One of the best repair videos I have ever seen. Ever! Great camera, voice, and directions. You saved me a lot of money by allowing me to DIY a broken gimbal arm. Thanks so much.
Thank you very much, your tutorial helped me a lot, you have a beautiful voice and you are very beautiful, now I am your fan, God bless you now and always amen! :) 🤝🏻
Hi Anita, this is the best gimbal repair video I have found and I have tried/seen a few. Perfect explanation, clear voice and everything is visible in the frame.
Thank you so much for your 2 great videos. Using these I was able to repair my broken gimbal ribbon cable at cost of about $24. I had a quote from a repair place and they were going to charge me $1000...$600 of which was to replace the whole gimbal & camera....what a waste that would have been! You saved me a lot of money! The dismantling wasn't too hard, but putting in the new cable and reassembling was a bit stressful. Thanks
Chris Dunmill Hi, I'm so glad this video helped get you back in the air at a great price. That quote is absolutely ridiculous 😨 very good job Chris! Happy flying!
Anita actually did the repair on my Phantom 4 pro, not crash related, software related. She knocked it out of the park. Very serious service related person and quite competent as well.
Probably the best video I've seen on replacing the ribbon and video cables. Outstanding job- very calm, great camera work, excellent lighting and audio. Because of your video, I feel I'm ready to install the two new cables; though I'll likely use your video while I'm reassembling. Your work saved me most of $250. Thank you very much!
I hardly ever comment on stuff but I'm going to comment here. *Outstanding* video ... pretty much perfection really. What an impressive technician she is. Thank you.
sorry to be so off topic but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost the password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
@Kieran Braylon Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
This is great. My mavic malfunctioned during a practice flight today - upon take off the obstacle avoidance warning came on and the drone took off full speed before i even touched the sticks. Went straight toward a wooden post, I tried to veer it away but the sticks did nothing. Hit the post and the vibration plate snapped off where it connects to the gimble, and the part of the ribbon cable that connects there tore. Everything else seems to be functional. Glad to know I will be able to fix this relatively cheaply myself and not have to deal with sending it in to DJI or buying a new drone.
Soooooo helpful I crashed my mavic about 2 weeks after i just bought it took it in to DJI and spent 350 on the camera so you can imagine how i felt the second time i crash it and destoryed my camera, but this time i listen to your advice n wahla im back up and flying THANKS A MILLION (matter fact thanks a 350) and i only spent 25 dollars on the parts i needed (gimbal ribbon and vibration plate off amazon)
You are amazing, I love you. Crushed my drone and fixed it using your perfect and clear instructions. I feel like an expert because of you. Thank you thank you thank you.
Thanks a lot for making this video. It made replacing my broken ribbon cable relatively painless! It only took me about an hour from start to finish and the gimbal works perfectly!
Thanks for this video! Successfully replaced my ribbon cable. Please consider making a video of this process as you need to fold and insert the cable in the right order to get it right. Your description was useful but did not mention how to solve the puzzle! :)
i have broken my gimbal cables. i asked technician but he is asking much money for fixing it. now i wanna thank you to make me able an encourage to doing it my self. i will comment again when i will be fix it, thank you
Great instructions. I am just curious. Is it possible to remove the gimbal & the camera for using on another kind of drone/platform? I guess if we know the wiring diagram of those ribbon cables then it may be possible. But how do we know that? Thank you for the information.
thank you. after watching 20 of these stupid videos, youre the first to show the bands removal. I forgot how to put them back on and searched for a video with them in the right position. thanks for including that liked and subbed
What a great video - I've watched both your videos. You're great at showing exactly what to do. I'm hoping you'll do more! I don't need to do repairs at this time, but I'll know where to come if I do. Thx again...
Best video you can find across the net on mavic drone fixing. I have a question here: i replaced my ribbon cable and the cable caught in smoke (with some flames) as soon as I turned on the drone. Now I don`t have the video feed either. Where could be wrong here? Thank you so much!
Good video. I wanted to ask. I am having problems with I think the gimbal motor screw. It appears like there is a wobble in the plate where the screw is in but I cannot screw it tight. Is there a video on pulling the motor apart to see if is engages properly. I have gimbal overload error. 1/. The gimbal board needs replacing as I have identified this as a definite problem. 2/ with a working gimbal board the gimbal still gives an error. The ribbon has been replaced but I am thing it;s possibly the motor on the arm I was referring to. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.
I don't have the same screw heads you have on the demo here. Thankfully i have the correct drivers to take mine apart. Thank you for the video. I have a repair i need to make and this video will help :)
hi, very informative video, i was also hoping for you to disassemble the camera, theres fog inside the front glass of the lens in my mavic everytime i fly it, is there a way to disassmble it or atleast remove the front glass so i can clean it?
Hi, love your video's. Can you tell me where oh where do you get the wire covers and screw's and camera screw's for a bare bone gimbal with just the flex cable installed.
Those rubber vibration dampers aren't the easiest to get back on, even with tweezers. Took me almost 45 minutes for just one of them, but then, at my age (in my mid-60s), my hands and fingers aren't as steady as they used to be. My Mavic Pro flies (and does it well), but I get no video feed from the camera. It wasn't crashed or even hard landed, either. Just no video from the camera. I DO have gimbal control with either the wheel or the 5-way button, though and the gimbal goes through it's little 'dance' when booting up.
You're Awesome at what you do very informative your video the best on UA-cam that i've seen. I'm not great at taking things apart but this video has made this process look simple ☺
Thank you so much! So if i just buy the 'Gimbal camera arm with flat flex cable' part then it would be easier since i will just be putting back the camera and install it back to the drone? I don't want to disassemble the whole gimbal as i might not be able to put it back! :) Pls comment. Thanks
Very well demonstrated. My camera makes weird "tac" sound everytime during start up. It sounds like the camera is hitting something when doing its calibration. I have crashed the drone but did not find any physical damage. But lately I have notice some lens fogging during flight. Image is literally unusable due to fogging. What do you think is the issue? Thanks.
Thanks for the great video,but.... This is not the broke part. Mine the vertical motor is stiff. Horizontal works fine and video feed is fine. Do you have any recommendations. It seems I tore up the part no one else has or fixed. Can that side be separated and put back together or do you have a full disassembly vid I am not finding? Thank you in advance.
Thnx for the video. I have landed to a tree and then cannot make gimbal calibration. But i have the video feed. Now i changed the ribbon like you did and now i dont have a video feed and there is no gimbal movement. Then i also changed the video feed cable (silver cable) but no success. Still no video and gimbal not moving. It was ok before replacing ribbon and silver cable. What should i check? What can be the problem?
Is there a way to disassemble to entire gimbal including the arms? I have a bent arm and want to replace just the arm but don't want to break something. Thanks!
Great video thank you for that. I also had an accident and need the Lvds cable. Please inform me if you have news on that. I'm so bummed, had to climb a tree and couldn't do anything but let it drop, need to replace the ribbon cable, the vibration dampener board, lvds cable and hope for it to work 😢
do you believe it to be posible to reconnect the three wires that broke on my lvds cable, how would one go about doing that? Can I solder them together?
Hi Michael, dude, I am so sorry to hear about that intense crash. Sounds like practically all of it broke. But good news, the LVDS cable just became available on eBay, and we'll have them on our site in the next week or so! I have heard of only one success story with soldering the cables together. Don't really imagine it's a good bet.
How to check the electronic board on the shock absorbers hub.? Can I replace only the gimble and camera Bcz it is available in eBay. And I am sure about the gimble damage. Not sure about the mother board on shock absorbers Hub. Plz reply.!
Hi Thank you so much for your videos, you’ve helped us a lot. I’ve changed the gimbal on mavic pro because it wasn’t responding at all but I could see the video live from whatever angle camera decided to point from my phone, now the gimbal is responding but there’s no picture coming through... Any advice 🙂 Thanks
I had an ocean crash and I'm trying to repair my mavic. It powers on, but I've noticed the gimbal gets too hot to touch, even after one minute power up. I'm wondering, if I disconnected the white power cable to the gimbal/camera, will that cut all power to the gimbal so I don't have to worry about it overheating/burning up, so I can work on just getting the mavic to fly with no video? Thanks.
Hi! Great video! are you going to make a video of how to reassemble with a new flex cable? I'm finding it hard to kbow where to fold and insert the replacement flex cable.
Thanks for your reply about this and also the counter sunk screws. I should have been more clear in my question as you show the flex cable path very well in your video. The problem I has was where the new flex cable folds over its self to fit. It is a bit complicated. It would be great to see a video from you showing a new flex cable and then how you fold it an insert into the gimbal. I was only able to work it out because I had a few bits of the damaged cable that I could pull apart and see how it folds and sticks with the adhesive tape.
Gonna watch this one and the previous one for removing the gimbal several times each, as I have to do this with my MP - gimbal DOES go thru it's 'dance' when booting up, but I get no video feed from it when I go to fly and no gimbal control from the wheel or the 5-way button.
Thanks for the awesome videos! I took my Mavic on a bumpy dirt-bike trip, now when i turn it on the gimbal makes a strange sound during the start-up gimbal movement and after some movement, the app says “Make sure gimbal clamp is removed”. My gimbal clamp is already off. Do you think this could be caused by a faulty ribbon cable? I don’t think I have any qualified DJI people near me...
Is it possible to calibrate the gimbal if the camera is not connected? I'm testing the gimbal, but the camera's cam is broken, I can't calibrate without the camera. I need to understand this situation, if so, I will buy the camera cable.
What tools do you need to disassemble? Besides the hex screws, what kind of plastic clip removers, or whatever you call it, does one need? *PLEASE* get back to me ASAP* !! Thank you. I need to do a repair, however, I'm not sure exactly what it is I need. *PLEASE HELP* !!!!!
This video is how I have repaired my flex cable multiple times. Unfortunately after multiple changes my black and white cable broke on gimbal circuit board. I attempted solder fix, which looks horrible btw, however, when I turn it on the gimbal is making a screeching sound like motors spinning fast or something similar. Is there anyway to buy just circuit board?
Hi Jose, this may be late, but likely you would actually need a new gimbal, especially if any of the (gimbal) motors are overheating. Likely soldering the power wires back onto the circuit board didn't harm anything.
Very nice video, thank zog for helping us.You save me some bucks and make me happy again. Is not just for the money..but this I want to say Is..such a beautiful thing wenn someone is trying fixing something by himself. Regards from Germany:)
Interestingly I got this “Gimble Vibration Error” along with a noticeable vibration sound coming from my Mavic Pro last night. I had just changed out the propellers for platinum props. So I thought maybe that’s what it was. BUT. It was working fine for the previous 15 minutes and after battery 2 it started right after takeoff. Did it for about 3-4 Mins and stopped on it’s own. Mind you I’ve NEVER crashed my Mavic or had a hard landing. So I’m confused as to what caused this and if it’s something I need to worry about again. Being that it corrected itself.
Great video! Unfortunately I'm unable to remove the camera, even doing the exact same movement as you with the same blue tool! It's really stuck, I tried with pryer, heating, cooling... Anything! Any special tip?
Hi there, thank you for reaching out :) if the band is not torn, then what we typically do is we take a pair of precision tweezers and gently push it back in. You can use any pointy instrument really. Just be gentle with the gimbal when holding the gimbal out of the way; don't want to cause a torn ribbon! - Anita @ FixaCrash
Nice video I think this is what mavic people needs, but I´d like to please ask you for a video opening the gimbal motor, you may be asking your self why?, because my mavic did fall to the sand and now when I move up and down my camera it stocks some times so I tried to open it with no successful, I think it has sand still into the gimbal motor. I would be so thankful If you can help me, thanks a lot!!!
Using an air compressor can certainly help blow the sand out of your gimbal. We often have customers come in where their drones crashed in sand, and have had success when the sand is the only issue. Let me know if this works!
hey thanks for the answer but saddly I blowed it with an air compressor but still gets stock, i think the only way to clean it up its to open the motor of the gimbal the one who makes the vertical movement, i would loved if you can help me please am kinda desperate right now because i have had times where this movement its important and it gets stock... thanks
Anita ohhh... I tough it came just with screws :( not glued, i think this is a common problem and DJI should post a solution, well anyway anita thank you so much for your words i almost tried to open it, i think i would have breaked it and turned it as a more dificult problem, loves!
Yep, we were the ones to actually design the 3D-printed version before the stock ones even came out. We make sure every part fits before we ship them out! As for the injection mold, that's currently not in the agenda, as the 3D-printed ones we make are very strong. Maybe for future parts :)
I replaced my ribbon cable with a new one. I met started well and I was happy it worked. Unfortunately, after flying for 20min, the same gimbal motor overload issue reappeared. And the gimbal gets hot really fast, only after starting the drone for 30sec it’s already very hot. I opened the gimbal again and tried fixing the ribbon cable. But it didn’t help. Any idea what else I could do? Replace the whole gimbal? Buy another ribbon cable from another company? Thanks
Hi there, so sorry to hear about your drone :( it sounds like one of the motors or even electronics board is damaged on the gimbal. The gimbal is overworking itself and thus overheating. Unfortunately, this would mean that the gimbal assembly would need to be replaced. It was not an issue with replacing the ribbon; just the gimbal had this issue on top of the ribbon issue. If you get a replacement gimbal, make sure you get a whole assembly and not just the arms. The arms that are currently circulating around are usually taken from crashed drones, many not even tested before being shipped to you. If you need an assembly, feel free to reach out to us at fixacrash.com. So sorry for the news, hope this helps.
hi, thanks for the video.its gonna be a big help. i crashed my mavic pro, and my camera cracked. the video is not good anymore. where could i find/buy a REPLACEMENT CAMERA ONLY, without the gimbal set. thanks. more power.
HELP i am hoping you can help ... I droped my mavic and same issue the ribbon and hook was broken I have replaced both the camera now has power cycles threw it's start up but ends up facing down and I have 2 errors gymbal gyroscope error and camera sensor error any idea how to fix this I herd the gimbal gyro is the camera barrel and you have to replace the camera Barral but no idea about where the camera sensor is I would of thought in the same part hoping this is something I can fix as dji charge way to much for stuff that shouldn't break so easy
Hi Craig, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mavic. Usually a camera sensor error means that your LVDS cable is damaged; do you see any video when you power up the drone? As for the gimbal gyroscope error, there are a few things. Assuming of course that you have already rechecked all of the connections, see if a gimbal calibration will help. If not, then you may need to replace the ribbon cable again or as you said, replace the gimbal assembly. Hope this helps.
hello! thanks for the awesome video, you are sooooo patient! Good instructional style. Quick question; in your experience with a loss of power to the gimbal after a crash do you think I broke the ribbon or the silver cable? I'm about to start tearing it apart to find out but if you already suspect .......please let me know. thanks again!
I'm sorry to hear about your gimbal. From your description it sounds like it may be the black ribbon cable, which supplies commands for the gimbal movements. The silver one supplies a video feed. Or it could be both, if you have neither. Hope this helps.
hi! Thanks for the reply, I'm knee deep into the ribbon replacement, and it is literally kicking my butt. The ribbon route is primarily the issue . How do you keep the ends of the cable in contact with the gimbal? They don't "snap" in or anything as far as I can tell. The double stick tape that comes with the cable barely keeps it in place sooooooo?????Also, where do I get replacement gimbal screws?
The ends of the cable kind of snap in, sometimes the silicone rubber (the glue) gets in the way and more of it should be removed before the connector snaps in. You can find replacement gimbal screws on eBay, and they will be on our site in about a week or two. The measurements for the screw are: countersunk M1.2-.25x3.0
Hello hope you're having a good day I just had a quick question before I send my mavic Pro in for repair I'm a pretty handy person and I enjoy fixing things myself I replaced my gimbal ribbon cable twice with no issue however the third time just recently I installed another cable the same way and when I turned on the Drone smoke started coming out of the camera of course I turned it off quickly to prevent any more damage but I can't figure out what the problem is because literally nothing happened. So my question is there anything I can do before I send it in? what would cause this? Do you think something is ruined for sure because I seen smoke or is it possible all the parts are still good even though there was smoke? I don't see any burn marks and everything looks fine but if I plug it in and turn it on it will smoke again so I don't want that to happen any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. I know it's impossible to judge without seeing the Drone in person but I'm just wondering off the top of your head if you could think of anything. If not I understand just kind of at a standstill right now thank you for your time look forward to hearing from you.Cheers
Hi Trevor, Thank you for reaching out! You might check the ribbon cable near the largest connector (the one that plugs into the gimbal main circuit board) and see if the ribbon looks burnt. That's the most common place I see ribbon cable burns. As for the repair, if you replaced the cable three different times and basically got the same result, then it's possible a gimbal motor or chip is damaged; there's not too many things that can go wrong with a ribbon replacement itself. We of course can do a repair, or provide a replacement gimbal, but in any case, make sure you buy the whole assembly (with the ribbons, camera module, and the gimbal mount). The gimbal arms only units you see online are often taken from crashed units, and have a very low probability of working. Hope this helps. Of course, feel free to email me at help@fixacrash.com if you have any questions, or would like a repair or parts! Anita
Thank you for this - Question - I just took a motorcycle trip with my mavic and found that the gimbal will not roll it does pan and tilt for the start up. The cover on the metal data cable that the gimbal lock hooks on is broke so the gimbal was bouncing around from vibrations and I’m guessing the ribbon cable broke from this. The video feed was fine so I assume the data cable is good. Do you sell the cover that the gimbal lock hooks on to?
Hi, thank you for your question! I very likely do have the part in question. Just so that we can be sure--and also to address any other issues you may have--please shoot me a message and some photos to anita@fixacrash.com! Anita
HalLucyJen Not really necessary; if you wanted to you could try neutral cure silicone rubber or liquid electrical tape. The purpose of the adhesive is to prevent vibrations (or crashes) from disconnecting the connection, but I haven't had any issues 🙂 I usually only use it for any soldering connections.
One of the best repair videos I have ever seen. Ever! Great camera, voice, and directions. You saved me a lot of money by allowing me to DIY a broken gimbal arm. Thanks so much.
Is it as easy as she made it look? I have to replace the ribbon!
@@Al-Gore-ithm pretty much. It’s a very accurate video for the Mavic 1

Im having the same issues, did you happen to find a good video or schematic of the ribbon''s route?
Great video! But silver cable is not findeble. I need it with ribbon cable. If you found any sources for the silver data cable. - tell me please too.

Great News! Thank you :)
How to check the electronic board on the shock absorbers hub.? Can I replace only the gimble and camera Bcz it is available in eBay. And I am sure about the gimble damage. Not sure about the mother board on shock absorbers Hub. Plz reply.!
Hi
Thank you so much for your videos, you’ve helped us a lot.
I’ve changed the gimbal on mavic pro because it wasn’t responding at all but I could see the video live from whatever angle camera decided to point from my phone, now the gimbal is responding but there’s no picture coming through...
Any advice 🙂
Thanks
Fantastic'' very detailed information!!
Best on line strip down 😊👌
Heyy. Thank you for your video, it saved my life. Good job!
Hi Presjar, 7:19 - 10:23 should help to show the ribbon cable path.
Exactly the same for me ! Thank you ...
Your video is perfect to remove the ribbon but it's difficult to instal the new one...
Claude Carnot , hi I did replaced it, it was difficult, now is not even working
FixaCrash , i live in Calgary, Canada, i followed your nice video and changed the ribbon, it wasn't easy , can I send it to you to fix it?
Great video, thanks for taking the time to assist others.
Fantastic video, saved me 200 Euro. Thanks, Anita!
stella stuff, thank you. saved so much money. recommend to all my drone friends
Thank you! Happy flying! ✈️📷
Had crash
2 of Rubber mounts on board come out of hole
While having this repair r there any updates we can do
Nice video! Question, Can the gimbalmotors itself be repaired?
realy good handy channel. thank u. but lne qeustion please. where could i get to buy the metal cable of the cam?
They're available on eBay, and we'll have them on our site in the next week or so!
The blue disassemble tool she uses, is what you can buy as a tool for disassebling your iPhone, when you change battery. Cheap to buy.
I was wondering, what happens if you remove the other screws where the pitch and roll are?
Great video, do you also have complete mavic pro gimbals for sale?
Very nice video, thank zog for helping us.You save me some bucks and make me happy again.
Is not just for the money..but this I want to say Is..such a beautiful thing wenn someone is trying fixing something by himself.
Regards from Germany:)
u just saved me a few hundred. got a mavic free and “broken”, just a ripped ribbon :)
Nice video. Super explanatory. Thumbs up.
So
I’m confused as to what caused this and if it’s something I need to worry about again. Being that it corrected itself.
Great video! Unfortunately I'm unable to remove the camera, even doing the exact same movement as you with the same blue tool! It's really stuck, I tried with pryer, heating, cooling... Anything! Any special tip?
It's not easy but if you follow instructions slowly you can do it
This 70 year old thanks you very much.
Hi! Can you make a video about how to change the camera glass? Thank you!
Can u can u?
Awesome video, easy to follow, great work. Thank you.
One of the four rubber bands on my damper plate for the gimbal popped out. Is there an easy way to pop it back in or do I need to disassemble it?
Hi there, thank you for reaching out :) if the band is not torn, then what we typically do is we take a pair of precision tweezers and gently push it back in. You can use any pointy instrument really. Just be gentle with the gimbal when holding the gimbal out of the way; don't want to cause a torn ribbon! - Anita @ FixaCrash
Excelent Friend I could see how to dissasembly the Camera flexible muli-cable, very goog hands!!! Congratulations!!!
is it the parts that should be change when we have the black screen issue ?
ChileanThrw That's unfortunate. The motors don't exactly come out with a few screws and prying; they're glued in.
Do you have to fold gimbal cable I've seen this mentioned in other videos i'm sure you would have mentioned if this was a requirement?
Do you just replace the gimbal drop hook with the 3d printed version? Are you looking to get a injection mould part made in the future?
Thanks for the video. I had just broke my gimbal cables. Hopefully I can the spare parts to replace them.
Hi, I research the cable to connect to the camera, the grey with multiples wires. Where can I buy it ?
They're available on eBay, and we'll have them on our site in the next week or so!
VERY informative. You're doing a great job.
Thank you!
thank's a lot! You made it possible for me to replace my ribbon.
That's great! Happy flying!
I have a similar broken ribbon, where can I get the ribbon from and I'm in malaysia
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your cable. Please send me an email at help@fixacrash.com and we can certainly get one sent to you!
hi, thanks for the video.its gonna be a big help. i crashed my mavic pro, and my camera cracked. the video is not good anymore.
where could i find/buy a REPLACEMENT CAMERA ONLY, without the gimbal set. thanks. more power.
HELP i am hoping you can help ... I droped my mavic and same issue the ribbon and hook was broken I have replaced both the camera now has power cycles threw it's start up but ends up facing down and I have 2 errors
gymbal gyroscope error and
camera sensor error any idea how to fix this I herd the gimbal gyro is the camera barrel and you have to replace the camera Barral but no idea about where the camera sensor is I would of thought in the same part hoping this is something I can fix as dji charge way to much for stuff that shouldn't break so easy
You're awesome ! Thanks!
Hi Trevor,
Thank you for reaching out!
Anita
This is a really well done video.
hi, where did you get this blue pry tool?
Hi! i have condensation inside the cam . how can i open it and remove water? help!! and thx!!
Anita
Hello. I have a drone project. It's a university-based project. I want to use this gimbal. On my wrist. How can I do that?
Is it necessary to re-glue the connectors when reassembling? If so, what product is suitable for this?
HalLucyJen Not really necessary; if you wanted to you could try neutral cure silicone rubber or liquid electrical tape. The purpose of the adhesive is to prevent vibrations (or crashes) from disconnecting the connection, but I haven't had any issues 🙂 I usually only use it for any soldering connections.
FixaCrash thanks for the quick reply! I’m prepping to replace a gimbal and vibration plate, your videos are really helpful.
Thank you, good luck and remember to subscribe! Let me know if you need anything.
very helpful, I had the camera cable unplugged and open and my drone is back in service
Where can i find a replacement circuit board for the gimbal?
Thank you. Helped me to replace my ribbon cable no end!
Happy flying!
How was the task? I'm looking to do mine but i don't want to cause more damage ha.. is the cable quite easy to fit on, with all its twists and turns
Hi thks four your Exllent video you no where I can by a camera mudole four Mavic Pro Platinum please let me know many thks x.x.x.....
Very nice video thanks
Great video and just ordered parts thank you for putting this video up and I have added it to my library also joined your channel
when you put back the camera on the motor, what is that whit thing?
BV18BLD I believe the white stuff is thermal paste, to help dissipate heat.
