LightCut - DJI's Officially Recommended Video Editor
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 чер 2024
- In this video, we are taking a look at some free drone video editing software called LightCut. This video editor is unique in the fact that DJI is officially recommending to use this editor with their drones and cameras such as the Action 2 and the Osmo Action 3. One of the main features of this video editing software is you can connect wirelessly to the DJI Mavic 3 series or the DJI Mini 3 Series drones and get real-time previews of the footage on the memory card, edit, and export without having to copy the footage over to your smartphone first, saving you a lot of time and storage space. This video editing software is AI-driven and can allow you to edit interesting clips with your drone footage for social media with just a few taps. In this video, I give a basic overview and tutorial of the LightCut app, how to use it, and how to connect to your DJI products.

Thank you! Our family bought our first drone and action camera (Mavic Mini and Action 3). Been loving them, and will definitely download this editing app. Your tutorials are so helpful. 🙏
Awesome I’m glad you enjoyed it
it's crazy that this app is for free... absolutely love it
me too. one of the many reasons why i bought osmo action 4. Love it and love the app
I wish this editor was on PC too since I like it but for big stuff I am limited by storage space on my device so PC would be great!
Nice tutorial. I have a lot of video clips I’d like to edit together and share online but just get lazy knowing I have to import it all and sit down at the computer. This app looks pretty intuitive and easy to use on the phone. 👌🏻
Everything brilliantly explained! Made a clip within minutes of watching your tutorial.
Thank you for this tutorial, Shawn! This will be handy for publishing direct to social media from the field.
I've been messing around this app as well. And I find it very useful for short clips. Great demo Shawn, I picked up a few tricks. Thanks for sharing.
Just did my first video with light cut AMAZING im not that savy with this stuff but you guys have made it easy and the video is so helpful.🤩🤩
Thank you one of the best tutorials I’ve seen!
Been using the app for a while but you’ve provided a couple of extra tips I was unaware of 👍🏻
This is a wonderful tutorial. You have a clear presentation style. I'm on vacation and shooting a lot and needed to edit my clips. I didn't realize how capable Light Cut was and the advantage of connecting to the drone directly. Thank you for the inspiraiton.
this is like fifth video by you that I am watching while charging my batteries for my new mini 3 (which I bought based on your video lol).. Great app, easy to use! Learned some new tricks
This is perfect for a quick short for the mini 3s vertical abilities. Make a quick short after landing and edit the ‘proper’ footage at home on the computer. Ideal.
On what progam you edit it at home?
I just got this and it’s so easy to use and makes newbies like me look good.
Looks like a great way to edit your footage while on the go thank you for taking the time and share this tutorial Cheers.
It seems exactly like Capcut but with the ability to edit straight from the drone, I'll definitely try this out, thanks Sean and have a happy St. Patrick's Day ☘️
Thank you very much for this Sean. I have been editing on the iPad, using iMovie, after pulling in all those huge 4k files, and laboriously sifting through and reviewing section after section, doing what limited editing is available. Though I see the ‘cookie-cutter’ argument, this is nothing short of miraculous, for when you are out and about flying and shooting all day, and just wanting to send a quick edit to friends and family, showing them what you were up to. I am for sure converting to LightCut as soon as I have downloaded the app. This just made my month, thank you.
Mine doesnt have the option to export into 4k, how about you? I’m on iPad Pro 11”
Like you, I have used iMovie for more than 560 videos on MacBook and while I actually enjoy the process (cutting to the beat of the music is a favourite!) it does take time. How have you found it it? The issue I can see is that the music will bring up copyright strikes when I upload to UA-cam. 😞However I suppose I can delete the music and substitute a similar tempo from YT library. It certainly sounds good to me so I will download it now onto my iPhone. It will be useful especially on holidaay abroad when I don't bring my MacBook Pro but often bring the iPad. Sean is fanastic isn't he? I've watched a number of his already for Mini 3 Pro. Excellent, calm and clear.
what are you talking about? this doesn't have 4k option. it is lame. I prefer youcut. it is the best free app you can get.
Thanks for this interesting tutorial. Immediately installed....
Such a great content, very precise and in-depth. Thank you... a lot ! ✋🙂
I honestly enjoyed and learnt a lot from your video.
Thank you for the brilliant presentation.
Thanks for this sir. Haven't tried it yet but it's strange that the description for the app in the Google Play store mentions nothing about being able to read directly from certain DJI devices. Not doubting that the feature exist as you demonstrated it in the vid. It's a stand out feature that seperates it from the other mobile video editing apps out there particularly for DJI users. Also I'm sure it works on Android tablets..I'll let you know
Great video ..this a easy to use app with great results worth trying …thanks for bringing it to the attention of others in our hobby…
Thanks for this. Me and my wife have found it very helpful.
Really useful and helpful tutorial. Thank you
SUPER HELPFUL. THANK YOU!
Thank you Shawn! Another very helpful tutorial.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I am looking for! 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Great I’m glad you enjoyed it
Excellent! thank you so much, very good tutorial. Cheers.
Great video, just trying to develop a few skills in moto vlogging having invested in an Action 3 and DJI mic, this will be so helpful as my editing skills are at an early stage😉
The APP UI looks very refreshing and clean!
Thanks for this I have this issue, yet to try but will do today! Great videos!
Glad it helped!
Brilliant tutorial! I hardly ever leave comments but this was such a good video! Thank you so much, so helpful and clearly explained✨
Not yet done any drone videos as new to this, but have to say the clips with the train and the fast music was really cool. really added that feeling of running or getting away in a hurry, well i think so lol
Nive video thank you
Glad I found you dude, great tutorial. Thank you.
Glad to hear it!
WOW, that's Fantastic, Thank You.
I'd love to see an updated tips video for using with Osmo pocket 3 and action 4 :)
You are a natural. Voice is clear and easy to the ears. Looking forward to more. Subscribed.
Wow, thank you!
Thanks, I think I’ll give this a try
Much appreciated very helpful nice one 👍
Cheers so much Sean just came across this by accident 😊
Thinking of getting the new Pocket 3 next year and using this
Game changing features
DJI outdoing the competition
Thanks for the tutorial as well so ewsy to follow ❤
Indeed, pocket 3 is incredible. DJI has a wonderful lineup right now to suit any need and budget
Thanks for another great video. learning a lot!
Glad to hear it!
Your videos always help ty bro👍👍
Glad to hear that
Definitely great for me thanks Sean 😁👌👍🇬🇧
👍
Thank you for the content will give it a try 👍
Excellent video sir. No fluff, just good content 👍
Hi Sean. Thanks for the tutorial. I feel like there is room for another 3 tutorials on this software. I wanted to add some voice over recorded on the micro sd in DJI controller via lark. I have subscribed if you do. 👍👍👍
Great tutorial - thanks for sharing this 👌
What a great app, thanks for the video
Much thanks from a newbee with a Mavic 3.
Your one of the best! and your canadian. Thank you.
Wow, thanks!
Great info!!😎
I've been having so many issues with the Lightcut app not allowing me to select my Action 4's footage. Your cellular data toggle hack helped me fix this and successfully export a video using the One-Tap Edit feature. Thank you!! I was going crazy thinking the app just was never going to allow me to use the AI edit feature. If you'd be willing to, please make a video about your experience with this cell data bug during device import in the Lightcut app. Doesn't have to be an official fix; just your experience and demonstration. There's so many people out there with this issue, and support threads on DJI or Reddit aren't offering any solution. Cheers!!!
What a great video! Thank you sooooooooooo much!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I never hit the subscribe button so fast keep up the great work
Thank you very much and welcome aboard
It was very helpful ! .
This looks like really interesting software, which you demonstrated and explained very well. My problem with this is that the drone needs to be switched on while editing, This will obviously deplete the battery or if it can be edited whilst the drone is connected to a power source, it will likely overheat and turn itself off.
Yes my drone seems to get quite warm when it is powered on sitting on my desk...
Keep a fan blowing on the drone when you have it powered on & not in the air. I also like to do it when I’m charging the battery in the drone.
Useful tutorial amazing app👌I made my Dji Osmo action 3 videos Thanks to you playing with the spp 🙏 Subscribed👍
Thanks for the sub!
Thank you so much.. I'm new drone photography/filming/editing..etc. I recently purchased the mini 3 fly more como so finding your channel is a blessing.. ty. I was wondering if you may know what the theme and song the AI originally chose for your video clips here?
Good tutorial and video Shaun
Thanks 👍
Great video. Thank you.
Thank you too!
Thank you for this video! So helpful. I have 1 question though, is there a way to change the default folder for Lightcut? I use my tablet to fly my drone and while I have plenty of space on my SD card I don't have much on the internal where Lightcut seems to want to put everything. I've searched online but no luck.
I love it
Great👌 thx
Great video, very easy to follow. Unfortunately I cannot edit directly from my mini3 pro, I can view the files, but the program is then permanently stuck on the analysing files at 0%. works fine when dowloaded to my phone, any suggestions? thanks again for the video, I will keep refering to it on my travels
its most detailed and unique tutorial about DJI Mimo Excellent However my question is Can I connect it and use it with Dji MO5 Gimbal ??
Used this yesterday for the first time yesterday and boy was I happy it auto corrected the landscape format to the vertical format. On the pocket 3 I thought I was shooting in Vertical mode but turned out it was Horizontal.
How do you achieve this? If I select videos in landscape format and go to one tap edit, it generates a 16:9 video, if I change it then to 9:16 I just get the zoomed out version?
I have no idea. It did it automatically. It gave me exactly what I saw on the small screen when I was recording. It gave me exactly what I saw in the viewfinder.
So you also selected landscape videos? Maybe the difference is that I am using the mini 4 pro for filming.@@ChiRat22
Oh that might be it. Im was using the osmo pocket 3
Nice thank you
Omg thos is a perfect editing software for me thank you thank you for introducing this to us!!!!!
It has gotten even better since this video was made. They’ve made a lot of improvements and added a lot of new features.
@@AirPhotography I downloaded last night made a vodeo in like 2 min and it was awesome can't wait to create my own it's so easy and has so many features!!!!
Stellar video as always!! Looks very similar to the CapCut editing program?
I've already been using it for a while
Thanks for very instructive video. I have few questions: 1. Can you increase the duration of the clip once you use One Tap option (I didn't find it :( ) 2. Initially AI makes quite a good thing to synchronize music beats with clip changes, but once you reorganize the clips (change their order), it gets out of sync - is there any recommendation how to sync it again?
Well done Shawn! Cool stuff..
Mikey
Thanks Mikey
Thanks for this, good review. I had high hopes but on connecting the drone and selecting any of my videos, it displays 'editing 4k videos not supported'. I am on Android.
That bit at the end about there not being a native iPad version means I’ll wait to use this app.
Yes, it is unfortunate. Hopefully one does come along.
Hi i watched this looks great, i only have DJi Action ( the 1st one ) what would you recommend, as uploading to the phone takes an age
Great video. Thanks. I’ve just bought my first dji. It’s Action 4 which swaps my GoPro 8. My two questions are:
1. What is bettet D Log or Normal colour for Light Cut editing?
2. Is there a film time limit that is possible to create in Light Cut?
First of all, thank you so much for putting up this video. It was very well done. A quick question....... I download the video from my drones, Pocket 2 and Pocket 3 onto my 4Tb hard drive. My phone has no available space to put any of my 4k videos on. How would I get saved files from my hard drive into LightCut ?
Appreciate your help.
Nice tutorial Shawn!
Problem.
When I start a new project, the last project I did appears, with no option to get rid of it and start another....ideas?
Great app, thank you so much.
A quick question the music from LightCut isn’t giving copyright issues? For UA-cam?
Cool 😎😎
Great video!
Can I add my own music or do I have to use the pre-selected?
I really appreciate that vedio I'm new to the editing and this will help alot thanks. I guess it will work with the mavic 3 classic also?
Thank you very much and yes, indeed it’ll work with all versions of Mavic 3
I have moved from DaVinci Resolve and replaced it with CapCut, but rather than move from that, I will add this to the learning curve since it seems to be a bit easier for basic editing.
great explanation, keep it up, i wonder if we can edit on an android tabet
Can you add recorded voice to the videos? SO if you have the DJI mic can you import voice recordings?
Didn’t know this exist going to download on my iPad
What video editor you use to slit the screen in 3 o 4 different videos? Thanks!
Amazing video. Can lightcut download photos manually from an sd card? As in through a connect directly to an iPhone?
Nice tutorial 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Those train clips look fantastic. Is that Mini 3 footage? No! Or is it Mavic 3 or better? This reminds me a lot of the DJI Fly and/or the Go4 app editors. It looks a little better though. So are these music tracks Copyright Free?
Loved the video but I have one question... how'd you get your apple pencil to work with your iphone.
When you did the Export, did it save to the M3P's card? Cool video, thank you.
It saves to the phone.
Hi Shaun, is it possible to merge the voice recording from mini 3 pro screen recordings.
Nice tutorial video, thank you. Now tell us - which do you prefer DJI LightCut or LumaFusion?
Both! Most the time for full length videos I use luma fusion. But this is a fun little editor for quick little edits.
I'm new to all of this but learning. Thanks for all your help. Question when I create a new video, edit it on dji app. It turns out nice. I try to send to someone via text message and it looks pixelated. Any suggestions?
Thank u
there is an iPhone setting to send original footage or it will compress. But at the size of video, doubt it will send original resolution.
Great tutorial. I've been playing with the app, is there any way to make the AI make a longer final video? When selecting 10-15 mins of clips it always outputs a a 20-30s clip
I was wondering the same thing 🤔
Looking for the same thing
Tap on the clip so you see 2 whit bars 1 each sidr and stretch.
How do you stop the drone from overheating while you do the work? Just having the drone on it gets super hot.
Great video, but one but, if the drone is powered on but props are not on, the drone Will get hot and burn Precious batterij as Well. So long edits are going to gett hard straight out of the drone. Would An external Care reader not solve all these issues? Any recommendations? 😊
Thankyou - great video! have been playing with this app and its’ pretty cool. the one thing I find frustrating is that if i use 1 tap edit and a template ( eg Verses from Nature) then it seems to embed that title ( “Verses from Nature”) and I cant edit the wording of the template to something different. Any workaround or tips?
I'm interested in that too. I have found that with some templates the title of the subtitles can be changed (if it is green). If it's orange, it's not.
For example, the template "Aerial-Nature" can be renamed without problems.
But with your mentioned "Verses from Nature" it is not possible.
Which is a great shame!
I will also be very grateful for your help. Peter
Would have been great if this software was available for PC
Editing straight from a action 3, how fast does that work?
Do you than work with low resolution material, and when rendering it takes the high resolution?
Sounds like a great feature to edit on the road.
Bought a action 3 and editing with footage straight of the cam works perfect 👍🏼👍🏼
