  • This is a timelapse video with commentary on the process behind this 2D + 3D artwork done with Blender and grease pencil!
This is the second week I'm getting back to Blender and Grease pencil; slowly, I want to explore the tool to better grasp all its possibilities, especially for 2D animation production.
I will try to be constant and keep uploading videos weekly! Wish me luck!

I have a problem. Does anyone know why the pencil stroke appears only after releasing the mouse? I can´t see it as I draw the line.

I don’t know what it could be, but it sounds like previewing the strokes in real-time (while you’re drawing) may require computer power that you don’t have? Check if your specs are the best for blender and grease pencil, also you could change some settings to help it, using gpu instead of cpu etc, etc. maybe in a blender forum someone asked the same question too! Good luck!

I find the reason that "points fly into the air" 5:00 (for me) is that when I am using the Surface stroke placement option while drawing using grease pencil, it thinks that the wire outline for lights and empty objects are a surface they need to project the stroke onto. I like to disable "Extras" in the Viewport overlay panel while drawing.

Wonderful work - I am more int he area of product rendering but recently started to look into animating products / spaces as toons.

Thank you! Ohh if you already render realistically, my guess is toon will go swiftly!
