  • Showing the AC system on ford ranger 1996 2.3L. It was leaking and needed some new hose and connectors. this is how the pain in the butt spring lock connectors work and the compressor, accumulator, etc.

Excellent overview of the Ranger A/C system and good job explaining the components and what you did. Videos like this help a non-mechanically trained as well as a mechanically trained person to see what's involved in this vehicles system and aids in troubleshooting. Thanks for taking the time. I drive a Ford Ranger and I was able to understand why my truck is acting up due to the contents of this posted video. Keep up the good work.

Very informative! No one ever shows in detail or shows how it works

wrhare1- sounds like your leak is coming from the evaporator. My mechanic just found mine by injecting dye and looking at the condensation that was coming from that area and dripping onto the floor. It was glowing green under his light. Took a while for it start dripping and make a puddle. So I finally know where my leak is coming from.

I have no ac system on my 96 ranger 4.0 V6 manual transmission but this is really useful since I'm in the process of buying the complete system

compressor output is high pressure vapor not liquid. FYI Condenser changes it to liquid.

the high side fitting can be replaced separately. A lot of parts stores do no carry the ford fitting but I found them at Napa for about $8.

I'm putting A/C in my 95 Ranger 2.3L w/ manual transmission. I got all the parts from a junkyard but I will buy some new ones like the accumulator and hoses, but I have one problem. I don't have a wiring hook up for the compressor clutch nor the hookup for the electrical connector on the high pressure side.

Is the receiving dryer supposed to sweat after you recharged it and run it for 20 minutes?

where did you get the high side valve replacement? I'm working on the exact same truck and the high side valve blew.

Do those kits have the o rings that go where the lines connected to the compressor or do you have to buy those 2 separate? And how much should the system be vaccumed down before you charge it? 🤔

if you can take a quick picture i would appreciated
    thanks

What is that ball thing that's kinda below the drier but a little forward that connects to the vaccum lines used for? I know on the 94 model they had a cylinder that sat above the evaporator box. And isn't the drier useless once removed? I've heard that once the drier is introduced to oxygen it goes bad.

How many lines total? Is the evaporator outside?

As clear as mud. If you are going to do a how to video it should show the novice how to do the task.

you are very dangerous with tools first of all you don't know how to cut, and you don't know how to drill. first when you start drilling plastic use slow speed and when you are cutting never put hand front of the knife
