on really large prints. I do 50x70 from the X1D II and they are very, very detailed and sharp.

Depends on the size of medium format, which is not a fixed standard. Converting to Hasselblad X1D/X2D it would correspond to a 125mm on the Hasselblad.

Hi - thanks, the videos are great. I got the TCX-01 yesterday and was able to take photos on my X2D through a 24-105 Canon lens (with massive vignetting!) but no autofocus or anything beyond simple manual focus. I also tried a Sigma 150-600 lens which was like carrying a rocket launcher it was so heavy. I don't know how much a rocket launcher weighs. Same result. It worked but no autofocus. So I upgraded the firmware using your video - it worked fine, a new MacBook Pro and a little USB-C to mini USB cable from Faster (on Amazon). I updated to version 8 and it's bricked my lenses for the X2D with a "lens initializing" message that won't clear up. I downgraded to version 7 but same result. Reading through comments - I'm okay with going back to whatever original settings with only manual focus - but what version did the mount ship with? I've also tried a Sigma 100-400 lens and same thing.

Sounds very strange. I haven't experienced this behaviour from my lenses. Are you sure you let the upgrade finish. It is a bit difficult to see, what it is actually doing? Maybe try downgrading one version at the time, version 6, 5, 4 ... until it might work again.

Great Video! Thank you. Have an F100 too with several Ais and G lenses. I also use it with the grip, loaded with Lithium batteries: Soooo light weight! Such a fine piece of film equipment!

Glad you liked my video. I still think it's one of the best SLRs ever made.

Thanks for your work! I‘m considering to purchase this objective on a Panasonic Lumix G81. I‘m a beginner and that would be a relatively cheap start. The pics you took look amazing to me.

Remember, you need the adapter as well as it is a 4/3 lens not a Micro 4/3

Actually, Photography Online had a test of 5DSR against D850, and their conclusion was that they were both very good and there was no winner. I haven't tried the D850 myself, so I can't tell.

I haven't tried the D850, but Photography Online reviewed it against the 5DSR and called it a draw.
