13:45 "fold going up and down." yes this is key, otherwise it wont sit right. no other video I found explains this small detail. And props to your video framing, you actually kept your hands in frame and I was able to see everything you did. You're a lifesaver!
Hands down the best gimbal ribbon install video on the way. Thank you for simplifying the fold process. Other videos made it so complicated that I destroyed one in the process.
Thank you for the kind comment. my main goal in my videos is to help the viewer understand the process I’m showing. As someone relatively inexperienced with taking electronic components apart, I was confused for a bit too. I make these videos to fill that knowledge gap and help average consumers find success. Thanks again for the comment, It means so much!
Hi bud I just wanted to say a massive thank you I managed to get mine working again with a replacement flex so happy they charge a fortune in Australia to get them repaired
I’ve watched lots of videos on assembling the gimbal ribbon. Few if any do a good job showing the reassembly well. However you did a fairly decent job. I’ve done quite a few cables recently and the reason for this is that I’ve been buying them of eBay in Australia and the eBay ribbons simply don’t work apart from providing good practice. Maybe one in ten work, so I got lots of practice. My advice is stay away from cheap ribbons on eBay. I’m not sure about amazon ribbons but they’re probably the same. I think this is one of the times you stick to genuine parts. They are more expensive but they work.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad my video helped! Yeah I agree. I’ve done about 5 of these repairs, with aftermarket ribbons. They can be hit or miss, but i’ve been pretty lucky to have each one work every time for me. for 10$, it’s hard to beat! Thanks for Watching!
This helped me a lot. Successfully installed the new gimbal cable. I powered it on and it still had the same behavior. So I disassembled it and double check every connection. Now the gimbal doesn’t power on and I get no video feed.
Joey Villa Hmmm. It could be your cables, gimbal, or gimbal control board. This is a very delicate job so even the smallest mistake can throw it off. I would triple check for any tears in the ribbon, or broken wires in the video cable. Then look at the pins on each of the gimbal motors. those are easily damaged when popping off connection pads. If it’s not any of those, It may be your gimbal board. inspect it and smell for a burnt smell, or look for fried components. It could still be damaged even if those signs aren’t present however those signs are common. Also, check your power connection between the board and the drone (that powers the camera and gimbal). Hope that helps. Let me know. If it’s none of that you may want to go get it looked at by the pros. Thanks for watching!
Same here. Original problem was "gimbal overload" and now I have error with the front sensors, error with video feed as well as gimbal overload. I can still see the video feed but it looks terribly washed out and there is no gimbal movement
I have replaced the ribbon cable and problem was solved (so I thought), after few hours in the pouch tried to go flying, and the problem returned. Ribbon was purchased from DJI for 35$. What else could be wrong, can you tell?
It is a very delicate repair, I would go back over your work and see if any of the pad connectors came undone. Other than that it is pretty hard to tell.
@@CustomFPV I have flown it now, first time after 2 minutes of flight gave me gimbal error message, restarted it and flown all 3 batteries to 10% without any issues, even used sport mode to rape the gimbal, works fine. I have noticed that if aircraft is upside down, and you move the gimbal it rubs of the small holder for the vibration plate (turned off of course), don't know if it should rub on it.
Sanel Libic That is good news. Hopefully it keeps working. at the end of the day it is a diy repair to get you out of spending hundreds shipping it back to dji. In terms of the rubbing... not sure what’s up with that. Thankfully the drone doesn’t fly upside down!
Matt West Unclear remark, yeah I talk fast (you can slow it down if you have to), I’m also trying to simplify the process and not give more info than needed. this is everything you need to perform the repair. ask me any questions you may have.

I had so much trouble with this part and got it put together but I still get the overload message
@@marshalllove It sounds like something might not be plugged in all the way or perhaps a faulty flex cable.

Subbed! that was the easiest fold process. I got confused with the other installation videos. Thanks!
That’s the goal! I was so confused when I first did it I decided to help others out and simplify the process. Thanks for the sub!

CustomRCMods hi, maybe you can share the link to where you’re buying them from so that we can buy from them as well.
The link for the ribbon cable I purchased is in the description.
CustomRCMods thanks
