Day 29 of 50 Stoic. School with the author of The Everyday Stoic
Todays lesson.
Russian Mafia boss says Stoicism is making men weak!
I am William Mulligan 'The Everyday Stoic' and author of the everyday Stoic simple rules for a good life. I hope this video can help you.
Years of studying Buddhism before reading any stoic literature except Plato helps me see that pain can be accepted without defeat, and you can be an active participant in life not a puppet whose strings are pulled by external circumstances.
The suffering or pain like Buddha’s 84th problem parable are merely lessons. Step outside of the emotion and understand the lesson for what it is. :)
It's your reaction to the circumstance that matters. Thanks William ❤
Greetings from Belgium. I myself can prove the opposite, because Stoism has made me stronger and more resilient in difficult situations, and yes, it didn't made me less carring towards people, because: "The shortest distance between two people is a smile." Victor Borge
'Pain is necessary, suffering is a choice.' - I've found this to be a fundamental truth. *A.
Discomfort creates motivation for growth!
Hi William, you should read "Vinland Saga". This manga has a very powerful story and a lot of stoicism inside.
Respect from Italy. 💪
Hello, thank you for the suggestion. I’ll give it a go.
14:16 He probably doesn't know that much about stoicism. He is not even a Russian. He is an actor from Finland named Andrej Kaminsky. Probably everything he says is written. If you look closely his eyes it seems he reads from something. I think it's not his channel. He get paid to do the job as an actor.
Funny...
They are using that Russian Mobster persona for views and most people talking about faceless channels like there is a bad thing are just afraid of competition. Most tips there are valid even if some of them are made with AI plus those channels makes you wanna look further into the philosophy and are recommending you to get the books, Meditation, Enchiridion etc.
Actually I discovered Stoicism for what people consider the wrong reason and that lead me to learning more. You have a good point
I cry bull 💩
would to react to old Norse and Anglo-Saxon wisdom by redfrost motivation?
Hello there, Nice to see your content you are really doing well❤. I am a video editor but here I notice video editing part video editing can convert your content to Next Level and Viral if your videos look attractive then you can get huge engagement and convert your revenue/channel growth 5x more. I also do Thumbnails design, Video SEO and I am a video editor. If your say then I will do for it with 100% satisfaction, its not video editing it about telling a story about your self business or may be the world around in today's everyone try to tell there own story but sometimes words are not enough and the come video editing and I am also able to provide a editing trial or sample🎬can I?
I'm catholic and I don't agree at all with his critique of stoicism. Of course I think some teachings of stoicism are wrong, but that's far from saying or proving it is "the problem" in modern society. The problem in our society is hedonism and post-modernism.
Look closer to his eyes. He just reading someones text
Likely his own text. It’s a common practice for podcasters who give lengthy dialogue to write it out ahead of time in order to stay on topic.
@@TheDivisiveNature There's a few red flags with this video for me. He is portrayed as an ex Russian gangster and the video uses imagery to support this, ie pictures of his hands with the tattoos and the ring, also using the term Stuki, which as far as I can find out, is a Russian term for traitor and again is apparently common in the Russian underworld. The gentleman in the video isn't an ex Russian gangster though, he is an actor called Andrej Kaminsky and at the best, this is disingenuous and at the worst, a deliberate fabrication to mislead. He may have written this himself but someone banging on about honour and labelling others as traitors and liars, whilst not living to those standards themselves, is a pass for me.
@@NickParadigmThis is from a movie…
@@TheDivisiveNature is it? I thought it was a UA-cam channel called Grim Hustle.
@@NickParadigm No. you’re right. There was a Russian gangster movie that was used for similar videos, I mistook this for that. My apologies.
