King of fighters is basically the reason why Smash bros exists, the groups are in 3 cause (at the beggining) most of the teams came from other games made by SNK, Art of fighting, Fatal fury, Athena, Ikari warriors, and that inspired Sakurai to take existing nintendo characters for the first Smash brothers game That's why for him Terry Bogard in smash is a really important character he really loves KOF games If you want the lore and story I recommend Thorgi's 4 part series about KOF story, although he talks about SNK as a company too cause they had the lowest lows and the lowest highs yet somehow SNK is still alive pushing through with KOF XV
98, 98 Ultimate, 2002, and 2002 Unlimited Match are "Dream Match" games. Basically, they're non-canon since they bring back characters from previous installments of the series, both living and deceased (except for the American sports team in 2002 for comedic reasons)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the series has 3-4 games within a story arc, then a dream match game with everyone in the arc to sort of cap things off. So ‘94-‘97 are all one arc with ‘98 as the dream match before the next arc, and so on.
Fun Fact: Dan Hibiki creation is literally just Capcom middle finger to SNK. There’s another series called Art of Fighting (where Terry Bogard and Andy Bogard are from) that’s connected to KOF and there’s a character named Ryo Sakazaki whose is basically SNK version of Ryu from SF. So Capcom made Dan as a little jab. One of Dans win quotes from older games: “I hate the Art of Fighting, but I wanna be the King of Fighters!”
Fun side-note regarding KoFs animation: The animated movies and the opening for the most recent KoF game (+ character designs) were lead by the animation Legend Masami Obari, who is considered an icon for giant robot animation. And it was him who did the very, very first transformation sequence for Optimus Prime in the first Transformers animated series from 1984. fun fact on that: Obari did the animation for KoF in exchange for SNKs then current game console with KoF games as part of his payment.

NEO GEO is a arcade company that work alongside SNK to make KOF, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, Garou Mark of The Wolves and Metal Slug. So, a few points here 1. The pixelated games you saw at the end where the soundtracks all reminded you of one composer/music tools, those weren't console ports, but rather Neo-Geo Pocket Color handheld system/ mini-console ports. SNK manufactured Neo-Geo Pocket Color as a competitor to the gamecube, game boy color systems by Nintendo. The music for those mini games would use MIDI which is like an 8 bit music system, which was used for its low file sizes to fit into these games. 2. The game where the translations weren't available(for which you did a fun dub), that was KOF XV, the latest game, which actually has English Subs in-game and it wasn't the opening. There's an animated opening to KOF XV as well that wasn't in the video you guys watched, so you could actually do a play-through of KOF XV :) 3. Regarding the portrayal of women in video games, yes, Mai with her bombastic sex appeal was and still is an immensely popular character for SNK games. But, SNK has always had a great variety of different women characters in their roster of KOF games, some of them fully clothed and others, flaunting it like they own it. Notable characters are Athena, Yuri, King, Leona, Chizuru have been in KOF since 94-96 and are still in today. Hope that helps to understand a bit more about KOF. Looking forward to more Fight Night Fridays!

This was a great video. If you want more information, Thorgi's arcade is a one stop shop on fighting games. He has a whole several part video series on KOF.
So the intro with the news reporter is actually the first cutscene of the story mode in KOF 15, which is more of an arcade mode with flashy cutscenes every now and then and you don’t really know what’s going on unless you pick the correct teams. So I’d recommend just reacting to it instead of playing it, but I’d be all for a livestream with KOF in it! Also if you want to learn more about this series or why some characters here look like some in street fighter, the KOF retrospective by thorgi’s arcade is really great I thoroughly recommend it!
KOF 99 dream match is my favorite openings Espcially with Kyo and Iori Fighting. Iori is basically the Darkness(Moon crest on his back)to Kyo's Light(Sun Crest on his back.) eternal rivals/destined rivals are the best rivals.
I loved kof 94 since i saw it on the arcades the first time, the thing that got me was the charging power super, then the characters, the songs etc,95 was the first time they introducing Iory Yagami,96 jeeesus the intro, kept the charching power wich is the thing i love,i saw it on arcades and then released a 96 Psx version,i loooved so much,it is my favourite one.97 was ok in the intro but the gameplay is sooo good, and yeah the damn BADASS Yashiro,Chris and Shermie,i think in the arcade the soundtrack was good BUT the psx version was WAAAAY better, the only thing bad about psx version is the loading time,is not like i hate it but when you´re in the Yashiro Team fight it was like, the music on psx is so damn good, and then when you´re about to hear Chris or Shermie songs........................................................................................................................................................loading time,i did a gameplay of 96 and 97 psx versions not cutting the songs, the problem on psx was that when the song start it was good ok,when you win or loose a fight and the second round starts, the song was like for example, the song was like 3 minutes,in the second round it starts in 2.30 minutes end and starts again from the beginning, what i did on my gameplay is get rid of the loading times and the music never cut when you win or loose it keeps going. ua-cam.com/video/nfM447jbCWk/v-deo.html Now 98 i remember that i was with my uncle and we went to a store i don´t remember what we were looking for and then i saw The King Of Fighters 98 game,i was like please buy it buy it and he said,i will buy it because you´re my favourite nephew, awww and we end to love that game.99 is a good game specially dreamcast version that has extras on strikers side,2000 jeeeeesus so much freedom to do crazy things with strikers wich is the one we also love.2001 the gameplay is excelent, the intro...............nope,the music.........nope,the stages and gameplay are so good tough,2002 same, awesome gameplay, music ok not that good, but then they did a Dream Match with 98 Unlimited Match and 2002 Unlimited match,98 is a good one so no need to do a dream match but still 98um is so damn good, remember when i said that 2002 nope in intro and soundtrack? you will be surprised with 2002um they put so much love into the soundtrack, the gameplay is the same as original 2002 wich is perfect, the soundtrack and stages, jeeeeesus one of the best.Like and new sub for this,i love kof saga, grettings from Argentina.

Usa team Heavy-D, Lucky and Brian never got enter in the tournament cuz they're invitation being stolen and being defeated by other fighters who also enter like secound chance. I'm enjoy to play the team of Boxer, Basketball player and a american football wrestler back in KOF 98 Ultimate match.
Mai Shiranui or Mai Boobanui as I like to sometimes call her is what was known as a Kunoichi which was a female ninja that used seduction to overcome her enemies One of the people that worked on SF2 went to SNK and worked on KOF. If any of that's wrong someone can correct me. Kyo Kusanagi is the face of most of the franchise. K' was the next attempt at a face of the franchise but as cool as he is he didn't really take over the franchise. Ash became the face of the franchise for a while unti he was killed off. He was then revived in the 15th game. He's like an anti-hero.

To be fair, most fighting game players are still young men so having sexy, scantily clad female characters like Mai is an important aspect to draw the player base in.
I really want to see Mary Ryan (or ‘Blue Mary’ Ryan for short) - the female blonde fighter with short blonde hair at 10:17 in *The King Of Fighters Dream Match trailer,* alongside Street Fighter’s Cammy White, Tekken’s Nina Williams, Mortal Kombat’s Sonya Blade, Lollipop Chainsaw's Juliet Starling & Trish of Devil May Cry fame, all form a badass blonde chick clique, akin to Charlie’s Angels. If you guys want to learn more about the KOF story I recommend Thorgi's Arcade videos on the KOF series. He made videos on Fatal Fury (which you should watch first since it helps set up the world of the king of fighters) and did a series of all of the main line king of fighters' games. The videos are really long, but they go very in-depth with the story, development, and the company that created the games. That is how I would recommend getting into the king of fighters series since KOF 15 doesn't have a story mode. It has an arcade latter with a few cutscenes in between and multiple team endings, but only one ending is really cannon.
You might make fun of K Dash for looking Emo in that one intro, but considering he was messed with genetically to be like the series main and had his memories surpressed, I think he is allowed to be a little bit emo.

Your guys chemistry and the fun you with the subject matter is really awesome
I love seeing my favorite fighting game get some love. I grew up with some of these games.
94 just the other day, when everyone was alive. Sigh best not to live in the past, best not to focus on the future so much. The future is now.
I recommend reacting to the kof timeline by Thorgis Arcade, very interesting story lines and also the drama of SNK company
😎👍😀
fun fact the king of fighters tournament originated from the art of fighting and fatal fury series of games
oh and it be cool if you guys reacted to all the supers in kof 2001
and also capcom vs snk 2
ive only seen like half of these so it was nice to see some with yall for the first time. that KOF2006(edit: all the maximum impact ones) one was so sick. really gave tekken vibes.
You should react to the new fatal fury city of the wolves trailer’s that came out
I remember always watching these openings on an arcade machine from far away because my parents never allowed me to play them
30:00 Of course they did, that's Mark Okita, one of the best narrators in Japan.
You guys should check out the King of Fighters Another Day OVA - it was a OVA that complimented the Maximum Impact series.
My personal top three.

Judged by the strength of the generational inheritance between the protagonists,
or the ability to tell what the current generation is going to do just by watching the movie.
kof lore video might answer ur questions.
i love KOF96 intro!
SNK put a lot of effort in the OST that year!
If you want to know the lore of KOF, you should go for Shoryugame, he made a great content on the KOF, Samurai Showdown etc. lores of it, even top 10s.
38:26 is game boy .....
Very similar grafics in arcade and consols versions ( snes,ps,dreamcast , etc etc)
This was a great video. If you want more information, Thorgi's arcade is a one stop shop on fighting games. He has a whole several part video series on KOF.
I feel like playing kof02UM when I get home 😎
Mai:I have the biggest chest :3
Lien:And I took offensive to that(Lien is the assassin lady that was unzipping her suit 👀)
NOSTALGIA T-T
Mai canonically doesn't even have the biggest bust. The biggest ones are Shermie and Angel (they're tied at the same size).
So they used a lot of the spin-off intros (including the vaguely canon visual novels and the handheld demakes) but not the animated intro for KOF 15?
Kof,SF, Mortal Kombat y los 90.2000 ❤❤❤❤
Iori is basically the Darkness(Moon crest on his back)to Kyo's Light(Sun Crest on his back.) eternal rivals/destined rivals are the best rivals.
they didn't add the actual Kof 15 opening for some reason. ua-cam.com/video/ySXQHEh0kBA/v-deo.htmlsi=DozypwRPPAmCnoSl
La 97 y la 2002 y maximum impact son las mejores intros de la historia 😊❤
The area where the battle is held is southtown, a fictional area in SNK games where all the residents are powerful gifted martial artists.
😎👍🙂

Now 98 i remember that i was with my uncle and we went to a store i don´t remember what we were looking for and then i saw The King Of Fighters 98 game,i was like please buy it buy it and he said,i will buy it because you´re my favourite nephew, awww and we end to love that game.99 is a good game specially dreamcast version that has extras on strikers side,2000 jeeeeesus so much freedom to do crazy things with strikers wich is the one we also love.2001 the gameplay is excelent, the intro...............nope,the music.........nope,the stages and gameplay are so good tough,2002 same, awesome gameplay, music ok not that good, but then they did a Dream Match with 98 Unlimited Match and 2002 Unlimited match,98 is a good one so no need to do a dream match but still 98um is so damn good, remember when i said that 2002 nope in intro and soundtrack? you will be surprised with 2002um they put so much love into the soundtrack, the gameplay is the same as original 2002 wich is perfect, the soundtrack and stages, jeeeeesus one of the best.Like and new sub for this,i love kof saga, grettings from Argentina.
You should definitely check out thorgi arcade’s king of fighters retrospective, it gives a good explanation of the lore and other aspects of the series
Qué recuerdos….. el video de todo fan de Kof esperaba
They were only in the first tournament (94), but they'd get their invitations stolen ever since
Mai Shiranui or Mai Boobanui as I like to sometimes call her is what was known as a Kunoichi which was a female ninja that used seduction to overcome her enemies
One of the people that worked on SF2 went to SNK and worked on KOF.
*I think you guys should check out some lore for the Division, preferably the first game or something.*
What an interesting Compilation, nice Reaction.
Say, how about doing all Openings for either BlazBlue or Guilty Gear at some point? I know I recommend that before.
Yes but we love/need reminders from time to time as we have a lot of recommendations 😅 we will have more guilty gear coming with the music but the intros would be cool as well
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I see, well I have been recommending a Particular Video that’s presenting all those Intros, in the Comment Sections of all of those Guilty Gear Themes Videos, just so you know.
You guys should do Max Payne 3 all cutscenes reaction! The game is very good, and the voice acting is great.
That’s a franchise we need to look into 😅
for me KOF2001 is the best....the plot and the boss....it's perfect.....
*the plot for KOF2001 started from KOF99 and the 2001 is the climax of the plot.....
*hoping that both of you do a reaction for KOFXV all characters introduction 🥰
To be fair, most fighting game players are still young men so having sexy, scantily clad female characters like Mai is an important aspect to draw the player base in.
The Top Cheapest Fighting Game Bosses will give a few context to some of your questions.
I propose they be named either ‘Da Blonde Vixens Baddies,’ ‘The Solar Storm Sisters Crew,’ ‘Sunfire Sirens,’ or ‘The Blonde Brawlers 👊🤛🤜⚔🤺
Imagine seeing all 6 of em do a badass pose together.
That would be cool as hell 🤩
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Thanks! Glad u like this idea I thought

Want some dope intros. Look up dynasty warriors or samurai warriors intros. Now those are dope to watch
28:30 in case this scene doesn't make it clear...this intro is from the 2000s xdxdxdxd
after kof xv it's already a smoothie of intros, the one who made the video doesn't deign to explain
Can you react KOF 98 Ultimate match super moves next friday?
We can add it to our request list 🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames please do, classic fighting games 2d got great super moves.😊
Ken and Befinie, can you both please react or watch to the shoriyu gaming KOF Lore videos? It covers all the stories of KOF from start to the XV, to know little bit insight of KOF story lines because to me KOF XIII is epic and yes its not just the love story what Ken said, so can you, Please?
If you guys want to learn more about the KOF story I recommend Thorgi's Arcade videos on the KOF series. He made videos on Fatal Fury (which you should watch first since it helps set up the world of the king of fighters) and did a series of all of the main line king of fighters' games. The videos are really long, but they go very in-depth with the story, development, and the company that created the games. That is how I would recommend getting into the king of fighters series since KOF 15 doesn't have a story mode. It has an arcade latter with a few cutscenes in between and multiple team endings, but only one ending is really cannon.
Imho the 98 UM opening is my favorite in the series.
they should react to EVOLUTION of GODZILLA'S ATOMIC BREATH: Comparison (1954-2021)
Will add it to our request list 🙂
My top:
3) KOF 96
2) KOF '01
1) KOF 98
Just sneaking this in 😂, you guys need to watch Prepare To Cry - Age of the stars (elden ring). I think you'd find it upmost interesting lore wise👋🏻
You should react to the King Of Fighters Retrospective by Thorgi’s Arcade. They cover a great amount of information and are good videos
I recommend the openings of Persona from 1996 to 2024
Weird game lol announcer sounded drunk 😂😂
Right? 😆
You might make fun of K Dash for looking Emo in that one intro, but considering he was messed with genetically to be like the series main and had his memories surpressed, I think he is allowed to be a little bit emo.
They left out the animated intro for KOF XV.
Let's react to the Climaxes of Kof XV
Can you play the new season of invasions in mk1
Kof 96 best music ever, esaka is god.
Did you hear the unfortunate news of Akira Toriyama's death?
Arcade mode and PS2
The real first kof IS FATAL FURY KING OF FIGHTER
Next GTA ALL Opening
BRAZIL IS HERE
8:40 actually he is a taekwondo master.
Mai is pronounced like the "my" (possessive pronoun) in English.
You miss the KoF 15 anime intro, is way better.

Your Welcome.

Dang. Always seems like there is at least one missing from these. This was the longest and newest compilation we could find 🤗
